Drug Bust – Names Released

(DRYDEN, ON) – An investigation led by the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with assistance from the Sioux Lookout OPP CSCU, Red Lake OPP CSCU, Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), Emergency Response Team (ERT), and uniform members from the Dryden OPP Detachment have led to charges being laid against three individuals.  

On February 26, 2025, just after 10:00 am, a search warrant was executed on a residence on Arthur Street, in the City of Dryden. The investigation resulted in the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of suspected illicit drugs, including fentanyl, cocaine, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, and oxycodone as well as a prohibited firearm, over $10,000 in Canadian currency, and further evidence of drug trafficking.

As a result of the investigation, Sarah ABDEL-KARIM, 40-years-old, of Dryden, has been charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and the Criminal Code with the following offences:

·        Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – fentanyl

·        Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine

·        Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine

·        Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – oxycodone      

·        Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000

·        Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm

·        Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm

·        Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm

·        Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose

Terrence KOROBANIK, 33-years-old, of Dryden, has also been charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act and the Criminal Code with the following offences:

·        Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – fentanyl

·        Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine

·        Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine

·        Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – oxycodone      

·        Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000

·        Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm

·        Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm

·        Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm

·        Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose

Xabi CLIFFE-BEGGS, 18-years-old, of York, has also been charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act and the Criminal Code with the following offences:

·        Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – fentanyl

·        Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine

·        Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine

·        Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – oxycodone      

·        Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000

·        Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm

·        Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm

·        Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm

·        Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose

The accused individuals were remanded into custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden on March 3, 2025.

Gavin MARTIN Was Arrested Again

(DRYDEN, ON) – Members of the Ignace Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment have arrested and charged one individual with several offences including impaired operation.  

On February 25, 2025, at approximately 8:00 p.m. a member of the Ignace OPP Detachment was completing a traffic stop when an approaching vehicle failed to move over on Main Street, in the Township of Ignace almost striking the officer.

A traffic stop was initiated on West Street within the Township. During the interaction, the officer determined that the driver was obviously impaired by alcohol. The driver was arrested at the scene and transported to the Dryden OPP Detachment where breath testing was completed by way of lawful demand.

As a result, Gavin MARTIN, 43-years-old, of Ignace, has been arrested and charged under the Liquor Licence Control Act and Criminal Code with:

·         Operation while impaired by blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·         Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·         Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court -two counts

·         Failure to comply with undertaking

·         Dangerous Operation

·         Driving while under suspension

·         Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

·         Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available

The accused has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden at a later date.

Clyde TAIT Was Arrested Again

(DRYDEN, ON) – An investigation led by the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with assistance from the Sioux Lookout OPP CSCU and members of the Dryden OPP Detachment have led to charges being laid against a local resident.  

On February 19, 2025, just after 2:00 p.m., an individual wanted on a warrant was observed by members of the Dryden OPP on Orvis Street, in the City of Dryden. The individual was arrested and found to be in possession of suspected crack cocaine.

As a result of the investigation, Clyde TAIT, 41-years-olds, has been charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and the Criminal Code with the following offences:

·        Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine 

·        Failure to comply with release order

·        Possession of proceeds obtained by crime under $5000

The accused was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on February 21, 2025.

411 Pounds Of Weed Seized

(DRYDEN, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) in Dryden have arrested and charged two individuals after recovering a stolen motor vehicle.

On Sunday, February 16th, 2025, at approximately 9:10 p.m., Dryden OPP were dispatched to investigate the theft of a commercial motor vehicle (CMV). The vehicle was located on Highway 17 in Revell Township, where two individuals were arrested for theft of a motor vehicle.

Following a search incident to arrest, police located suspected cocaine on the individuals. A further search of the CMV revealed a total of 410 vacuum sealed bags of illicit cannabis, with a total seized weight of 411 lbs.

As a result of the investigation, Parwinder PANDHER, 39-years-old of Brampton, Ontario, has been charged with the following Criminal Code, Cannabis Act, and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act offences:

·      Possess, produce, sell, distribute or import anything with intention to use, produce, sell or distribute illicit cannabis

·      Possession for the purpose of distributing

·      Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance – cocaine

·      Failure to comply with undertaking x2

Taranjit GILL, 44-years-old of Brampton, Ontario, has been charged with the following Criminal Code, Cannabis Act, and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act offences:

·      Possess, produce, sell, distribute or import anything with intention to use, produce, sell or distribute illicit cannabis

·      Possession for the purpose of distributing

·      Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance – cocaine

·      Failure to comply with undertaking

Both individuals were have been remanded into custody, and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden on the 21st of February at 2:00 p.m.

Andrew IAN Facing Weapons Charges

(DRYDEN, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Dryden and Sioux Lookout have arrested and charged an individual wanted on a Canada-wide warrant after they failed to stop for police.

On February 9, 2025, at approximately 4:00 a.m., members of the Dryden OPP were notified of a vehicle that failed to stop for police after being observed travelling unsafely on Highway 17 by officers from Sioux Lookout. Officers did not engage in a pursuit.

Dryden officers located the vehicle on Highway 17 west of Bonney Bay Road and were able to safely stop the vehicle. The driver was placed under arrest without incident or damage to any of the involved vehicles. Police conducted a search of the vehicle and located a firearm. Upon arrest, it was revealed that the individual was wanted on an outstanding Canada-wide warrant.

As a result of the investigation, Andrew IAN, 73 years old of Surrey, British Columbia, has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

·      Flight from peace officer

·      Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm

·      Unauthorized possession of a weapon

·      Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm

·      Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition

·      Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm

The accused has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden on a later date.

Randy ST. GODDARD – Drunk Driving

(DRYDEN, ON) – Members of the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment have arrested and charged one individual with impaired operation. 

On February 11, 2025, at approximately 4:00 p.m. members of the Dryden OPP Detachment observed a dangerous maneuver by a motorist requiring the officers to take evasive measures to avoid a collision. A short time later, officers located the suspect vehicle and driver.

As a result of the investigation, it was determined that the driver of the motor vehicle had been impaired by alcohol/drug. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Dryden Detachment OPP Detachment for further testing.

Randy ST. GODDARD, 69-years-old, of Dryden, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

·         Operation while impaired by blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·         Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·         Dangerous operation

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden on April 15, 2025.

Ian STERLING – Drunk Driving

(DRYDEN, ON) – Members of the Ignace Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment have arrested and charged one individual with impaired operation. 

On February 9, 2025, at approximately 1:00 a.m. members of the Ignace OPP Detachment responded to a call on Nash Street in the Township of Ignace after a complaint was received regarding two individuals.

As a result of the investigation, it was determined that the driver of the motor vehicle had been impaired by alcohol/drug. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Dryden detachment for further testing.

Ian STERLING, 36-years-old, of Toronto, has been arrested and charged with the following offences:

·         Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·         Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·         Obstruct Peace Officer

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden on April 2, 2025.

Farrah DIDUR – Drunk Driving

(DRYDEN, ON) – Members of the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment have arrested and charged one individual with impaired operation. 

On February 8, 2024, at approximately 5:00 p.m. members of the Dryden OPP Detachment responded to a traffic complaint at a local business in the City of Dryden.

As a result of the investigation, it was determined that the driver of the motor vehicle had been impaired by alcohol/drug. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Dryden detachment OPP Detachment for further testing.

Farrah DIDUR, 48-years-old, of Kenora, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

·        Operation while impaired by blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden on March 10, 2025.

On February 5, 2025, just before 4:30 p.m., a search warrant was executed on a residence on Mary Avenue in City of Dryden. The investigation resulted in the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of suspected illicit drugs, including cocaine, crack cocaine, hydromorphone, and oxycodone, as well as over $51,000 in Canadian currency and further evidence of drug trafficking.

As a result of the investigation, Alicia SKY, 35-years-old of Dryden, has been arrested and charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – 4 counts
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000

Additionally, a 17-year-old, of Toronto, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with the following offences:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – 4 counts
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Breach of recognizance

The accused individuals have been remanded into custody and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Dryden on February 7, 2025.

QUEWEZENCE Was Arrested

(DRYDEN, ON) – Members of the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment have arrested and charged one individual after a motor vehicle collision. 

On January 10, 2025, at approximately 3:30 p.m. members of the Dryden OPP Detachment responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 105 in an unorganized township.

Through investigation, it was determined that the driver involved in the collision had been consuming alcoholic beverages. The accused was placed under arrest after refusing to provide a breath sample into an approved screening device (ASD).

Starr QUEWEZENCE, 27-years-old, of Red Lake, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

·         Failure or refusal to comply with demand

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden February 3, 2025.

FOX Arrested For Arson

(DRYDEN, ON) – Members of the Dryden Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Dryden Fire Service responded to a call for service at an apartment building.

On January 8, 2025, at approximately 5:00 p.m., on Duke Street, in Dryden ON, members of the Dryden OPP and members of the Dryden Fire Service received a call from an individual reporting a fire at a local apartment building.

Dryden Fire Service attended the residence and located a small fire in the building. It was determined that the fire was intentionally set.

As a result of the investigation, 33-year-old, Samantha FOX, of Thunder Bay, was arrested and charged with the following offences under the criminal code:

·        Arson – Damage to Property

·        Failure to Comply with Undertaking – two counts

The accused has been held for bail and is scheduled to appear with the Ontario Provincial Court on January 9, 2025.

SPALDING – Drunk Driving

(DRYDEN, ON) – Members of the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment have arrested and charged one individual with impaired operation.  

On December 27, 2024, at approximately 12:30 a.m. members of the Dryden OPP Detachment were conducting general patrol duties and observed an individual driving a MSV (motorized snow vehicle) without a helmet who proceeded to collide with a snowbank at a high rate of speed on Casimir Avenue, in the City of Dryden. Fortunately, the individual suffered no injuries as a result of the collision.  

Through investigation, it was determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol.

As a result, Mason SPALDING, 22-years-old, of Dryden was placed under arrest and transported to the Dryden OPP for further testing. The accused faces the following charges under the Criminal Code and Motorized Snow Mobile Act:

·         Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·         Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·         Fail to wear a proper helmet

·         Careless driving

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden January 27, 2025.

Richard ARNOLD – Drunk Driving

(DRYDEN, ON) – Members of the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment have arrested and charged one individual with impaired operation.  

On December 24, 2024, at approximately 3:30 a.m. members of the Dryden OPP Detachment received reports of an impaired driver leaving a local business in the City of Dryden. Police patrolled the area and located the subject at a residence on Mary Avenue.

While speaking with the suspect, the investigating officer observed signs of intoxication and conducted an impaired driving investigation.

As a result of the investigation, it was determined that the subject was the driver of the motor vehicle and had been impaired by alcohol/drug. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to the Dryden OPP for further testing.

Richard ARNOLD, 45-years-old, of Dryden, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

·         Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden January 27, 2025.

Impersonating Police Officer Leads To Arrest #FilmThePolice #FTP

(DRYDEN, ON) – One person has been charged for impersonating a peace officer in relation to a towing incident in Dryden.

On April 26, 2024, at approximately 11:30 p.m., members of the Dryden Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 17 in the City of Machin. Through the investigation, it was learned that the towing company attending the scene was not the towing company dispatched by police.

Further investigation revealed that the attending towing company impersonated law enforcement in order to be dispatched to the scene instead of the towing company originally dispatched by police.

As a result, Sukhwinder DHESI, 41 years old of Mississauga, has been charged with personating a peace officer contrary to the Criminal Code.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Dryden Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden on January 20, 2025.

3 Arrested In Cocaine Bust

(DRYDEN, ON) – A joint investigation led by the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) and Sioux Lookout OPP CSCU with the assistance from members of the Northwest Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), Provincial Joint Forces Guns and Gangs Enforcement Team, Northwest Region Canine Unit, and the Dryden OPP detachment has led to charges being laid against multiple individuals.

On December 15, 2024, just after 11:30 p.m., a search warrant was executed on a residence on Wellington Street in Zealand Township (Wabigoon). The investigation resulted in the arrest of several individuals and the seizure of suspected illicit drugs, including cocaine, crack cocaine, hydromorphone, and oxycodone, as well as further evidence of drug trafficking.

As a result of the investigation, Mohamed ELMI, 27-years-old of Ottawa, has been arrested and charged with the following offences under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – other drugs (two counts)

Mohamed JEMMIE, 24-years-old of Ottawa, has been arrested and charged with the following offences under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine  
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – other drugs (two counts)

William KENNY, 56-years-old of Wabigoon, has been arrested and charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – other drugs (two counts)
  • Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court

The accused have been remanded into custody and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Dryden on December 17, 2024.
