$90,000 Drug Bust

(HURON COUNTY, ON) – Illicit drugs including fentanyl, meth and crack cocaine with a street value of over $90,000 have been seized after the Huron Perth Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) executed a search warrant was executed at a residence on Fernwood Place in Kitchener, Ontario. Additional property seized is valued at over $220,000, and includes gold and silver bars as well as stolen firearms.

39-year-old Adam LINSEMAN of Kitchener, Ontario faces 17 charges under the Criminal Code of Canada (CC) and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) including:

  • Two x Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (other than heroin), Contrary to sec. 5(2) of the CDSA;
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine, Contrary to sec. 5(2) of the CDSA;
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine, Contrary to sec. 5(2) of the CDSA;
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking -Other Drugs, Contrary to sec. 5(2) of the CDSA;
  • Careless Storage of a Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition, contrary to sec. 86(1) of the CC;
  • Nine x Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order, contrary to sec. 109(2) of the CC;
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm, contrary to sec. 91(1); and,
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon, contrary to sec. 91(2).

The search warrant was executed with support from CSCU’s in Wellington, Grey Bruce, Brant County and Elgin-Middlesex. Additional supports were provided by the Tactics and Rescue Unit, Emergency Response Team and Canine Unit. Additional thanks to Waterloo Regional Police Service for their assistance.

The accused was remanded into custody and their next court hearing is on June 8, 2023.

49 Year Old Facing Assault With Weapon & Mischief Charge

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating an incident involving a knife and mischief to property in the Municipality of Central Huron, (Londesboro) on June 4th which led to an arrest.

On Sunday June 4th, 2023, at approximately 12:15 p.m. Huron OPP officers received information from a Central Huron resident that an individual was holding a knife and had damaged the caller’s property.

OPP officers attended and secured the area for public safety. A section of roadway was closed, and traffic was diverted to allow police to safely deal with the involved individual.

As a result of the incident, a 49-year-old resident from Central Huron was located, arrested, and charged with:

–      Assault with a Weapon,

–      Mischief Under $5,000.

The Huron OPP is advising the public that there are no further concerns for public safety.

The accused is currently being held in custody pending a bail hearing on June 5th

$300,000 Meth Bust

(PERTH COUNTY, ON) – As a result of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation in Perth, Huron, and Wellington Counties, one person has been arrested, and a search warrant was executed in the City of Kitchener.

On June 1, 2023, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Huron-Perth Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with the assistance of the Elgin-Middlesex CSCU, Grey-Bruce CSCU, Wellington CSCU, Wellington OPP, Central Region Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), and the West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), executed a search warrant at a residence on Fernwood Place, Kitchener.

Police seized suspected methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine, along with two firearms, drug trafficking paraphernalia, brass knuckles, gold, and cash, with a total estimated value of approximately $300,000.

Adam LINSEMAN, 39, of Kitchener, is charged with:

·      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking- Methamphetamine (two counts)  

·      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking- Fentanyl (two counts)

·      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

·      Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order (nine counts)

·      Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

·      Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon

·      Careless Storage of a Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Another Meth Bust – Repeat Offender Arrested Again – KENNAWAY

(OWEN SOUND, ON) – On May 31, 2023, the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police received reports of a possible location for a person with multiple outstanding warrants. The Grey Bruce OPP, with the assistance of the Owen Sound Police Service, located the person and placed them under arrest. A quantity of suspected fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine, drug trafficking paraphernalia, an imitation handgun, a stun gun, brass knuckles, and a quantity of Canadian currency were located on the individual. 

As a result of the investigation, Darren Gregory KENNAWAY, 42-years-old of Meaford has been charged with the following:

·        Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

·        Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

·        Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl

·        Fail to Comply with Probation Order

·        Failure to Comply with Release Order – three counts

·        Possession of Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose – three counts

·        Unauthorized Possession of Weapon – two counts

The accused was held pending a bail hearing.

OPP Remind All Students “Beach Day” First Friday Of June

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment want to acknowledge that the first Friday of June has been declared by area students as “beach day.” 

Although not supported by authorities, students leave school with and without parental permission to attend the beaches of Long Point, Turkey Point and Port Dover. 

The OPP wish to remind all students participating in “BEACH DAY” that the Norfolk OPP will be completing enhanced patrols in and around the beach areas throughout Norfolk County.

Officers will be patrolling the beaches for the day and will be focusing their attention on those who fail to make safety a priority.

There will be enforcement of all Highway Traffic Act, Liquor, Trespassing and Criminal Code violations. Officers will be looking for underage drinking, drinking, and driving, trespassing, property damage and other actions that put other people or property at risk.

Fatal School Bus Collision – OPP Officer & Bus Driver Deceased

(EAST ZORRA-TAVISTOCK TOWNSHIP, ON) – A two-vehicle collision has claimed the lives of two drivers northwest of Woodstock.

The collision happened shortly before 7:00 a.m. on May 29, 2023, at the intersection of Highway 59 and Oxford County Road 33.

An unmarked Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) vehicle and a school bus collided in the intersection. Tragically, both drivers died as a result of their injuries. There were no students on the bus and no passengers in either vehicle.

Detective Constable Steven TOURANGEAU was with the Huron-Perth Community Street Crime Unit, Perth County OPP Detachment, West Region. He was 35 years old.

The OPP will not be releasing the identity of the other driver, out of respect for the family’s privacy.

“We are deeply saddened over this tragic incident, as two families mourn the loss of their loved ones. I offer my deepest condolences to the families, friends and colleagues affected.” – OPP Commissioner Thomas Carrique

The London Police Service will be assuming carriage of the investigation.

Three More Charged With Impaired

(PERTH COUNTY, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged three impaired drivers over the Victoria Day long weekend due to alcohol and drug related driving offences. All three drivers were caught between 8:00 p.m. on May 21, 2023, and 1:00 a.m. May 22, 2023.

On May 21, 2023, just before 9:00 p.m., Perth County OPP and Perth East Fire Department responded to a report of a vehicle on fire on Road 111 in the Township of Perth East and spoke with the vehicle driver.

Blake BINKLE, 30, of Stratford, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

On May 21, 2023, just before 11:00 p.m., police received a report of a driver of a motor vehicle being possibly impaired in Listowel. Police located the vehicle and spoke with the driver.

Rebecca MOORE, 32, of North Perth, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

On May 22, 2023, just before 1:00 a.m., police initiated a traffic stop in the Municipality of West Perth due to a Highway Traffic Act infraction.

Rebecca LORENTZ, 47, of Stratford, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

–      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

–      Driving While Under Suspension – Highway Traffic Act

All of the accused parties were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per stature.

If you suspect someone is driving while their ability to operate a motor vehicle is impaired, by drug of alcohol, call police at 911 to report it.

Another Home Invasion

(ERIN, ON) –On January 1, 2023, at approximately 8:00 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of a home invasion at a residence on First Avenue in the town of Erin. Approximately $350 worth of various items were stolen and one occupant received minor injuries during the incident. At the time, the Wellington County OPP asked for the public’s assistance in identifying two suspects. 

On January 19, 2023, at approximately 6:00 p.m., the Wellington County OPP responded to a report of a home invasion at the same residence on First Avenue in the town of Erin. It was reported that a single suspect threatened the occupants with a baseball bat. The suspect fled the scene and no items were stolen. Investigators determined that this suspect had also been involved in the earlier home invasion.  

As a result of the investigation, Ethan J. SKETCHLEY, 21-years-old of Alton has been charged with the following offences:

·        Robbery – two counts

·        Assault with a Weapon – two counts

·        Break and Enter – two counts

·        Disguise with Intent – two counts

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on July 21, 2023. 

The Wellington County Crime Unit is continuing to investigate and is asking that anyone with any information regarding the second suspect to please contact D/C Watson with the Wellington County OPP at 1-888-310-1122. The suspect is described as a white male, thin build, deep voice, wearing dark clothing and a black ski mask.

Ripley Meth Bust – DUNDAS Arrested Again

(RIPLEY, ON) – On May 23, 2023, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU), and South Bruce OPP executed a search warrant along Huron Street in the Village of Ripley 

As a result of the execution of the warrant, police seized a quantity of offence related property. The list of recovered items includes several Gallagher products and a .22 caliber Savage rifle.  The estimated value of the seized property is $2,931.

Police also seized a quantity of Methamphetamine. 

Dylan DUNDAS, 26-years-old, of Huron-Kinloss Township has been charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Possession of firearm of ammunition contrary to prohibition order – two counts
  • Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
  • Trafficking in Stolen Goods under $5,000
  • Failure to comply with Probation Order

The accused was held in custody pending the results of a bail hearing scheduled for May 24, 2023.

23 Year Old Arrested For Drunk Driving

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On May 21, 2023, at 10:55 p.m., members of the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting R.I.D.E. on Bruce County Road 15 in the Municipality of Kincardine when a vehicle stopped. 

The driver was found to have been drinking alcohol. They were placed under arrest and taken to a Qualified Intoxilizer Technician for breath tests.

Trevor FINLAYSON, 23-years-old, of Hanover was charged with Operate over 80 milligrams.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton on June 21, 2023, to answer to the charges.

An impaired driving charge includes an immediate 90-day driver’s license suspension and an immediate 7-day vehicle impoundment.

Repeat Offender Arrested Again – THOMPSON

(NORTH MIDDLESEX, ON) – On May 23, 2023, at 7:38 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to an address on Ailsa Craig Main Street in the town of Ailsa Craig, North Middlesex, for the report of a suspicious vehicle.

Police arrived on scene and observed an individual passed out inside.

Officers were able to wake the driver, at which time they were removed and placed under arrest without incident.

As a result, Shawn THOMPSON, a 38-year-old of Parkhill, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood drug concentration

·      Possession Break In Instruments

·      Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court

The accused was held for a bail hearing.  

The Middlesex OPP wants to remind the public that if you see anything suspicious or suspect an impaired driver you should contact the Ontario Provincial Police or your nearest police authority immediately.

Should OPP Enforce Traffic Laws All Year Or Just The One Week? #SafetyWeek?

(ORILLIA, ON) – Thousands of drivers chose to make Ontario roads unsafe leading up to and during the Victoria Day long weekend, with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) laying approximately 12,600 traffic-related charges during Canada Road Safety Week.    

Sadly, the OPP responded to seven road fatalities during the annual initiative, with three of the fatal collisions occurring over the long weekend. 

While the results are preliminary, the OPP laid close to 6,900 speeding charges across the province. Aggressive drivers also racked up more than 175 stunt driving/racing charges.     

Preliminary charge numbers associated with other road behaviours targeted during the campaign are as follows:

Impaired driving:    245  

Distracted driving: 144 

Careless driving:   124

No seatbelt:           622 (charges apply to drivers and passengers)

The balance of the offences for which the OPP held drivers to account were the result of other unlawful and unsafe moving violations and driver actions. 

The OPP thanks all drivers and other road users who did their part to help keep the motoring public safe during the annual campaign…and do so throughout the year.

KERR Arrested For Drunk Driving

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH TWP, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Township resident with several offences, including an Impaired Operation – Over 80 driving offence following a traffic stop on Wednesday, May 17th. 

Huron County OPP officers were conducting proactive patrols in Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Township. At approximately 2:20 a.m., officers observed a motor vehicle travelling westbound on Dungannon Road braking frequently and crossing the centre line. A traffic stop was initiated on Dungannon Road.

Police spoke to the driver and determined that they had been consuming alcohol prior to driving. The driver registered a “Fail” on the roadside screening device (ASD) and was subsequently placed under arrest for Operation Over 80 and taken into custody. The driver was transported to the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton for further breath tests with an OPP qualified breath technician.

Evan KERR, 20 years of age from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Township has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – Over 80.

The accused was additionally charged with offences under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and Liquor Licence Control Act (LLCA).

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for June 26th, 2023, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Repeat Offender Arrested After Again

(GRAND BEND, ON) – On May 11, 2023, at 7:30 p.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were contacted regarding an altercation that was taking place at a residence on Ontario Street North.   

When officers arrived, one of the involved individuals approached wielding a knife toward the officers. Other officers attended from Lambton and Huron County and ensured the safety of the immediate area by blocking portions of the roadway and evacuating neighbouring homes, while de-escalation took place. The individual was taken into custody after the successful deployment of a conducted energy weapon (‘Taser’).    

Cameron WALSH, 28-years-old of North Middlesex, has been charged with the following:

  • Assault a peace officer,
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose,
  • Uttering threats to cause death,
  • Failure to comply with probation (three counts),
  • Failure to comply with undertaking (three counts),
  • Possession of a prohibited device and,
  • Possession of a weapon contrary to prohibition order.  

The accused has been held in custody following a bail hearing on May 12, 2023.

10 More Impaired Drivers Arrested – Names Released

(GREY BRUCE, ON) – Members from the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a total of 10 drivers with impaired related offences between May 1, 2023, and May 11, 2023.

The Grey Bruce OPP is committed to improving road safety throughout Grey Bruce. Part of that commitment comes from ongoing efforts to remove drivers whose ability to operate a motor vehicle is impaired by either drugs or alcohol. The Grey Bruce OPP have charged a total of 10 drivers with impaired related offences between May 1, 2023, and May 11, 2023.

On May 1, 2023, just after 4:19 P.M., Officers responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 21 in the Township of Georgian Bluffs. The vehicle was located, and the driver was placed under arrest. Scott HENSON, 52 years-of-age from the Township of Chatsworth is charged with operation while impaired, and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus.

On May 4, 2023, at 8:30 P.M., Officers conducted a traffic stop on a motor vehicle on Highway 6 in the Township of Georgian Bluffs for a Highway Traffic Act infraction. The driver was placed under arrest for impaired related offences. Augustina RALSTON, 54 years-of-age from St. Catherines is charged with operation while impaired, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), fail to display two plates, and possession of a schedule 1 substance.

On that same day at 9:53 P.M., Officers responded to a vehicle in the ditch on Ida Street in the Township of Southgate. The driver was displaying signs of impairment and was placed under arrest. Damien GALLAND, 29 years-of-age from Shelburne is charged with operation while impaired, fail to report accident and failure or refusal to comply with demand.

While dealing with that matter, different Officers who were working in the Municipality of Meaford were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on Tom Thomson Lane at 9:54 P.M. Officers discovered the driver of the motor vehicle had failed to remain at the scene, however they were located a short time later and placed under arrest. Mitchell LOGAN, 25 years-of-age from Owen Sound is charged with operation while impaired, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and fail to remain.

On May 6, 2023, at 3:19 A.M., Officers conducted a traffic stop on a motor vehicle on highway 6 in Saugeen First Nation for a Highway Traffic Act infraction. The 17-year-old driver from Neyaashiinigmiing First Nation was displaying signs of impairment and was placed under arrest. They are charged with operation while impaired, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and novice driver – B.A.C above zero.

On the same day at 8:44 A.M., Officers were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program on Bruce Road 14 in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula. A motor vehicle entered the checkpoint and Officers were alerted to signs of impairment. Devon TANNER, 24 years-of-age from the Town of South Bruce Peninsula was placed under arrest and is charged with operation while impaired, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor.

On May 7, 2023, just after midnight, Officers were conducting another RIDE program on princess street in the Township of Georgian Bluffs. A motor vehicle entered the checkpoint and officers detected signs of impairment. Luke BOROWSKI, 46 years-of-age from South Bruce Peninsula was placed under arrest and is charged with operation while impaired, and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

On May 9, 2023, at 2:20 P.M., Officers responded to a report of an erratic driver on Highway 6-21 in the Township of Georgian Bluffs. Officers located the driver in the parking lot of a nearby business and detected signs of impairment. Mayson CARSON, 63 years-of-age from Sarnia is charged with operation while impaired, and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

On the same day at 4:43 P.M., another Officer responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 10 in the Township of Southgate. The Officer located the motor vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. While speaking with the driver, the officer detected signs of impairment. Michael PRESTON, 40 years-of-age from Southgate was arrested and is charged with operation while impaired, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), fail to display two plates, fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle, fail to surrender insurance card, and driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available.

On May 11, 2023, at 7:58 P.M., an Officer stopped a motor vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act offence on Highway 6 in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula. While speaking with the driver, the officer detected signs of impairment and the driver was placed under arrest. Terrance MOORE, 66 years-of-age from Alberta is charged with operation while impaired, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), speeding, drive – handheld communication device, driver vehicle with cannabis readily available, and drive motor vehicle with open container of liquor.

All involved drivers were released and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound, except for the young person charged on May 6, 2023, who is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton.

The Grey Bruce OPP would like to take this time to remind those who are consuming cannabis and or alcohol, that it is never ok to drive impaired. Impaired driving puts everyone at risk and is something the Grey Bruce OPP take very seriously. Be sure to have a designated driver, take a taxi, or stay overnight at your destination. Those caught driving while impaired will not only face criminal charges but will also face an automatic 30-day licence suspension, and a 7-day motor vehicle impoundment.
