Sleeping Driver Arrested

(TOWN OF FERGUS, ON) – On December 24, 2021, at approximately 9:00 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report that a driver was asleep in the driver’s seat of a recreational vehicle (RV) at a gas bar on Tower Street, in Fergus. Officers attended and located the driver.

As a result of the investigation, John NAGY, 58-years-old of Centre Wellington, has been charged with Impaired Operation. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment were initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice.

Drunk Driver Arrested In Mount Forest

(TOWN OF MOUNT FOREST, ON) – On December 24, 2021, at approximately 2:00 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a possibly impaired driver operating a grey sedan. Officers located the vehicle on Main Street North, in Mount Forest.

As a result of the investigation, Aaron LOVE, 45-years-old of Holstein, has been charged with Impaired Operation and Impaired Operation – 80 Plus (mgs of alcohol per 100mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment were initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph.

38 Year Old Arrested At RIDE

(TOWN OF FERGUS, ON) – On December 19, 2021, members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) check on Tower Street South, in Fergus. At approximately 12:30 a.m., the driver of a green van entered the R.I.D.E. check.

As a result of the investigation, Adam SHAW, 38-years-old of Fergus, has been charged with Impaired Operation – 80 Plus (mgs of alcohol per 100mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment were initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph.

26 Year Old Arrested On Main Street In Erin

(TOWN of ERIN, ON) – On December 18, 2021, members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) check on Main Street, in Erin. At approximately 9:30 p.m., the driver of a motorized snow vehicle entered the R.I.D.E. check.

As a result of the investigation, Blake WALKER, 26-years-old of Erin, has been charged with Impaired Operation – 80 Plus (mgs of alcohol per 100mL of blood), Novice Driver Operate Vehicle with Blood Alcohol Content (B.A.C.) above Zero, and Fail to Wear Proper Helmet. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment were initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph.

45 Year Old Arrested At RIDE

(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) – On December 11, 2021, members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) check at the intersection of Sideroad 17 and Wellington Road 23, in Erin. At approximately 11:45 p.m., the driver of a black sport utility vehicle (S.U.V.) entered the R.I.D.E. check.

As a result of the investigation, Coralee Lynn CLARK, 45-years-old of Erin, has been charged with Impaired Operation – 80 Plus (mgs of alcohol per 100mL of blood), Failure to Properly Wear a Seatbelt, and Novice Driver – Blood Alcohol Content (B.A.C.) above zero. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day vehicle impoundment were initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph.

Officer Almost Run Down – Lucknow Couple Arrested

(GODERICH, ON) – A Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was assaulted and narrowly escaped serious injuries following an incident that took place in Goderich this week.

On Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at approximately 1:15 p.m. Huron County OPP officers responded to a mini-mall parking lot located on Victoria Street North to check on the condition of a driver that was parked in the lot.

Police arrived on scene and had an opportunity to speak with the driver in question. Upon speaking with the driver police learned the driver was failing to abide by a condition of his release. As the officer attempted to arrest the driver the accused’s partner interfered and obstructed the officer in making the arrest. The partner then reversed her vehicle in a dangerous manner into the officer. The officer was able to jump out of the way to escape serious injuries. 

Additional officers attended the scene and both parties were taken into custody.

Robin WELLSTEAD, 52 years of age from Lucknow has been charged with Fail to Comply with Undertaking. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for March 7, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Shelley WELLSTEAD, 47 years of age from Lucknow has been charged with Obstruct Peace Officer, Resist Peace Officer, Dangerous Operation and Assault Peace Officer. She has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for February 14, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

School Bus Collision Update

(PERTH EAST, ON) – The roads surrounding the area of a collision in the Township of Perth East has been reopened, but may need to be closed again for the removal of one of the vehicles.

Two students were on board a school bus when it collided with a commercial motor vehicle. One 16-year-old passenger on the bus was transported by Onge Air Ambulance. A 14-year-old passenger from the bus, and the driver of the bus were also transported to hospital by ambulance. All three injured parties received non-life threatening injuries as a result of the collision. The driver of the commercial motor vehicle was not injured.  

On January 20, 2022, at just before 3:00 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with Perth County Paramedic Services and Perth East Fire Department, responded to a two vehicle collision at Perth Road 107 and Line 45 in the Township of Perth East. A commercial motor vehicle and school bus were involved.

The investigation is ongoing, and updates will be provided as they become available.

Harriston Resident Arrested For Drunk Driving

(TOWNSHIP OF MINTO, ON) – On December 10, 2021, at approximately 6:30 p.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a blue sedan being driven in an erratic manner on Wellington Road 109, south of Harriston.

Officers located the vehicle, and as a result of the investigation, Kenneth Paul EVOY, 57-years-old of Harriston has been charged with Impaired Operation – 80 Plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood). A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment were initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph.

Hit & Run – 24 Year Old From Listowel Facing Numerous Charges

(TOWNSHIP OF PILKINGTON, ON) – On December 9, 2021, at approximately 10:45 p.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a two vehicle collision on Wellington Road 39, south of Ariss. Initial reports indicated that two vehicles had collided and that one of the vehicles did not remain on scene. Shortly thereafter, a report was received of a single vehicle in a ditch on Ariss Valley Road.

Police attended and were able to locate all parties involved.

As a result of the investigation, Cameron VOGAN, 24-years-old of Listowel has been charged with Impaired Operation, Failure to Comply with Demand for Breath, Failure to Stop after Accident, and G1 Driver Unaccompanied by Qualified Driver. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment were initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph.

22 Year Old Facing Drunk Driving Charge

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On December 4, 2021, members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) check on Eighth Line West, west of Elora. At approximately 12:30 a.m., the driver of a white sedan entered the R.I.D.E. check.

As a result of the investigation, Shawna DEVORE, 22-years-old of Wallenstein, was charged with Impaired Operation – 80 Plus (mgs of alcohol per 100mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code and with driving a motor vehicle with liquor readily available. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment were initiated as per statute. The accused was scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph.

18 Catalytic Converts Recovered – DAVIS Arrested

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers, including members from the Huron-Perth OPP Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU) have arrested and laid charges in connection with some recent theft of rims and catalytic converters from Exeter. 

As a result of some police investigation officers were able to recover a set of stolen custom rims and tires along with 18 stolen catalytic converters. Additionally, a suspect was identified and police were able to make an arrest on January 6, 2021.

Travis DAVIS, 32 years of age, from South Huron has been charged with two counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for February 28, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

22 Year Old Arrested For Drunk Driving

(BRANT TWP, ON) – On January 17, 2022 at 7:31 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a vehicle in the ditch along Bruce County Road 4 in Brant Township. Officers responded and determined that the driver had been drinking alcohol.

While in custody, the driver became combative with police.

Angelica WHITTAKER, 22-years-old, of Carrick Township was charged with Impaired Driving, Operate over 80 milligrams, Assault a Peace Officer and Obstruct a Peace Officer. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on February 23, 2022 to answer to the charges.

The driver was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

One Airlifted Following Collision Involving School Bus

(PERTH EAST, ON) – Police are on scene of a serious collision in the Township of Perth East.

On January 20, 2022, just before 3:00 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with Perth County Paramedic Services and Perth East Fire Department, responded to a two vehicle collision at Perth Road 107 and Line 45 in the Township of Perth East. A commercial motor vehicle and school bus were involved.

One occupant of the school bus was transported to hospital via Ornge Air Ambulance, and another was transported to a local hospital by ambulance.

The investigation is ongoing, and drivers are asked to avoid the area. Updates will be provided as they become available.

Another Drunk Driver Loses Control

(BRANT TWP, ON) – On January 19, 2022 at 1:38 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a single vehicle collision along Bruce County Road 3 in Brant Township. Officers arrived and determined that the driver had been drinking alcohol.

Brandon WILSON, 44-years-old, of Brockton was charged with Impaired Driving, Operate over 80 milligrams and Having care or control of a vehicle with open Liquor. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on February 16, 2022 to answer to the charges.

The driver was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Stolen Vehicles Abandoned

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – The vehicle thefts are continuing in Perth County.

The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a stolen truck on January 19, 2022, after it was taken sometime the previous night. The white 2002 GMC Sierra extended cab 3500 dually pick-up truck was taken from a residential driveway on Perth Line 88, after it was left unlocked with the keys inside.

Meanwhile, the suspects had used another vehicle in the theft – a black Honda car. After stealing the pick-up truck, the suspects ditched the Honda at a business on Perth Road 164, and fled the area. The investigation has revealed that the Honda car and the license plates attached to it were stolen out of another jurisdiction.

The Perth County OPP would like to remind citizens to keep all vehicles and buildings locked, and report any suspicious activity immediately. Consider installing security features, such as increased lighting, cameras, or alarms.
