Cheyanne KOCIELSKI – Theft & Assault

(BRANT COUNTY, ON) – On Tuesday, October 15, 2024, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Brant County Detachment responded to a theft report from a Beverly Street West business in the County of Brant.

Employees contacted police and provided information on a theft suspect who removed a quantity of merchandise without paying.

On Wednesday, November 20, 2024, as a result of the investigation, police have charged Cheyanne KOCIELSKI, 36 years-old from the City of Brantford with the following offences:

·      Theft Under $5000 – Shoplifting

·      Resist Peace Officer

·      Assault a Peace Officer

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford on December 19, 2024.

Pedestrian Struck In Hit & Run

(BRANT COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Brant County Detachment are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a vehicle involved in a fail to remain collision involving a pedestrian on Baptist Church Road in the County of Brant.

On Sunday October 27, 2024, at approximately 5:58 a.m., Brant County OPP members responded to a report of a collision involving a pedestrian. The investigation determined that an individual was on Baptist Church Road near McBay Road on October 27, 2024 between 1:00 a.m. and 2 a.m., when they were struck by a small white passenger vehicle. The vehicle involved is believed to be a newer model Mazda and will possibly have passenger side damage. It was last observed travelling westbound on Baptist Church Road. The individual sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at an area hospital.

Brant OPP Weekend Update

(BRANT COUNTY, ON) – Three individuals are facing impaired driving charges after Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Brant County Detachment members conducted proactive enforcement and responded to several collisions over the weekend.

On Friday October 25, 2024, at approximately 11:08 p.m., Brant County OPP responded to a reported single-vehicle collision on Highway 403 in the eastbound lanes. There were no reported injuries. One person was located, arrested, and transported to Brant County OPP detachment for testing.

Police have charged 22-year-old Brandon NEWTON-RAMROOP from the City of Mississauga with the following offences:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus),

·      Having care of control of a motor vehicle with liquor readily available

·      Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford, Ontario on November 29, 2024.

On Saturday October 26, 2024, at approximately 2:51 p.m., Brant County OPP responded to reports of a single-motor-vehicle into a ditch on Brant School Road. There were no reported injuries. One person was arrested and transported to Norfolk County detachment for testing.

Police have charged 26-year-old Ihor CHEMARENKO from the City of Cambridge with the following offences:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Breach of Probation order (P.O.A.)

·      Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero

·      Careless Driving

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford, Ontario on November 7, 2024.

On Sunday October 27, 2024, at approximately 12:58 a.m., Brant County OPP conducted a proactive traffic stop on Burtch Road after observing concerning driving behaviour. One individual was subsequently arrested and transported to Brant County OPP detachment for testing.

Police have charged 25-year-old Bronson HORVATH from the County of Brant with the following offences:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·      Careless driving

·      Driving motor vehicle with unsealed container of liquor

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford, Ontario on November 7, 2024.

BRANT RESIDENT LOSES $500 IN FACEBOOK FRAUD

(BRANT COUNTY, ON) – Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Brant County Detachment are investigating a fraud after a Brant County resident reported being defrauded $500 during a Facebook Marketplace transaction.

On Friday, October 25, 2024, Brant County OPP responded to a report of a fraud involving an online transaction. A Brant resident sent an e-transfer to purchase a vehicle that was seen in an online ad. The buyer was sent to pick up the vehicle at an unrelated address where it was discovered the sale was not legitimate. The investigation is ongoing.

OPP is reminding the public to never give out any personal information or funds to someone you don’t know. To learn about ways to protect yourself from scams and frauds, the OPP encourages community members to stay educated on fraud prevention by visiting www.antifraudcentre.ca.

Matthew DUMOULIN Was Arrested Again

(BRANT COUNTY, ON) – The Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested one individual after responding to a report of a theft in the County of Brant.

On September 27, 2024, at approximately 3:58 p.m., members of the Brant County OPP received a report of a theft from an address on Willow Lake Road, County of Brant. The investigation determined that an individual was in possession of a stolen vehicle.

As a result, Matthew DUMOULIN, a 37-year-old from Norfolk was arrested and charged with the following offences:

 ·         Possession property obtained by crime over $5,000

·          Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused was held for a bail hearing.

Matthew GUARINO – Assault & Traps

(BRANT COUNTY, ON) – An individual has been charged following an investigation at a Paris address in the County of Brant.

At approximately 1:06 p.m., on Sunday, September 29, 2024, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Brant County Detachment responded to a mischief incident on Hartley Avenue in the County of Brant.

It was determined that an individual had an interaction with two other people when a weapon was displayed. Further investigation revealed that the same individual constructed a device nearby at which time police were contacted.

Charged with the following alleged offences is 40-year-old Matthew GUARINO of Brant County:

  •     Assault with A Weapon
  •     Traps Likely to Cause Bodily Harm

 The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford on Thursday November 28, 2024.

Brant County OPP Weekend Update

(BRANT COUNTY, ON) – Over the course of the weekend, members of the Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were busy doing their part to keep our communities safe.

FAIL TO REMAIN COLLISION LEADS TO IMPAIRED CHARGES

(Highway 403) – On Saturday October 5, 2024, at approximately 3:37 a.m., Brant OPP members responded to a report of a collision on Highway 403 in the County of Brant. One involved vehicle left the scene of the collision, however police were able to locate it shortly thereafter. One person was arrested and transported to Brant County detachment for testing.

Police have charged Heather SIMS, 45-years-of-age from Brant County with the following offences:

·        Operation While Impaired – alcohol and drugs

·        Operation While Impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·        Dangerous Operation

·        Failure to Stop After Accident

The driver is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford at a later date.

MID-MORNING STUNT DRIVER LOSES VEHICLE FOR 14 DAYS

(Oakland) – On Sunday October 6, 2024 at approximately 10:04 a.m., members of Brant OPP initiated a traffic stop on Oakland Road in the County of Brant. The officer was conducting speed enforcement, when they located a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was stopped after travelling 139 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone.

Police have charged a 22-year-old from Woodstock with the following offences:

·        Race a motor vehicle – excessive speed and

·        Speeding in excess of 50km/h over the speed limit.

The vehicle was impounded at the roadside for 14 days and the individual’s driver’s licence was suspended for 30 days. The driver is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford at a later date.

ITEMS STOLEN DURING BREAK AND ENTER

(Burford) – On Sunday October 6, 2024, at approximately 09:57 a.m., an officer with the Brant County OPP responded to a Colborne Street West business in the County of Brant for a report of a break and enter. Some time between 1:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., on October 6, 2024, unknown suspect(s) forced entry into various structures on the property. Numerous items were stolen including tools and bicycles. The suspects and property are still outstanding.

David SCOTT – Drunk Driving

(BRANT COUNTY, ON) – Two drivers are facing impaired driving charges after Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) members responded to two separate collisions in the County of Brant on Saturday evening.

On Saturday September 28, 2024, at approximately 5:53 p.m., officers with the Brant County OPP responded to a single-vehicle collision on Bethel Church Road. It was determined a vehicle was traveling on Bethel Church Road when it left the roadway and struck a utility pole. One person was arrested and taken to Oxford OPP detachment for testing.

Police have charged 63-year-old David SCOTT, from Brant County with the following offences: 

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol or drugs

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·        Adult Dangerous Operation

·        Adult Insecure Load

·        Adult Operate Unsafe Vehicle

·        Adult Vehicle modified – fail to apply for new permit

·        Adult Drive with seatbelt assembly removed

 The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford, Ontario at a later date.

On Saturday September 28, 2024, at approximately 6:50 p.m., officers with the Brant County OPP responded to a single-vehicle collision on Middle Townline Road. It was determined a vehicle was travelling on Middletown Townline Road when it left the roadway and struck a guardrail. Police located the vehicle where one person was arrested and transported to the Oxford OPP detachment for testing.

 Police have charged 22-year-old Zachary TOTTEN, from Brant County with the following offences:

 ·        Adult Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·        Adult Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·        Adult Careless driving

·        Adult Fail to surrender insurance card

·        Adult Fail to surrender

Mary LAPOINTE – Drunk Driving

(BRANT COUNTY, ON) – One person is facing impaired driving charges after Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) members investigated a single-vehicle collision early Thursday morning in the County of Brant.

On Thursday September 26, 2024 at approximately 1:24 a.m., Brant County OPP members responded to a collision on Highway 403 in the County of Brant. It was determined a vehicle had left the roadway and collided with a tree. There were no reported injuries.

One person was arrested and transported to Brant OPP detachment for testing.

Police have charged Mary LAPOINTE, 27-years-of-age from London with the following offences:

·      Dangerous Operation

2 More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(BRANT COUNTY, ON) – Two drivers are facing impaired driving charges after Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) members responded to traffic complaints in the County of Brant over the weekend.

On Friday September 20, 2024, at approximately 10:15 p.m., officers with the Brant County OPP responded to a reported collision on Laurel Street. It was determined a vehicle was traveling on Laurel Street when it struck several parked vehicles. The driver was subsequently located and taken into custody and transported to Brantford Police Service for testing.

Police have charged 19-year-old Joshua MARRIN, from Ancaster with the following offences:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol or drugs

·      Adult Dangerous Operation

·      Adult Failure to stop after accident

·      Adult Young driver – B.A.C. above zero

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford, Ontario at a later date.

On Sunday September 22, 2024, at approximately 12:09 a.m., officers with the Brant County OPP responded to a traffic complaint on Paris Road in the County of Brant. Police located the vehicle where one person was arrested and transported to the Brantford Police Service for testing.

Police have charged 22-year-old Anyssa WOOD, from Brantford with the following offences:

·      Adult Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·      Adult Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

Jordan HAULEY Was Arrested

(BRANT COUNTY, ON) – One individual is facing several charges after a member with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Brant County Detachment initiated a traffic stop Tuesday afternoon in Newport.

On Tuesday September 10, 2024 at approximately 12:12 p.m., an officer with Brant County OPP initiated a traffic stop on Newport Road in the County of Brant. The officer observed the vehicle driving on Cockshutt Road and initiated the traffic stop to confirm valid licencing and vehicle registration.

Jordan HAULEY, 30-years-old from Brantford is charged with the following offences:

·      Adult Resist Peace Officer

·      Adult Use plate not authorized for vehicle

·      Adult Driving while under suspension

Noel BOMBERRY- Drunk Driving

(BRANT, ON) – A Brantford resident is facing charges following a traffic stop on Colborne Street East.

On August 29, 2024, at approximately 8:20 a.m., a member of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Brant Detachment, initiated a traffic stop with a passenger vehicle after it was found speeding on Colborne Street East, Brant County.

While speaking to the driver, the investigating officer observed signs of intoxication and a roadside approved screening device (ASD) test was administered, registering a failure. The driver was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Haldimand Detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Noel BOMBERRY, a 28-year-old from Brantford was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code
  • Speeding 1-49 km/h over posted limit
  • Novice driver – blood alcohol concentration above zero

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a 45-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford on September 12, 2024.

Rebecca REES – Drunk Driving

(BRANT, ON) – An individual was charged following an investigation into an impaired driving incident in Brant County. 

On August 18, 2024, at approximately 2:25 a.m., members of the Brant Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle that was located on the railway tracks near Broadway Street West and Capron Street in Brant County. 

As a result of investigation, police charged 30-year-old Rebecca REES from Kitchener, with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford on September 6, 2024.

Justin HENDERSON – Drunk Driving

(BRANT, ON) – A Waterford resident is facing charges following a traffic stop on Indian Line Road.

On August 17, 2024, at approximately 12:10 a.m., a member of the Brant Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on general patrol when they stopped a passenger vehicle on Indian Line Road in Brant County. 

As a result of the investigation, Justin HENDERSON, a 30-year-old from Waterford was

charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous operation
  • Fail to surrender licence
  • Fail to surrender insurance card
  • Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford on September 12, 2024.

Ernesto RAMELLI – Robbery

(BRANT, ON) – A second person has been arrested and charged following a robbery investigation in Brant County.

Ernesto RAMELLI, 48-years-old, from Tillsonburg has been charged with:

  • Robbery with Theft   

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford on September 26, 2024.

On August 4, 2024, members of Brant County OPP began investigating a robbery at Colborne Street West.

It was determined that two individuals entered the victim’s residence and became involved in a physical confrontation with the victim. Both suspects then removed property and fled from the residence into a black vehicle which left in an unknown direction. No injuries were reported.

Elizabeth Molly BARTLETT – Robbery

(BRANT, ON) – As a result of an ongoing robbery investigation in Brant County, one individual is facing charges.

At approximately 3:50 a.m., on Sunday, August 4, 2024, members of Brant County OPP responded to a robbery at Colborne Street West.

It was determined that two individuals entered the victim’s residence and became involved in a physical confrontation with the victim. Both suspects then removed property and fled from the residence into a black vehicle which left in an unknown direction. No injuries were reported.

Later, officers located one suspect at an address on Aberdeen Avenue in Brantford. The individual was taken into custody without incident.

Charged with the following alleged offence is 45-year-old, Elizabeth Molly BARTLETT of Brantford:

  • Robbery with Theft  

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford on September 26, 2024.

Investigators have identified the second suspect involved in this incident and are making attempts to locate them. There is no threat to public safety.
