Cosmo TEDESCO – Sexual Assault

(COUNTY OF WELLINGTON, ON) – A recent criminal investigation conducted by Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) uniform members and Crime Unit has resulted in sexual assault and another sex-related offence being laid against a City of Guelph resident.

The charges stem from incidents that occurred in November, 2020.

Cosmo TEDESCO, 71-years-old of Guelph has been charged with Sexual Assault and Sexual Interference contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph at a future date to answer to the charges.

Chantal TURGEON – Drunk Driving

(OXFORD COUNTY, ON) – On December 8, 2020, at approximately 10:20 p.m., the Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a disturbance on Curries Road, Norwich Township.

Investigation determined that police were called to a residence for an unknown dispute and upon arrival, located a vehicle leaving the driveway.

A traffic stop was conducted to ascertain details of the incident. Police spoke with the driver and it became apparent that the driver had consumed alcohol.

An Approved Screening Device (ASD) test was administered, resulting in a fail. The driver was taken into custody and transported to detachment for further testing.

As a result, 44-year-old Chantal TURGEON of Woodstock was charged with the following offences:

  •  Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
  •  Possess Unmarked Cigarettes

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock at a later date.

Child Sexually Assaulted – Sean LARGE Arrested

(COUNTY OF WELLINGTON, ON) – In late August 2020, the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) commenced an investigation into a report of a sexual assault and other sex-related offences that occurred in July 2020 in the Town of Erin.

On December 3, 2020, Sean Michael LARGE, 41-years-old, of the Town of Erin was charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Sexual Assault on a Person Under 16 Years of Age
  • Invitation to Sexual Touching on a Person Under 16 Years of Age
  • Sexual Interference

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph at a later date in 2021 to answer to the charges.

Rayne LEFEUVRE – Assault

(CHATSWORTH, ON) – On December 7, 2020 at 11:51 p.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Officers were assisting a prisoner, who was lodged in a holding cell at the Grey Bruce OPP Detachment in Chatsworth from an earlier unrelated incident. The accused was being removed from the holding cell when he assaulted an officer. As well, the accused coughed in an officer’s face while yelling Covid repeatedly.

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Rayne LEFEUVRE, 22 years-of-age, from Grey Highlands, ON with Assaulting a Peace Officer, section 270(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused was released on an Appearance Notice and must appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on January 14, 2021.

Riley STEWART Arrested Again – Break & Enter

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – On Tuesday, December 8, 2020, at approximately 4:39 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Norfolk County Detachment responded to a 9-1-1 emergency call for a break and enter in progress at a Patterson Street, Simcoe, Norfolk County address.

It was determined that a Good Samaritan witnessed a break and enter in progress and contacted police. The individual fled from area and was subsequently located by officers and was taken into custody without incident.

Further investigation determined that the same person committed other offences at a neighbouring property.

As a result, police charged 21-year-old Riley STEWART of Norfolk County, Ontario with the following offences:

  • Break, Enter dwelling house,
  • Theft under $5,000,
  • Mischief – destroys or damages property, and
  • Fail to comply with probation order (2 counts).

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe at a later date.

Fatal Collision Near Goderich

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – This morning at approximately 11:08 a.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers along with paramedics from Huron County Paramedic Services responded to a single vehicle crash located on Bluewater Highway just north of Goderich. 

Upon arrival emergency responders located a pickup truck that had left the roadway and collided with the guard rail on the bridge. 

The driver, a 68-year-old from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh was transported to hospital by ambulance and was later pronounced deceased.

The subsequent investigation has determined the deceased died as a result of a medical event not from injuries sustained in the crash.

Bluewater Veteran’s Highway (Highway 21) has since re-opened.

Impaired Driver Stuck On Roundabout – CASAGRANDE

(TOWNSHIP OF PUSLINCH, ON) – On December 2, 2020 at approximately 12:10 a.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded a report of a vehicle that was stuck on a roundabout at Wellington Road 34 at Brock Road in Aberfoyle.  

Police attended and while speaking with the driver, formed the opinion that they were impaired by drugs. A substance believed to be fentanyl was located in the vehicle.  The driver was arrested and transported to a local police station for further tests.

Bruno CASAGRANDE, 52-years-old of Brantford has been charged with Driving while Impaired by Drug contrary to the Criminal Code, Possession of a Controlled Substance-Fentanyl contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act and Driving While Suspended contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph on January 5, 2021.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered – Methamphetamine A Factor – ARTHURS & WATT –

(CITY OF GUELPH, ON) – On December 5, 2020, members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) check on the Hanlon Expressway near Wellington Street in the City of Guelph.

At approximately 1:40 a.m., a black passenger vehicle entered the R.I.D.E. check. While speaking with the occupants, officers discovered drug paraphernalia and small quantities of substances believed to be Fentanyl and Methamphetamine.    

Further Investigation revealed that the vehicle was reported stolen from an address in the Region of Waterloo.  Two occupants were subsequently arrested.

Natalie Jean ARTHURS, 25-years-old of Guelph has been charged with Possession of Property Obtained by a Crime contrary to the Criminal Code and Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance-Methamphetamine contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act.

Tyler WATT, 29-years-old of the Town of Minto has been charged with Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance-Opioid contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act

Both accused are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on January 5, 2021 to answer to the charges.

More Area Break And Enters

(PERTH EAST, ON) – Two residences were victim to break and enters last week, and both are on the same road in the Township of Perth East.

On November 30 2020, just after 5:30 a.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received the first report of a break and enter that had occurred at a residence on Road 145. Unknown suspect(s) entered a garage overnight, and rummaged through a vehicle. In this incident, money and bank cards were stolen.

Further, shortly after 8:00 a.m. on November 30 2020, the Perth County OPP received a second report of a break and enter, also on Road 145. Again, a garage was entered and a variety of items, including a GPS, sunglasses, motorcycle helmets, and money were stolen.

The Perth County OPP would like to remind the public to keep vehicles locked at all times, and never leave keys in, or near, a vehicle. Unlocked vehicles become easy targets, and can be used to commit other crimes, including break and enters, or driving offences, such as impaired driving (by drugs or alcohol). Stolen vehicles also pose a risk to the public when drivers flee from police, driving in a dangerous manner in order to evade arrest. Stolen credit cards can be used to make purchases before the owner ever notices that they are missing.

Home Invasion – Joel TURNER Arrested Again

(WEST PERTH, ON) – One person has been arrested and charged after they broke into a residence in the Municipality of West Perth.

On November 30 2020, just before 6:00 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a break and enter that had just occurred at a residence on Perth Road 180, and the suspect was still in the residence. The home owners were present at the time, and managed to exit the residence to call police.

When police arrived on scene, they found the suspect had damaged a door to gain entry into the residence, and was in possession of a knife. The suspect was arrested without incident.

As a result, Joel Jeffrey TURNER, 31, has been charged with:

  • Break, Enter Dwelling House – Commit Indictable Offence
  • Failure to Comply with Release Order (two counts)

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Attempted Theft Of ATM Cash Box In Listowel

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating after suspects attended a gas station in the Municipality of North Perth and attempted to steal the cash box from the Automated Teller Machine (ATM).

On November 28, 2020, at approximately 12:30 a.m., two suspects attended the gas station on Mitchell Road South, Listowel, and identified themselves as “security personnel”. The first suspect had an ID badge and opened the ATM with a key. Staff became suspicious when the suspects pressed buttons on the screen, which resulted in an “error”. When an employee confronted the suspects, they quickly left the business in a vehicle.

The suspects are described as:

  • Suspect 1 – Male, 5’9″, older, with some grey hair and facial hair, wearing dark glasses, a dark jacket, and a face mask
  • Suspect 2 – Male, dark hair, wearing a blue shirt with “security” written on it.

The suspects left in a vehicle, which was a blue BMW 320i, with a licence plate of CPVT925.

Tyler MANLEY-POOLE – Impaired Driving

(PERTH EAST, ON) – A 21-year-old driver has been charged with impaired driving after a collision on Perth Line 34 last week.

On November 30 2020, just after 3:00 a.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single vehicle collision on Perth Line 34, near Road 102, in the Township of Perth East. The investigation revealed that the vehicle was travelling eastbound, when it left the roadway and hit a culvert in the ditch. The vehicle then continued driving in the ditch for a while before stopping. The lone occupant of the vehicle was not injured, and was arrested at the scene for impaired driving.

As a result, Tyler MANLEY-POOLE, 21, of Stratford, has been charged with:

  • Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

A 90-day driving suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Fatal Collision Near Wroxeter

(MORRIS-TURNBERRY, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers are currently on scene of a two-vehicle fatal crash that has taken place southwest of Wroxeter.

This evening at approximately 6:38 p.m., Huron County OPP, Huron County Paramedic Services and area firefighters responded to the crash scene located on Brussels Line (Huron County Road #12) just north of C Line Road.

A pickup truck and sport utility vehicle collided head-on.

The driver of the sport utility vehicle was transported to a local hospital by ambulance and was later pronounced deceased.  

The deceased has been identified as 37-year-old Krystal MCEWEN from Kitchener.

A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place tomorrow.

The driver of the pickup truck was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital. 

Members from the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management & Enforcement (TIME) Team are currently on scene assisting with the collision investigation.

Brussels Line (Huron County Road #12) remains closed between Amberley Road and Harriston Road. Please take an alternate route to avoid a delay.

Owl Stuck In Grille Saved

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On December 5, 2020 at 10:36 a.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a single vehicle collision along Highway 21 in the Municipality of Kincardine. The responding officer arrived and found a Snowy Owl was stuck in the vehicle’s grille.

Investigation revealed that the owl had flown into the driver’s path causing minor damage to the vehicle and an injury to the owl’s wing.

The injured owl was picked up by Another Chance Wildlife Rehabilitation service where it will be cared for.

Two More Drunk Drivers – LUDWIG & UJAGARSINGH

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County Detachment have charged two individuals with drinking and driving offences in Haldimand County.

On Friday December 4, 2020 at 6:16 p.m., OPP responded to a traffic hazard complaint on Highway 6 in Caledonia where it was reported a pickup truck towing a trailer appeared broken down and was partially in a live lane of traffic.

During the interaction with the driver, it was determined that the driver had consumed alcohol.

Officers administered an Approved Screening Device test which the driver had failed.

OPP has charged 33-year-old Daniel LUDWIG of Mount Hope, ON with:

  • Driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood

Just over four hours later at 10:25 p.m., OPP responded to Haldimand Road 55 near Highway 6 in Jarvis after a passer-by noticed a vehicle in the ditch.

When officers spoke with the driver, signs of impairment were detected and the driver was placed under arrest.

OPP has charged 30-year-old Christopher UJAGARSINGH of Oakville, ON with:

  • Impaired operation of a motor vehicle
  • Driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood

The accused individuals had their drivers licences suspended for a minimum of 90 days and vehicles were impounded.

Both are to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga at a later date to answer to the charges.
