Repeat Offender Arrested In Clinton

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Central Huron resident with several criminal offences following a traffic violation observed by police on December 21st, 2023. 

On Thursday, December 21st just before noon, Huron County OPP were patrolling in Clinton when they observed a vehicle driver commit a traffic violation on Princess Street East.

A traffic stop was conducted, and police spoke to the male driver who was found to be in possession of prohibited weapons. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and taken into custody. The accused was transported to the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton for processing.

Jason MCLEOD, 40 years of age from Central Huron has been charged with:

–      Possession of Imitation Weapon for Dangerous Purpose,

–      Possession of Prohibited Device or Ammunition,

–      Unauthorized Possession of Weapon – (two counts),

–      Fail to Comply with Probation Order – (four counts).

The accused was held for a bail hearing and later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for February 5th, 2024, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Officer Punched In Face – 29 Year Old From Chatsworth Arrested – Meth A Factor

(GREY BRUCE, ON) – On December 24, 2023, at 2;12 p.m., the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report that an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) was stolen from a property in Chatsworth Township.

Later that day, Grey Bruce OPP officers received a report of an ATV stuck in the mud on a trail near the area of Highway 6&10 in the Municipality of Meaford. As officers approached the ATV, officers advised that suspect that they are under arrest, the suspect left on the ATV evading police.

On December 25, 2023, at 7:48 p.m., a Grey Bruce OPP officer located the stolen ATV and suspect at a business in Owen Sound. The officer spoke with the accused who punched the officer in the face and resisted being arrested.

As a result of the investigation police have charged William Conlin a 29-year-old from Chatsworth with the following offences:

  • Assault a peace officer
  • Resist peace officer
  • Uttering threats – cause death of bodily harm
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Possession property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Escape lawful custody
  • Possession of a schedule I substance – cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance – methamphetamine

The accused was held pending a bail hearing.

Alfred St. Drug Bust – One From North Huron Arrested

(NORTH HURON, ON) – An investigation conducted by the Huron-Perth Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU), West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), and members of the Huron OPP resulted in the seizure of illegal drugs, cash, and offence-related property with a total value exceeding $4,600.

On Thursday, December 21st, 2023, a search warrant was executed at a residence on Alfred Street in Wingham, Township of North Huron resulting from a drug trafficking investigation. 

As a result of the investigation, police seized a quantity of suspected cocaine and psilocybin (magic mushrooms). Other seized items included a digital scale, packaging material, and cellular phones. Stolen property belonging to the Township of North Huron was also recovered during the warrant. A quantity of Canadian and U.S. currency was also seized.

The combined estimated value of the seized drugs is $2,103.

The combined estimated value of the seized property is $2,500.

Damon SANFORD, 25 years of age from North Huron has been charged with:

  • Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking,
  • Possession of Psilocybin (magic mushrooms) for the Purpose of Trafficking,
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.

The accused was processed, held for a bail hearing, then later remanded into custody with a court appearance scheduled in the Goderich Ontario Court of Justice.

Pervert Alert – Do You Recognize This Person?

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating an indecent act that took place in South Huron during the early evening of Thursday July 27th.

On Thursday July 27th, 2023, at 7:15 p.m. an adult female was walking a dog on South Road in the Municipality of South Huron when a light-coloured sedan or sport utility vehicle (SUV) drove up to and stopped near the female. The male suspect was alone in their vehicle and honked the horn to get the female’s attention. The suspect made inappropriate requests to the female while exposing himself, committing an indecent act. The victim was not injured during the interaction. The suspect then drove away and was last seen travelling southbound on Goshen Line, toward North Middlesex County.

A composite sketch was later completed, and the Huron OPP is requesting assistance from the public to identify this individual.

13 Year Old Pronounced Deceased Following Collision

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – A child has died following a motor vehicle collision in the Municipality of North Perth earlier today.

On December 18, 2023 just after 4:00 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with Perth County Paramedic Services, and the Perth East Fire Department, responded to a serious motor vehicle collision on Line 71, west of Perth Road 140, North Perth. A passenger vehicle and horse drawn buggy had collided.

The two occupants of the horse drawn buggy were transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. One occupant of the horse drawn buggy, a 13-year-old, was pronounced deceased at hospital. The second occupant, an 8-year-old child, was subsequently transported to a trauma centre. The driver of the passenger vehicle was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The horse also died as a result of the collision.

The investigation is ongoing, and members of the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team are assisting Perth County OPP with the investigation.

The area of Line 71 between Perth Road 140 and Road 146 remains closed for the protection of emergency responders and to facilitate the investigation, and will likely be closed for a number of hours.

52 Year Old From St. Marys Arrested

(PERTH EAST, ON) On Wednesday, November 27, 2023, just after 11:00 a.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), with Perth County Emergency Medical Services responded to a single motor vehicle collision in the Township of Perth East.

In the area of Perth Line 34, a motor vehicle entered the ditch. One person was transferred to hospital by Perth EMS. No serious injuries were reported.

Alan Edwards, a 52, of St. Marys, was charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired- Alcohol and Drugs

–      Operation while Impaired- Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

–      Drive Motor Vehicle- Not Equipped with Ignition Interlock Device

–      Driving Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on December 18, 2023, to answer to the charges.

Fatal Farm Incident

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On December 11, 2023, at approximately 4:30 p.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an injury call at a farm on Eramosa-Garfraxa Townline. It was reported that an individual was injured in a farming accident.

OPP along with Centre Wellington Fire Rescue and Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Services responded. A 27-year-old Erin resident was pronounced deceased at scene.

OPP are assisting the Office of the Chief Coroner with the investigation.

Fatal Collision – Donnybrook Line & Belgrave Road

(ASHFIELD COLBORNE WAWANOSH TOWNSHIP, ON) – A two-vehicle intersection-related motor vehicle collision involving a passenger vehicle and a semi truck/trailer combination has claimed the life of a Perth East resident. 

Just after noon on December 12th, 2023, Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Huron County Paramedic Services and the Lucknow Fire Department responded to the intersection of Donnybrook Line and Belgrave Road in Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Township after receiving a 9-1-1 call about a collision.

Upon arrival, emergency services located both heavily damaged vehicles and discovered that the driver of the passenger vehicle sustained fatal injury and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Members from the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management & Enforcement (TIME) Team attended the scene to assist with the collision investigation. 

The investigation is ongoing, and the cause of the collision is being investigated. 

The deceased is a 20-year-old resident of Perth East.

Another One From Brockton Arrested

(BRUCE TWP, ON) – On December 9, 2023, at 4:18 a.m., members of the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a break and enter in progress along Concession 2 in Bruce Township. Officers responded to the scene and located an individual who was taken into custody without incident.

Officers determined the person in custody had been drinking alcohol, so they were taken to a Qualified Intoxilizer Technician for breath tests.

Steven LLOYD, 63-years-old, from the Municipality of Brockton was charged with:

  • Impaired Driving
  • Operate over 80 milligrams
  • Unlawfully in Dwelling House
  • Mischief – Destroys Property
  • Trespassing at Night

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton on March 6, 2024, to answer to the charges.

An impaired driving charge includes an immediate 90-day driver’s license suspension and an immediate 7-day vehicle impoundment.

64 Year Old From Kincardine Arrested

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On December 10, 2023, at 6:37 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a two-vehicle collision along Upper Lorne Beach Road in the Municipality of Kincardine. Officers responded to find a golf cart had struck a parked vehicle.

The driver was found to have been drinking alcohol.

They were placed under arrest and taken to a Qualified Intoxilizer Technician for breath tests.

Timothy RYDER, 64-years-old, from the Municipality of Kincardine was charged with:

  • Impaired Driving
  • Operate over 80 milligrams

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton on February 7, 2024, to answer to the charges.

There were no injuries reported at the scene. 

An impaired driving charge includes an immediate 90-day driver’s license suspension and an immediate 7-day vehicle impoundment.

49 Year Old Arrested After Ditching Vehicle – Name Released

(WEST PERTH, ON) On Saturday, December 2, 2023, just after 3:00 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision in the Municipality of West Perth.

In the area of Perth Line 32, a motor vehicle entered the ditch. No serious injuries were reported.

James Leonard, 49, of Huron-Kinloss Township, was charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired- Alcohol and Drugs

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on January 22, 2024, to answer to the charge.

Assault Somewhere In South Huron – 34 Year Old Arrested – Name Released

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a complaint of an assault that took place in South Huron on Tuesday November 28th.

On November 28th, 2023, just after 8:00 a.m. Huron OPP officers received a report of an assault that had taken place at a business location in South Huron at approximately 6:30 a.m. The victim received minor injury from the assault. The suspect was later located, arrested, and charged the same day.

Rusty OBEDOZA, 34 years-of-age of South Huron has been charged with the following offence:

–      Assault Causing Bodily Harm – Choking.

The accused was later released from custody with a court appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on the 8th of January, 2024.

Another Assault In Seaforth – 44 Year Old Arrested – Name Released

(HURON EAST, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a complaint of an assault that took place in Seaforth on Wednesday November 29th.

On November 29th, 2023, at 8:00 p.m. Huron OPP officers received a report of an assault that had taken place at a residence in the Town of Seaforth, Municipality of Huron East. The victim received minor injury from the assault. The investigation revealed that an edged weapon was brandished, and threats were made toward the victim by the suspect. The suspect was subsequently arrested and charged.

Eric GROOT, 44 years-of-age from Huron East been charged with the following offences:

–      Assault Causing Bodily Harm – Choking,

–      Assault With a Weapon,

–      Uttering Threats to Cause Bodily Harm or Death.

The accused was later released from custody with an appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on January 29th, 2023.

Assault In Seaforth – 57 Year Old With NFA Arrested

(HURON EAST, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a complaint of an assault that took place in Seaforth on Wednesday November 29th.

On November 29th, 2023, just after 6:00 p.m. Huron OPP officers received a report of an assault that had taken place outside a residence in the Town of Seaforth, Municipality of Huron East. The victim received minor injury from the assault. The investigation revealed that threats were made toward the victim by the suspect. The suspect was located by police shortly after and they were arrested and charged.

David BERRY, 57 years-of-age of no fixed address been charged with the following offences:

–      Assault,

–      Uttering Threats to Cause Bodily Harm or Death.

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing and later released with an appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on January 8th, 2024.

Fatal Collision – 39 Year Old Facing Criminal Charges

(CARRICK TWP, ON) – On November 24, 2022, at 7:33 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Bruce County Road 28 and Bruce County Road 6 in Carrick Township.

The South Bruce OPP continued to investigate the collision along with members of the OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team and the Coroners office.

As a result of the police investigation, criminal charges were laid:

Sean BRYCE, 39-years-old, from the Municipality of Saugeen Shores was charged with:

  • Dangerous Operation Causing Death
  • Impaired Operation Causing Death
  • Dangerous Operation Causing Bodily Harm
  • Impaired Operation Causing Bodily Harm

The accused remains in custody pending the results of a show cause hearing scheduled for December 15, 2023.
