Another Break & Enter In North Perth

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – On May 24, 2022, just after 12:00 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of a break, enter, and theft at a residence on Elma Street North in the Municipality of North Perth.

Sometime between 10:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on May 23, 2022, unknown person(s) entered a residence and stole approximately $6,500 in cash, as well as wireless ear buds, earrings, a bracelet, a watch, and some old phones.  

The public is asked to report suspicious activity immediately, and remember to lock doors to vehicles, houses, garages, and sheds. Do not leave keys with vehicles, including ATVs. Consider installing security features, such as increased lighting, cameras, or alarms.

$179,000 In Stolen Property Recovered – MCLEAN Arrested

(CULROSS TWP, ON) – On May 19, 2022, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU), South Bruce OPP Major Crimes Unit (MCU) and West Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) executed a search warrant at a residence along Concession 10 in Culross Township. 

As a result of the execution of the warrant, police seized a large quantity of stolen property. The list of recovered items includes: 2 classic cars, 1 pick-up truck, 1 hydraulic dump trailer, 1 car hauler trailer and 2 enclosed trailers. The value of the recovered stolen property is estimated to be more than $179,000.

Jonathan MCLEAN, 39-years-old, of Huron-Kinloss Township was charged with 10 counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000. The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton to answer to the charges.

BOYD From Bayfield Facing Drunk Driving Charge

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A Bayfield resident is facing an Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus charge following a traffic stop that took place this past weekend near Bayfield. 

On Saturday, May 21, 2022 at approximately 9:13 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received a complaint of a motorist that was operating while possibly being impaired. A few minutes later a Huron OPP officer observed the suspect vehicle travelling westbound on Bayfield Road at a high rate of speed over the posted 90 km/h speed limit. 

A traffic stop was initiated and while speaking with the driver the investigating officer noted the driver had consumed some alcohol. A roadside test was completed and the driver registered a Fail. Additionally, the investigating officer located open alcohol inside the vehicle. The driver was placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. Two breath samples were provided to the Intoxilizer Technician and both tests were found to be over the legal limit.

Julie BOYD, 53 years of age from Bayfield has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus). The accused has since been released with a court appearance scheduled for June 27, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Drunk Driver Arrested In Teeswater – ASHTON

(TEESWATER, ON) – On May 21, 2022, at 8:24 p.m., a South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on patrol stopped an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) along Clinton Street south in Teeswater. The officer found that the operator had been drinking alcohol.

Following a roadside screening test, the driver was placed under arrest and taken to the South Bruce OPP Detachment for testing with a Qualified Intoxilizer Technician. 

Gregory ASHTON, 46-years-old, of Culross Township, was charged with Operate over 80 milligrams, Fail to wear helmet and Drive Off-Road vehicle with no insurance. The accused will be appearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton to answer to the charges.

This charge includes an immediate 90-day driver’s license suspension and an immediate 7-day vehicle impoundment.

135 in an 80 – WARD

(PERTH EAST, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged another London resident after they were speeding more than 55km/h over the limit in the Township of Perth East.  

On May 21, 2022, just before 10:00 a.m., police stopped a vehicle on Perth Road 119 in Perth East after it was found to be travelling in excess of 135km/h in an 80km/h limit zone.

Michael WARD, 43, of London, has been charged with:

–      Race motor vehicle – Excessive Speed

A 30-day-driving suspension and fourteen-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge.

140 in an 80 – MCCABE

(PERTH COUNTY, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Kitchener resident after they were speeding more than 60km/h over the limit.   

On May 22, 2022, just after 5:00 p.m., police stopped a vehicle on Perth Road 130, near Line 32, in Perth County, after it was found to be travelling more than 140km/h in an 80km/h limit zone.

Christianne MCCABE, 32, of Kitchener has been charged with:

–      Race motor vehicle – Stunt

A 30-day-driving suspension and fourteen-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge.

More Impaired Charges

(PERTH COUNTY, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested four drivers this Victoria Day long weekend with alcohol and drug related driving offences.

On May 22, 2022, at approximately 2:30 a.m., a traffic stop was conducted to check driver sobriety due to driving observations made by the officer on Perth Line 86 in the Municipality of North Perth.

Aaron SCHMIDT, 23, of Gowanstown, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

On May 23, 2022, just after 12:00 a.m., a driver entered a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) program on Main Street North in the Township of Perth East. The investigating officer determined that the driver had consumed cannabis earlier in the day. A Standard Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) was conducted.

As a result, Dennis NEILL, 51, of North Perth, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

–      Possession of over 30g dried cannabis

On May 23, 2022, just before 5:00 p.m., another driver entered a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) program on Perth Line 20 in the Municipality of West Perth. The driver was showing signs of alcohol consumption. An Approved Screening Device was used, and the driver was arrested, and transported to a local operations center for further testing.

Nancy RADER, 68, of Dashwood, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

On May 23, 2022, just after 8:00 p.m., a traffic stop was conducted for speeding on Line 36 in the Municipality of West Perth. The officer observed the vehicle to be unsafe, and during the investigation, the driver was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. A Standard Field Sobriety Testing was conducted, but a Drug Recognition Evaluation Demand was refused.

As a result, Colleen BAILLIE, 58, of Mitchell, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

–      Traffic in Schedule I substance – Methamphetamine (Crystal Meth)

–      Failure or refusal to comply with demand

–      Operate Unsafe Vehicle

–      Speeding 1-49km/h over posted limit

All of the accused parties were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charged. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per stature.

One Dead In Campground Incident

(BRANT COUNTY, ON) – The deceased has been identified as Shelby Humble-Neale, 27 years-of-age from the City of Brantford. 

On Saturday, May 21, 2022, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Brant County Detachment members, County of Brant Fire Department and Brant-Brantford Paramedics responded to a report of multiple persons injured at a campground on Pinehurst Road in the County of Brant.

As a result of a significant weather event in the area, two people were transported to an area hospital by paramedics with minor injuries. A third person was transported with serious life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced deceased.

OPP are advising members of the public to avoid close proximity to any trees that may have been damaged by the storm, even if there is no visible sign of damage.

The Brant County Crime Unit is continuing their investigation. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Pauline SHEARER Arrested Again

(GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) – On November 27, 2021, a high value theft was reported to the Grey Bruce OPP. Officers responded and discovered that multiple items were stolen from a business located on Shane Street, in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

On May 5, 2022, The Grey Bruce Major Crime Unit (MCU) recovered stolen items valued at approximately $156,000 and the investigation continued.

On May 18, 2022, The Grey Bruce OPP MCU arrested and charged Pauline SHEARER, 42-years-old, of Owen Sound with the following offences:

·        Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000

·        Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000

·        Fail to comply with probation order

The accused was released and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound at a later date.

More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(ESSEX COUNTY, ON) – The Essex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested three drivers so far this Victoria Day long weekend with alcohol related driving offences.

On Friday May 20, 2022, at 6:11 p.m., members of the Tecumseh OPP responded to a report of a motor vehicle striking a road sign on Tecumseh Road in the Town of Tecumseh. A vehicle matching the description and the driver were located in a parking lot nearby. As a result of an investigation, Donald ROBINSON, 62-years-old of Lakeshore, was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired- Alcohol
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus) 

On Saturday May 21, 2022, at 10:52 p.m., members of the Lakeshore OPP along with Lakeshore Fire and Rescue and Essex-Windsor Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a collision involving a single vehicle on County Road 42 in the Municipality of Lakeshore. As a result of an investigation, Kyle LACHINE, 20-years-old of Lakeshore, was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired- Alcohol
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus) 

On Sunday May 22, 2022, at 4:19 a.m., members of the Leamington OPP responded to a collision involving a single vehicle on Oak Street West, Municipality of Leamington.   As a result of an investigation, Dominica BILSKI, 25-years-old of Leamington, was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired- Alcohol
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

All of the accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on later dates. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute to the accused.

Essex County OPP officers will continue to be on patrol this Victoria Day Long weekend for the annual Canada Road Safety Week campaign, the OPP will join national policing partners to conduct robust enforcement/education around inattentive/distracted driving, speeding and other aggressive driving, alcohol/drug impaired driving, seatbelt compliance and other risky road behaviours.

Kyle PRITCHARD – 130 in an 80

(WEST PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged another driver after they were speeding more than 50 km/hr over the limit in Perth East.

On May 18, 2022, just before 11:00 a.m., a police officer on general patrol stopped a vehicle on Perth Line 56A, in the Township of Perth East, after it was found to be travelling in excess of 130km/hr in a 80km/h limit zone.

Kyle PRITCHARD, 29, of Goderich, has been charged with:

–      Race motor vehicle – Excessive Speed

A 30-day driving suspension and 14-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge.

Lana NEILL – Drunk Driving

(NORTH MIDDLESEX, ON) – On May 14, 2022, at 3:23 a.m., a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), while on general patrol, performed a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle on Elginfield Road, North Middlesex.

An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was utilized. The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP Detachment where further tests were administered.

As a result, Lana NEILL, a 40-year-old of Parkhill, has been charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice at a future date to speak to the charges.

18 Year Old Vs Guardrails Results In Charges

(PERTH EAST, ON) – A driver was charged after they collided with multiple guardrails.  

On May 15, 2022, at approximately 5:30 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a collision on Perth Line 56 in the Township of Perth East. The investigation indicated that a vehicle ran off the road and hit multiple guardrails.

There were no injuries reported as a result of the collision.

Sterling GRUBB, 18, of Wellesley, has been charged with:

–      Careless Driving

–      Fail to surrender insurance card

The accused was issued Provincial Offence Notices for the offences.

Tree Involved In Hit & Run

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – One person has been charged with multiple offences after hitting a tree and leaving the scene.

On May 16, 2022, just before 1:00 a.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was dispatched to a single motor vehicle collision on Main Street East in the Municipality of North Perth.  

Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that the driver drove into a tree. Both occupants left the scene prior to police arrival but were located a short time later. The driver and passenger of the vehicle did not sustain any injuries. 

As a result, Reynaldo BARRUETA BRENA, 31, of North Perth, has been charged with:

–      Careless Driving

–      Fail to remain

–      Drive motor vehicle – no license

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Repeat Offender Arrested Again – Assault, Theft, Etc.

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a person after a domestic disturbance occurrence.

On May 15, 2022, police were called to domestic incident in progress, in the Municipality of North Perth. During the investigation, it was determined that one person involved had assaulted the other. The victim sustained minor injuries.

A 25-year-old of no fixed address was arrested and charged with:

–      Assault – spousal (two counts)

–      Failure to comply with release order- other than to attend court

–      Escape lawful custody

–      Breach of Recognizance

–      Theft Under $5,000

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
