75 Year Old Drunk Driver Arrested

(BANCROFT, ON) – Members of the Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with impaired operation during RIDE program in Hastings Highlands.

On Sunday, April 27, 2025, just before 8:00 p.m., Bancroft OPP officers were conducting a RIDE program on Peterson Road. One driver was transported to the detachment for testing, but once at the detachment, the driver refused to give a sample of their breath.

As a result, Steward CARROLL, a 75-year-old resident of Harcourt, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand

The accused’s license was suspended for 90 days and their vehicle impounded for seven days. The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bancroft on May 27, 2025.

Curtis STRINGER – Drunk Driving

(BANCROFT, ON) – Members of the Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with impaired operation after locating a truck in the ditch.

On Saturday. April 11, 2025, at approximately 1:00 a.m., Bancroft OPP officers attended the scene of the collision. Officers conducted a roadside test with an Approved Screening Device and as a result the driver was transported to the detachment for further testing.

As a result, Curtis STRINGER, a 27-year-old resident of Bancroft, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80) plus
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bancroft on May 6, 2025.

Reice FEYEN – Impaired Operation

(BANCROFT, ON) – Members of the Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with impaired operation following several complaints of a suspicious vehicle.

On Friday April 10, 2025, shortly after 7:30 p.m., Bancroft OPP officers were made aware of a suspicious vehicle on Highway 62 south of Bancroft. The driver of the vehicle performed a standard field sobriety test (SFST) and was then transported to the detachment for further testing.

As a result, Reice FEYEN, a 62-year-old resident of Bancroft, has been charged with Operation while impaired.

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bancroft on May 6, 2025.

Adriana SEMPLE – Assault

(BANCROFT, ON) – The Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police has charged one person following an altercation.

On April 10, 2025, shortly before 5:00 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance at a residence in Hastings Highlands. One person was arrested at the scene.

Adriana SEMPLE, age 25 of Hastings Highlands, has been charged with assault.

The accused was released from custody is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bancroft on May 6, 2025.

Ryan HAIG & Brian POULAIN Were Arrested

(BANCROFT, ON) – The Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police has charged two people following a report that people were digging up copper wire.

On Friday, March 28, 2025, shortly after 2:30 p.m., officers responded to a location in the Town of Bancroft, where the investigation revealed that copper wire, which had been used for an electrical unit, had been cut. 

Ryan HAIG, age 36, and Brian POULAIN, age 40, were charged with theft under $5000 and Mischief.

POULAIN was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on April 1, 2025. HAIG plead guilty to charges.

PARKS Was Arrested Again

(BANCROFT, ON) – Members of the Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested one person after a traffic stop.

On Sunday, March 30, 2025, shortly before 10:00 a.m., officers stopped a vehicle. During the investigation one person was arrested.

William PARKS of Hastings Highlands has been charged with two counts of failure to comply with a release order.

The accused was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on April 2, 2025.

Drug Bust – Naeem MOHAMMED & Jessica MCCARRELL

(BANCROFT, ON) – Members of the Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have seized over $19,000 worth of drugs during a traffic stop in the Municipality of Highlands East.

On March 29, 2025, shortly before 8:00 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop. During the investigation two people were arrested and a search of the vehicle located over 26 grams of suspected fentanyl, over 78 grams of suspected cocaine, pills, scales, and five cell phones. 

Naeem MOHAMMED, age 41 and Jessica MCCARRELL age 40, have been charged with:

  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – three counts

MOHAMMED was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on March 31, 2025. MCCARRELL was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bancroft on May 6, 2025.

5 Arrested In Drug Bust – Names Released

(BANCROFT, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit has charged five people after a seizure of illegal drugs in Bancroft.

On Tuesday, March 4, 2025, Street Crime Unit officers, assisted by members of the OPP Tactics and Recue Unit, OPP Emergency Response Team, Canine Unit and officers from the Bancroft Detachment executed a search warrant at a residence on Stimears Lake Road.

Investigators seized morphine and hydromorphone pills and a quantity of an unidentified white powder. That powder has been sent for testing. Officers also seized over $4000 in cash, a crossbow and other items typically associated with drug trafficking.

Lisa CANNING, age 63 of Bancroft and Jovane WATSON, age 27 of Bowmanville, have been charged with:

  • Trafficking of a Schedule 1 substance – three counts
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000

James MCGIBBON, age 53 of Bancroft, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – two counts
  • Traffick in a schedule 1 substance
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000

Shari Lynn Chisholm, age 45 of Bancroft has been charged with four counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

Brian PECK, age 48 of Bancroft has been charged with five counts of failing to comply with a release order.

All five individuals were held in custody until bail hearings before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville.

71 Year Old Pedestrain Suffers Life-threatening Injuries

(BANCROFT, ON) – The Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is continuing to investigate a collision involving a pedestrian on Madawaska Street in the town of Bancroft.

On Friday, February 21, 2025, shortly after 5:00 p.m., a collision occurred involved a vehicle and a 71 year old female pedestrian.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Bancroft OPP continues to investigate the cause of the collision.

The OPP wants to remind both pedestrians and motorists to stay vigilant while walking or driving in high traffic areas. This is especially important during times of reduced visibility such as inclement weather or sunset and sunrise.

Janice THEOBALD: Drunk Driving

(BANCROFT, ON) – Members of the Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with impaired operation following a traffic stop.

On Wednesday. February 19, 2025, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Bancroft OPP officers conducted a traffic stop for a Highway Traffic Act offence. The investigation determined that the driver had restrictions on their licence but did not have an ignition interlock system in the vehicle being driven. Officers also conducted a roadside test with an Approved Screening Device. The driver was then transported to the detachment for further testing.

As a result, Janice THEOBALD, a 38-year-old resident of Bancroft, has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Operation While Impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80) plus
  • Operation While Prohibited
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bancroft on March 4, 2025.

Fatal House Fire

(BANCROFT, ON) – Human remains have been located following a residential fire in Bancroft.

Officer with the Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and other emergency services were called to the fire on Meadow Court on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, shortly after 8:00 p.m.

The homeowner remains unaccounted for at this time, but investigators cannot speculate on the identity of the deceased. A postmortem examination will be required in order to confirm the identity of the individual.

The Bancroft Fire Department, Office of the Fire Marshal, Bancroft OPP Crime Unit and the OPP Forensic Identification Unit (FIS) are continuing the investigation, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(BANCROFT, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit has charged two people after a seizure of illegal drugs in Bancroft.

Earlier today (February 4, 2025), Street Crime Unit officers, assisted by members of the Bancroft Detachment, OPP Emergency Response Team and OPP Canine Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence on Bridge Street West. Four people were taken into custody, and two children were escorted to a safe location.

Investigators seized nearly 240-grams of suspected cocaine, over a gram of suspected methamphetamine, nearly 100-grams of suspected psilocybin and a quantity of hydromorphone pills. Officers also seized over $2000 in cash and a crossbow.

Ryan HOGAN, age 41 of Bancroft has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – three counts
  • Possession of a Schedule 3 substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order
  • Failure to comply with a release order
  • Fail to comply with a probation order – three counts.

Emily GRAHAME, age 37 of Bancroft has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – three counts
  • Possession of a Schedule 3 substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000

Both of the accused were scheduled to appear for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on February 4, 2025.

The two other individuals taken into custody were released unconditionally.

$18,000 Drug Bust – Names Released

(BANCROFT, ON) – Members of the Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have seized over $18,000 worth of drugs in Bancroft. 

On February 2, 2025, shortly after 9:00 a.m., officers checked on a vehicle on Buck Hill Road and observed items associated with illegal drugs in the car. Two people were arrested at the scene and a search of the vehicle officers located over 40 grams of suspected fentanyl, over 24 grams of suspected cocaine, as well as morphine and lorazepam pills.

Bradley VEINOT, age 40 and Katherine ZACARELLI age 45, have been charged with:

  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – two counts
  • Possession of a Schedule IV substance for the purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Schedule I Substance – two counts

Both of the accused were remanded into custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on February 5, 2025.

Kidnapping & Robbery – One Arrested

(BANCROFT, ON) – The Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one person following a report of a kidnapping in the town of Bancroft.

In September 2024 a resident of Bancroft was taken against his will to Ottawa and forced to withdraw a large amount of cash from different bank branches. The resident was then driven back to Bancroft and dropped off unharmed.

After a lengthy investigation by the Bancroft OPP Crime Unit, an arrest warrant was issued for an Ottawa resident.

On Tuesday, January 28, 2025, the wanted individual was located and arrested during a routine traffic stop by Upper Ottawa Valley by OPP officers.

Bienvenu MOLEMANGABO, age 22, has been charged with:

  • Robbery using firearm
  • Extortion while using firearm
  • Kidnapping while using firearm
  • Forcible confinement
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
  • Possession property obtained by crime over $5,000

The accused was remanded in custody following a bail hearing on January 29, 2025. Police believe this was a targeted incident and do not believe there to be a danger to the public.
