Drug Bust – DYCK & VERLINT

(CARLING, ON) – The West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged two people with drug related offences after a traffic stop on Highway 69 in Carling Township.

On June 26, 2025, at approximately 10:00 p.m. officers stopped the vehicle for a speeding. The driver was arrested for stunt driving and a subsequent investigation revealed over $5000 of Canadian currency and suspected cocaine and heroin with a combined estimated street value of approximately $100,000. 

Breaden DYCK , 22-years-old from Ancaster was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – excessive speed
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
  • Drive motor vehicle with cannabis readily available
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – heroin

Zachary VERLINT, 26-years-old from Stoney Creek was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of proceeds obtained by crime over $5000
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – heroin

Both accused were held for bail before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound and are scheduled to appear on July 31 2025.

Kaeden MESTON Was Arrested

(CARLING, ON) – The West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged one person with multiple charges including impaired driving.

On May 10, 2025, at approximately 9:00 p.m. the West Parry Sound OPP received a traffic complaint regarding an erratic driver on Highway 69 in Carling Township. Officers were able to locate and stop the vehicle.       

As a result of the investigation, Kaeden MESTON, 25 years-of-age of Bengough Saskatchewan was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80plus)
  • Driving motor vehicle with cannabis readily available

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on June 19, 2025. The accused was also issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Spike Belt Used To Stop Stolen Vehicle – 6 Charged

(CARLING, ON) – The West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) with the assistance of the West Parry Sound OPP Crime Unit and the North East Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) have arrested and charged six people with various offences after locating a stolen vehicle in Carling Township.

On February 25, 2025, just after 5:00 p.m. officers received an Automatic Licence Plate Reader (ALPR) hit regarding a stolen vehicle from Hamilton. Officers deployed a Tire Deflation Device also known as a spike belt on West Carling Bay Road to bring the vehicle to a stop. All six occupants of the vehicle fled from police but were quickly arrested. Further investigation revealed a second stolen vehicle at a rented cottage in Carling Township.

Violet ATKINSON,19-years-old from Hamilton was arrested and charged with:

·      Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle

·      Operation while prohibited

·      Possession of Property obtained by crime over $5000 – 2 counts

·      Fail to comply with sentence – 3 counts

·      Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court

·      Fail to comply with probation order

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on April 3, 2025.

Jasiah PEDRAZA-MUNROE, 18 years-old from Hamilton was arrested and charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.

A 15-year-old, from Hamilton was arrested and charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.

A 17-year-old, from Hamilton was arrested and charged with:

  • Failure to comply with undertaking
  • Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a prohibited or restricted weapon
  • Possession of Property obtained by crime over $5000

The remaining accused were released and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on April 9, 2025. The OPP will not be releasing the name of the accused under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).

$200,00 Drug Bust

(CARLING, ON) – The West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged three people with weapons and drug related offences after a traffic stop on Highway 400 in Carling Township.

On August 21, 2024, at approximately 1:00 a.m. officers stopped the vehicle for a sobriety check and observed cannabis readily available. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in officers locating a firearm, high-capacity magazine, over $500 of Canadian currency and suspected Fentanyl with an estimated street value of approximately $200,000. 

Terrence FRAY,21-years-old from North York was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
  • Possession of a schedule I substance – Opioid
  • Passenger – fail to properly wear seat belt
  • Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order – two counts
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
  • Possession of a firearm, prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by crime
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition obtained by crime
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Opioid

Yugam RAHEJA, 26-years-old from Timmins was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
  • Possession of a schedule I substance – Opioid
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
  • Possession of a firearm, prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by crime
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition obtained by crime

Harcharan SINGH, 26-years-old from Timmins was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
  • Possession of a schedule I substance – Opioid
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
  • Possession of a firearm, prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by crime
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition obtained by crime
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis in open baggage

The accused persons were held for bail before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on August 21, 2024.

Carolyn KEENAN – Drunk Driving

(CARLING, ON) – The West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged one person with multiple offences.

On August 10, 2024, at approximately 2:00 p.m. the West Parry Sound OPP were dispatched to a report of a vehicle driving all over the road on Highway 400 in Carling Township. The vehicle was located and stopped, officers spoke with the driver and initiated an impaired driving investigation.

As a result of the investigation, Carolyn KEENAN, 60 years-of-age of Toronto Ontario was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on September 5, 2024. The accused was also issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The West Parry Sound OPP would like to remind the public to call 911 should they suspect impaired driving.

Justin LACOSSE Was Arrested

(CARLING, ON) – The West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged one person with multiple offences.

On June 25, 2024, shortly after 10:00 p.m. members of the West Parry Sound OPP were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) check on Highway 69 in Carling Township. Officers stopped a vehicle to check the sobriety of the driver and initiated an impaired driving investigation.

As a result of the investigation, Justin LACOSSE, 30 years-of-age of Parry Sound Ontario was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Driver – fail to properly wear seat belt
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on August 15, 2024. The accused was also issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

John KOSKI: Drunk Driving

(CARLING, ON) – The West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged one person with multiple offences.

On June 24, 2024, shortly after 10:00 p.m. members of the West Parry Sound OPP were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) check on Highway 69 in Carling Township. Officers stopped a vehicle to check the sobriety of the driver and initiated an impaired driving investigation.

As a result of the investigation, John KOSKI, 52 years-of-age of St Catherines Ontario was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Driving while under suspension

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on August 15, 2024. The accused was also issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
