Rachel Majury – Refuse To Blow

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation on March 23, 2024.

On March 23, 2024 at approximately 8:10 pm, officers conducting a traffic stop entered into an impaired driving investigation.

Rachel Majury 31 years old of Little Britain was charged with:

  • Failure or Refusal Comply with Demand

The accused are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The motor vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days.

Sean Richardson – Impaired Driving, Drive While Suspended

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation on March 23, 2024.

On March 23, 2024 at approximately 7:50 am, officers responded to a motor vehicle collision on Hwy 7 in Emily Township. An impaired driving investigation commenced.

Sean Richardson 38 years old of Coboconk was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired Alcohol and Drugs
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance
  • Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Driving while under Suspension

The accused are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The motor vehicle was towed and impounded for 45 days.

Fatal Collision Closes Hwy 7

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have closed Highway 7 for a serious collision involving four vehicles, east of Oakwood. 

On March 19, 2024, at approximately 6:08 p.m., officers responded, alongside with Kawartha Lakes Fire and EMS, to a head on collision involving four motor vehicles on Highway 7, east of Taylors Road

The driver, a 27-year-old male from Lindsay, was pronounced deceased at the scene. A 65-year-old from North Bay, was transported to local hospital with minor injuries.

Highway 7 is closed from Opmar Road to Taylors Road for the foreseeable future while members of the OPP Traffic Incident Management Team (T.I.M.E.) conduct their investigation.

Meth Bust – Kajatheepan KARUNAKARAN – Stolen Vehicle Recovered

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop in Lindsay after receiving a report of a traffic complaint, which the led to numerous charges being laid and a stolen vehicle being seized.

On March 14, 2024, at approximately 12:54 a.m., officers conduced a traffic stop on Highway 35 after a call for service regarding a traffic complaint. The driver was found to be driving with a suspended driver’s licence and was subsequently arrested. An investigation commenced, and officers seized approximately 2.7 grams of cocaine, 7.3 grams of methamphetamine, 2 cellphones, a fake licence plate, and the stolen vehicle.

Kajatheepan KARUNAKARAN, 34-year-old of Toronto, was charged with:

  • Possession of Property obtained by Crime Over $5000
  • Breach of Recognizance
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date.

John Hennekam – Drunk Driving

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation on March 07, 2024.

On March 07, 2024 at approximately 00:54 am, officers conduced a traffic stop on Highway 35 after a motor vehicle failed to stop for a RIDE program and almost struck an officer. An impaired driving investigation commenced.

John Hennekam 51 years old of Lindsay was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired Blood Alcohol Concentration over 80

The accused are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The motor vehicles was towed and impounded for 7 days.

Asid ISLAM – Drunk Driving, Cocaine, Run Stop Sign, etc.

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision and entered into an impaired driving investigation on February 24, 2024.

On February 24, 2024 at approximately 4:35 pm, officers commenced an impaired driving investigation with the driver of a motor vehicle after they drove through a stop sign and struck a westbound vehicle on Boundary Road causing a motor vehicle collision.

Asid ISLAM 30 years old of Scarborough was charged with:

  • Operation while Impaired Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 plus
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance – Cocaine
  • Disobey Stop Sign
  • Drive Vehicle with Cannabis Readily Available

The accused are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The motor vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days.
