44 Year Old From Huron East Arrested – Name Released

(HURON EAST, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Huron East resident with an Impaired Operation – Over 80 driving offence following a call from a concerned citizen on Friday, May 19th. 

Huron County OPP received a call shortly after 6:00 p.m. on May 19th indicating that an individual had been observed inside a Huron East business displaying signs of impairment. The same individual entered a vehicle and departed. Police were contacted and provided the caller’s observations.

Police located and spoke to the driver shortly after the call to police and determined that they had been consuming alcohol prior to driving. The driver registered a “Fail” on the roadside screening device (ASD) and was subsequently placed under arrest for Operation Over 80 and taken into custody. The driver was transported to the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton for further breath tests with an OPP qualified breath technician.

Joseph MACRAE, 44 years of age from Huron East has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – Over 80.

The accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

55 Year Old From Listowel Arrested – Name Released

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – On July 13, 2023, at approximately 8:22 p.m., officers from the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Road 157 in the Municipality of North Perth.

When officers arrived at scene, a vehicle was observed on its roof with the driver located beside the vehicle. Upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent the individual was displaying signs of impairment. The driver was arrested and transported to Perth County OPP detachment where they provided two samples above the legal limit.

As a result, John KERNOGHAN, 55-year-old of Listowel, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

–      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on August 14, 2023, to answer to the charges.

Fatal Collision

(HURON-KINLOSS, ON) – On July 15, 2023, at 4:52 a.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a motor vehicle collision on Highway 21 between Saratoga Road and Concession 12, Township of Huron-Kinloss.

Officers responded to the scene with Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to find a single passenger vehicle involved.

The driver was transported to a local hospital where they were pronounced deceased.

Road closures were placed at the scene for the protection of emergency responders; the roadway has since been re-opened.

The South Bruce OPP is continuing to investigate the collision along with members of the OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team and the Coroner’s office.

21 Year Old Facing Arson Charges – LEWIS

(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual in relation to several suspicious fire investigations. 

In the early morning hours of June 4, 2023, the Wellington County OPP responded to a report of a structure fire on Sligo Road West and a shed/vehicle fire on Cork Street, Mount Forest. A report of a yard waste bag that had been set on fire at a residence on Colcleugh Avenue, Mount Forest was also later received.   

As a result of the investigation, Chester Mackenzie LEWIS, 21 years old of Mount Forest has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

·        Arson, Damage to property – three counts

·        Arson, Disregard for human life.

The accused has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Two Vehicle Collision – 79 Year Old Charged

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On July 12, 2023, at 1:30 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Broadway Street and Princes Street in Kincardine. Officers arrived to find a pick-up truck and a passenger vehicle involved.

The driver of the passenger vehicle, a 79-year-old Municipality of Kincardine resident, was charged with Fail to yield right of way.

There were minor injuries reported at the scene.

Repeat Offender Tasered & Arrested At Wingham Hospital

(NORTH HURON, ON) – An investigation conducted by the Huron County OPP involving damage to the Wingham and District Hospital emergency entrance has resulted in several criminal charges for a North Huron resident.

On Wednesday, July 05, 2023, at approximately 5:50 p.m. police were dispatched to the Wingham Hospital for a report of a disruptive, unwanted individual that had been asked to leave the property by hospital staff. While police were enroute, a second call was received by police reporting that this same individual was attempting to break into the locked hospital doors by using a chair to break the glass. The hospital staff activated a full lock-down while the suspect proceeded to damage both sets of entry doors and numerous items inside the hospital.

OPP officers arrived on scene shortly after 6:00 p.m. and located the suspect inside the emergency department. The suspect was non-compliant, and a Conducted Energy Weapon (CEW) was utilized to safely gain control of the suspect. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Huron OPP detachment for processing.

The hospital entrance was subsequently closed for extensive repairs.

Michael HARRISON, 35 years of age from North Huron has been charged with:

  • Mischief Over $5,000,
  • Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm,
  • Forcible Entry,
  • Common Nuisance – Endanger Life,
  • Failure to Comply with Release Order.

The accused was processed, held for a bail hearing, and later remanded into custody.

Criminal Harassment – Justin LAVERTY

(WEST PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Stratford resident following a harassment complaint.  

On July 11, 2023, officers started an investigation into a harassment complaint.  

As a result, Justin LAVERTY, a 28-year-old resident of Stratford has been charged with:

–      Criminal Harassment – threatening conduct

–      Breach of Recognizance

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on August 14, 2023, to answer to the charges.

35 Year Old Facing Drunk Driving Charge

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a North Perth resident with Impaired Driving.

On July 11, 2023, at approximately 11:06 p.m., Perth OPP stopped a vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act offence on Wallace Avenue North in the Municipality of North Perth.

During the investigation, the driver admitted to consuming alcohol. A roadside screening device was administered. The driver was subsequently arrested and transported to a local operations center for further testing.

Jesse OHALLORAN, 35, of North Perth, has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on August 14, 2023 to the charge.

Fatal Collision Near Mitchell

(WEST PERTH, ON) The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision in the area of Road 164, at Line 36, north of Mitchell, in the Municipality of West Perth, involving three vehicles.

 On July 13, 2023, just after 12:00 p.m., the Perth County OPP, Perth County EMS, and West Perth Fire Services responded to a report of a collision on Road 164 involving two passenger vehicles and a transport truck.  

 The driver of one of the passenger vehicles, a 76-year-old resident of the Municipality of West Perth, was transported to a local hospital where they were pronounced deceased. 

 The Perth County OPP is continuing to investigate with the assistance of the OPP West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME). Road 164 will remain closed from Frances Street East to Line 39 for the next several hours for the investigation.

 Anyone who may have observed these vehicles prior to the collision, who observed the collision or who may have dashcam footage of the collision is asked to contact the Perth County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Fatal Collision In Walkerton

(WALKERTON, ON) – On July 12, 2023, at 1:07 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a vehicle collision at the intersection of Jackson Street and Durham Street east in Walkerton.

Officers responded to the scene with members of the Walkerton Fire Department and Bruce County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to find a passenger vehicle and a pedestrian involved.

The pedestrian was airlifted to a London hospital where they were pronounced deceased.

Road closures were initiated around the scene for the protection of emergency responders. The roads have since re-opened to traffic.

The South Bruce OPP is continuing to investigate the collision along with members of the OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team and the Coroner’s Office.

The investigation is in its early stages. Updates will be provided as they become available.

$156,000 Meth Bust In Mitchell & Stratford -Repeat Offender Arrested

(HURON and PERTH COUNTIES, ON) – An investigation conducted by the Huron-Perth Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU), Grey-Bruce Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU), Stratford Police Street Crime Team, and the Huron OPP resulted in the seizure of illegal drugs, cash, weapons, and offence-related property with a total value exceeding $156,000.

On Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at approximately 8:35 a.m. an individual was located and arrested in the Town of Mitchell, West Perth as a result of a drug trafficking investigation. Following their arrest, two search warrants were executed at locations on West Gore Street in Stratford, and Homes Street in Mitchell.

As a result of the investigation, police seized a quantity of suspected methamphetamine and hydromorphone capsules. Other seized items included digital scales, packaging material, cellular phones, a BB gun, 3D printed handgun components, a functioning taser, stolen police shirts and a police badge. The suspects’ vehicle and a quantity of Canadian currency was also seized.

The combined estimated value of the seized drugs is $133,300.00.

The combined estimated value of the seized property is $22,700.00.

Canadian currency seized is $485.00.

Kevin BARRY, 44 years of age from Stratford has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Hydromorphone,
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine,
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime,
  • Possession of a Weapon contrary to Prohibition Order,
  • Unauthorized Possession of Weapon – (taser).

The accused was processed, held for a bail hearing, then later remanded into custody with a court appearance scheduled for July 13th, 2023, in the Stratford Ontario Court of Justice.

Fatal Hit & Run- Dearl VESSIE Arrested

(MEAFORD, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has now laid charges in connection with a fatal collision in the Municipality of Meaford.

Members of the Grey Bruce OPP Detachment responded to the collision on March 25, 2023. A 44-year-old pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and the vehicle had fled the scene.

As a result of the continuing police investigation, under the direction of the OPP’s Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) the Grey Bruce OPP has made an arrest.

Dearl VESSIE, 32-years-old, from the Municipality of West Grey has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Fail to Stop at accident resulting in death – sec. 320.16(3)
  • Dangerous Operation Causing Death – sec. 320.13(3)
  • Operation while Prohibited – sec. 320.18(1)(a)
  • Food and Lodging Fraud – sec. 364

The accused will be appearing before the Ontario Court of Justice as required to answer to the charges.

Murder In Owen Sound – Dustin Noonan Charged

(OWEN SOUND, ON) – The Owen Sound Police Service (OSPS) and Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested one person in connection with a homicide in the City of Owen Sound.

On July 11, 2023, shortly after 1:00 a.m., the Owen Sound Police Service responded to a report of gun shots at an apartment complex on 6th Avenue West. Upon arrival officers located a deceased individual.

As a result of the investigation, on July 12, 2023 members of the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit arrested an Owen Sound individual. 

Dustin Noonan, 34 years-of-age, is charged with First Degree Murder, contrary to section 235(1) of the Criminal Code.

The accused has been held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound.

The investigation is ongoing under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) and involves members of the OSPS, OSPS Crime unit, OPP West Region Crime Unit, OSPS and OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS), the OPP Regional Support Team (RST), in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

Investigators believe this to be an isolated incident and that the victim was targeted.

Jeremy SCHOTT – Break & Enter, Weapon & Disguise

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – One individual is facing several charges following a break-and-enter investigation.

On Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at approximately 6:02 a.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment and the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) responded to a break-and-enter in progress at a Queen Street, Norfolk County address.

It was determined that a concerned member of the public dialled 9-1-1 upon observing an unknown individual standing near the back door of an unoccupied residence.

Shortly after arriving on scene, officers located the individual inside the residence and took them into custody without incident.

Charged with the following offences is 44-year-old Jeremy SCHOTT of Norfolk County:

  • Break, enter a dwelling house with intent to commit indictable offence,
  • Disguise with intent,
  • Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose,
  • Carrying concealed weapon.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe on Tuesday, September 26, 2023.

23 Year Old Facing Drunk Driving Charge

(BRANT TWP, ON) – On July 8, 2023, at 2:11 a.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a single vehicle collision along Bruce County Road 4 in Brant Township.

Officers responded and the driver was found to have been drinking alcohol. They were placed under arrest and taken to a Qualified Intoxilizer Technician for breath tests.

Dominic GALINDO, 23-years-old, from the Municipality of South Bruce was charged with Operate over 80 milligrams.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton on August 9, 2023, to answer to the charges.

An impaired driving charge includes an immediate 90-day driver’s license suspension and an immediate 7-day vehicle impoundment.
