6 Arrested After Rash Of Break & Enters

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON): The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) City of Kawartha Lakes (CKL) Detachment have arrested 6 individuals as a result of an ongoing investigation into the spree of Break and Enters within Bobcaygeon.

On April 17, 2025, members of the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment received a report of a local business, in Bobcaygeon, actively being broken into. Upon officers arrival, those involved were no longer there, an extensive and thorough investigation began. Members of the Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment engaged and as a result of the investigation it was found that vehicles within the area had been broken into.

The investigation is still ongoing, however, the following have been arrested and charged.

Ronald Wretham, 37-year-old of Brock Township

  • CC 348(1)(b) – Break, Enter a Place
  • CC 354(1)(a) – Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

Kristie-Lee MCATEER, 37-year-old of Town of Lindsay

  • CC 348(1)(b) – Break, Enter a Place
  • CC 354(1)(a) – Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • CDSA 4(1) – Possession of Schedule I Substance

Curtis Barnhart, 34-year-old of Bobcaygeon

  • CC 334(b) – Theft Under $5000
  • CC 354(1)(a) – Possession of Proceeds of Crime
  • CC 334(b) – Theft Under $5000
  • CC 354(1)(a) – Possession of Proceeds of Crime

2 Impaired Drivers Have Vehicles Impounded

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into two separate impaired driving investigation over the weekend.

On May 9, 2025, at approximately 6:38 p.m., officers were dispatched to a traffic complaint, detailing a single motor vehicle swerving all over the road and almost causing a head on collision on 7A Highway. Officers attended the registered owner’s residence and located the driver. Through investigation the driver was arrested and charged with impaired driving offences.

Lara SHCHERBAN, 57-year-old of Cavan-Monaghan Township, was charged with:

  • Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol concentration (80 plus)

On May 10, 2025, at approximately 2:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to a traffic complaint, detailing a single motor vehicle swerving all over the road and almost causing collisions on County Road 48. Officers located the vehicle and through investigation the driver was arrested and charged with impaired driving offences.

Connor COULTER, 21-year-old of Woodville, was charged with

  • Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance – Cocaine
  • Novice Drive – B.A.C. above zero

Both are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date and both received a 90 day licence suspension their vehicles have been impounded for 7 days.  

If you plan on drinking or consuming drugs, plan to not drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi or public transit, or come up with another plan that takes impaired driving out of the picture.

Fatal Collision On Hwy 7


(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON)
 – Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a fatal collision that took place around 10:28am on May 10, 2025.

City of Kawartha Lakes OPP, Kawartha Lakes Police Service along with fire and EMS were dispatched to a collision on Highway 7 near Double Tree Road. The driver of a motorcycle from Lindsay, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the tractor trailer was taken to local hospital.  

Highway 7 remains closed between Highway 35 and County Road 36 while members trained in collision reconstruction measured and documented the scene. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.

Kevin Graham – Drunk Driving

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation after receiving information about a possible impaired driver.

On Friday May 09, 2025 at approximately 6:34 pm officers responded to reports regarding a motor vehicle driving southbound on Highway 35 from Coboconk, witnesses believed the driver to be impaired. A traffic stop was conducted in Fenelon Township and the driver was arrested and charged.

Kevin Graham, 61-year-old of Lindsay, was charged with:

  • Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The motor vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days and drivers license was suspended for 90 days.

19 & 21 Year Old Arrested For Impaired Driving

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation on May 8, 2025.

On May 8, 2025, at approximately 12:15 a.m., officers were notified of a single motor vehicle collision on County Road 121, Fenelon Township. Officers attended the scene and upon further investigation two drivers were arrested for impaired driving offences.

Chantell PARADIE, 21-year-old of Minden Hills, was charged with:

  • Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Fail to Comply with Undertaking x2
  • Young Driver – B.A.C. above zero
  • Drive motor vehicle – no licence

Neveah SMITH, 19-year-old of Minden Hills, was charged with

  • Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operate Unsafe Vehicle
  • Fail to properly wear seatbelt
  • Novice Drive – B.A.C. above zero
  • Young Driver – B.A.C. above zero
  • Class G1 licence holder – accompanying driver B.A.C. .05 or above
  • Class G1 licence holder – unaccompanied by qualified driver

Both are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date and both received a 90 day licence suspension and the vehicle is impounded for 7 days.

Evan SMITH – Drunk Driving

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 35, Manvers Township, that led to an individual being charged with impaired driving offences.

On April 20, at 2:43 p.m., City of Kawartha Lakes OPP officers were conducting a traffic stop for a separate incident when they were informed by a passerby about a possible impaired driver. Our officers located the vehicle and a traffic stop was conducted.

Through investigation, Evan SMITH, 36-year-old from Pickering was arrested and charged with

–       Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

–       Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

–       Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle

–       Fail to surrender licence

In addition to the charges the driver received a 90-day licence suspension, and the motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

The accused was released from custody with conditions and will appear later in court.

2 More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – On March 12th, 2025, at approximately 4:30 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting proactive radar patrol on Country Road 36. During the patrol, an officer stopped a vehicle for speeding.

While speaking with the driver, the officer became suspicious that the driver was impaired. As a result, 55-year-old Andres Rittman from Lindsay was arrested and charged with:

–      Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)

–      Speeding – 1-49 km/h Over the Posted Limit

–      Fail to Surrender Insurance Card

–      Fail to Surrender Permit for Motor Vehicle

Later that evening at approximately 9:00 p.m., OPP officers conducted a proactive patrol near Coboconk. They encountered a vehicle idling in the live lane on Cedar Road. After speaking with the driver, they initiated an impaired driving investigation.

33-year-old John Timmins from Coboconk was arrested and charged with:

–      Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)

–      Driving While Under Suspension

Both individuals were released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay. In accordance with impaired driving laws, their driver’s licenses have been suspended for 90 days, and their vehicles have been impounded for seven days.

The OPP remains dedicated to removing alcohol and drug-impaired drivers from the road through both enforcement and public education. If you suspect a driver is impaired, please call 9-1-1. Fatal Snowmobile Collision Near Hwy 7

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Fire and EMS responded to a snowmobile collision on March 9, 2025, at 1:00 p.m.

The collision occurred on private property, but due to the severity of the injuries ORNGE was required for the snowmobile operator.

Highway 7 near Cottingham Road was closed for ORNGE to land.

The lone snowmobile operator, a 50-year-old female of Peterborough, was pronounced deceased.  

Be Prepared: Snowmobiling incidents occur in unpredictable and uncontrolled natural settings where each rider needs to always expect the unexpected. Snowmobiling can take you far away from emergency assistance, so each rider must be prepared by carrying a tool kit, spare parts, flashlight, first-aid kit and survival items such as high-energy food, fire-starting equipment and a compass.

Jamie Clarke – Was Arrested

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – On March 10, 2025, at approximately 2:00 a.m., members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an alarm call in Fenelon Falls.

Upon checking the business, officers located an individual nearby. After speaking with the individual, officers initiated an investigation into impaired driving.

As a result of the investigation,

41-year-old Jamie Clarke from Barrie was arrested and charged with:

– Operation while impaired (blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg)

In addition to the charges, the driver received a 90-day license suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

The accused was released from custody with conditions and will appear in Court at a later date.

Drug Bust – Name Released

(City of Kawartha Lakes, ON) – The City of Kawartha Lakes Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an individual following a traffic stop on Saturday evening.

At approximately 10:00 p.m. on Highway 35, an officer conducted a traffic stop, which led to an investigation into drug trafficking.

As a result of the investigation,

 41-year-old Anthony Davis-Harriot from Toronto was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking X 5
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000

The accused was released from custody with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court in Lindsay on a later date.

Kimberly Elliott – Drunk Driving

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – On February 7, 2025, at approximately 2:00 p.m., members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint on Kings Wharf Road regarding a vehicle stuck in a ditch.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with the driver, and after conducting an investigation.

34-year-old Kimberly Elliott of Barrie was arrested and charged with the following offences:

–      Operation while impaired (alcohol and drugs)

–      Operation while impaired (blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg)

As a result of the charges, the driver received a 90-day license suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Wayde Beckett – Drunk Driving

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation after receiving information about a vehicle that entered a ditch.

On Thursday March 06, 2025 at approximately 11:21 pm officers responded to reports regarding a motor vehicle that entered a ditch and required a tow truck on White Rock Road in Mariposa Township. The driver was arrested and charged.

Wayde Beckett, 28-year-old of Mariposa Township, was charged with:

  • Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 plus

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The motor vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days

3 Charged Following Traffic Stop

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged three individuals with a variety of charges following a traffic stop in Kinmount.

On Wednesday March 05, 2025 at approximately 00:05 am an officer on patrol in Kinmount conducted a traffic stop on County Road 503. The driver was found to be a prohibited driver and the two passengers were arrested for providing false information and failing to comply with release conditions.

Jason Nichols, 50-year-old of Highlands East Township, was charged with and released with a future court date:

  • Operation while Prohibited x2
  • Driving while under Suspension
  • Driving Motor Vehicle with Liquor Readily Available

Amanda Corby, 36-year-old of Highland Grove Township, was charged with and held for bail:

  • Fail to comply with release order
  • Obstruct Peace Officer

Amleto Casella, 44-year-old of Minden Township, was charged with and released with a future court date:

  • Obstruct Peace Officer

In addition to the charges the motor vehicles were impounded for 45 days and the driver received a 3 day suspension for Drive Motor Vehicle with 50mg of alcohol or over.

Kaleb Harlow-McGrath: Impaired Driving

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation following multiple calls for service reporting a possible impaired driver.

On Friday February 28, 2025 at approximately 5:52 pm officers responded to reports from other motorists regarding a possible impaired driver which was northbound on Highway 35. Officers located the motor vehicle on Macal Drive in Fenelon Township in a snowbank. The driver was found to be on a driving prohibition from a previous impaired driving conviction.

Kaleb Harlow-McGrath, 25-year-old of Fenelon Township, was charged with:

  • Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Operation while Prohibited
  • Obstruct Peace Officer

In addition to the charges the motor vehicles were impounded for 45 days.

The accused were released from custody with conditions and will appear later in court.

3 Charged After Failing To Stop For Emergency Vehicle

(City of Kawartha Lakes, ON) On February 22nd, at approximately 8:00 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in the City of Kawartha Lakes conducted a traffic stop on Centreline Road. The stop occurred after the vehicle failed to slow down and move over for an emergency vehicle.

During the stop, the officer initiated an investigation into impaired driving and drug trafficking. The driver of the vehicle registered a “warn” on a roadside approved screening device. As a result, the vehicle was towed, and the driver’s license was suspended for three days.

The investigation led to the arrest and charging of three individuals in connection with the incident.

40-year-old, Justin Wood, of Bobcaygeon with the following.

–         Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking X 2

–         Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition

–         Fail to slow down and proceed with caution for emergency vehicles or tow trucks

35-year-old,Elyssa Hanley of Bobcaygeon with the following.

–         Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking X 2

–         Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition

–         Passenger fail to wear seat belt properly

37-year-old, Mitchell Duffy, of Bobcaygeon with the following.

–         Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking X 2

–         Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition

–         Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000.00

–         Fail to comply with probation order

–         Passenger fail to wear seat belt properly

The two individuals were released from custody with conditions will appear in Court in Lindsay on a later date. The other accused was held for bail.
