Speeder From Stratford Has Vehicle Impounded

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Stratford resident with Racing after he was caught speeding well above the speed limit last night.

At approximately 7:40 p.m. on May 31, 2021 a Huron County OPP officer was patrolling eastbound on Huron Road when the officer spotted a sport utility vehicle travelling westbound at a high rate of speed. A RADAR device was utilized and the speed of the vehicle was measured at a speed nearly 70 kilometres over the posted 80 km/h speed limit.

A traffic stop was initiated and the driver was subsequently charged with Racing. Joao DEOLIVEIRA, 46 years of age from Stratford has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle – Excessive Speed. The defendant now has a court appearance scheduled for July 6, 2021 at Provincial Offences Act Court in Goderich. His licence was automatically suspended for seven days and his vehicle was towed and impounded.

Break & Enter South Of Wingham – Electronics & Cash Stolen

(NORTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a break, enter and theft occurrence that took place south of Wingham last week.

Investigators have since learned the thief attended the victim’s business located on London Road sometime between 11:00 p.m. on May 27th and 6:00 a.m. on May 28th. The thief pried their way into the business through a man door and once inside the thief stole some cash from a cash box, two older model Samsung Galaxy tablets, an Epson projector, keys to some vehicles and some diagnostic equipment.

In total the stolen items are estimated to be worth approximately $5,000.

George SEWERS Arrested For Vandalizing Downtown Wingham

(NORTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid criminal charges against a Wingham resident following a mischief occurrence that took place in Wingham last weekend. 

Shortly after 8:00 p.m. on May 28, 2021 Huron OPP officers received a call from a witness that reported a suspect was walking up and down Josephine Street spray painting various street signs, street lights and store fronts. An officer responded to the area and was able to locate the suspect. The accused was taken into custody and was ultimately charged.

George SEWERS, 28 years of age from Wingham has been charged with six counts of Mischief Under $5,000. The accused has since been released from custody with a court date scheduled for July 5, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Construction Tools Stolen In North Perth

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – Early Monday May 31, 2021, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a break, enter and theft to a residence under construction on Line 90, in the Municipality of North Perth.

Sometime between Saturday May 29 and Sunday May 30, 2021 an unoccupied residence was entered, and construction tools removed. The investigation is currently on-going at this time.

Cows Stolen From Farmer’s Field

(PERTH EAST, ON) – On Thursday May 27, 2021 just after 10:00 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a theft of cattle from a farm property on Perth Road 110 in the Township of Perth East.

Sometime during the day on May 27, unknown suspect(s) attended a rural farm property and took two young Jersey cows from a field. The investigation is currently on-going at this time.

More Speeders Have Vehicle Impounded

(WELLINGTON COUNTY, ON) – Since May 25, 2021, four people have been charged with stunt driving in Wellington County.

On May 25, 2021 at approximately 6:45 a.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting radar and monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 10 in the Township of Mapleton.  The officer observed a motorcycle travelling southbound at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was measured on radar and was found to be travelling in excess of 160km/h in an 80km/h limit zone.

Isaak WALL, 38-years-old of Mapleton Township, has been charged with Race Motor Vehicle – Excessive Speed and Speeding, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

On May 27, 2021 at approximately 8:00 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting radar and monitoring traffic on Highway 6 in the Township of Centre Wellington.  The officer observed a passenger vehicle travelling at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was measured on radar and was found to be travelling in excess of 135km/h in an 80km/h limit zone.

Elsie KENWELL, 25-years-old of Harriston, has been charged with Race Motor Vehicle – Excessive Speed and Driving without Insurance.

On May 28, 2021 at approximately 1:45 a.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting radar and monitoring traffic on Highway 6 near Eighth Line in Guelph-Eramosa Township.  The officer observed a passenger vehicle travelling southbound at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar and was found to be travelling at 140km/h in an 80km/h limit zone.

A 17-year-old resident of Guelph has been charged with Stunt Driving-Excessive Speed, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

On May 30, 2021 at approximately 8:45 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic and conducting radar on Wellington Road 109 in the Township of Wellington North. The officer observed a passenger vehicle travelling eastbound at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 135 km/h.

Lauren Elisabeth ROTHFISCHER, 23-years-old of Oakville, has been charged with Stunt Driving-Excessive Speed.

In each incident, a seven-day driving suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused drivers are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, Provincial Offences in Guelph at a later date to answer to the charges.

Thieves Arrested In Listowel – WELSH & TACHAUER

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – On Friday May 28, 2021 just before 1:00 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a theft from a business on Mitchell Road South in Listowel.

Jeremy WELSH, 23, of North Perth has been charged with:

  • Theft Under $5000-Shoplifting

Kody TACHAUER, 25, of North Perth has been charged with:

  • Theft Under $5000-Shoplifting

Both accused individuals were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge.

Drunk Driver Also Facing Drug Charges

(SAUGEEN FIRST NATION, ON) On May 30th, 2021 at 1:48 a.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on a motor vehicle on Highway 21, near Christine Street, in the Saugeen First Nation.  

Officers spoke with the involved vehicle driver and passenger. The driver was arrested for impaired driving and other drug related offences. The passenger was also arrested for several criminal offences.

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Samantha JOHNSON, 39 years-of-age, from Saugeen First Nation, with the following offences:

  • Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs, section 320.14(1)(a)  Criminal Code of Canada CCC
  • Two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, section 88 CCC
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine, section 5(2) Controlled Drugs and Substance Act CDSA
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine, section 5(2) CDSA
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid, section 5(2) CDSA   

Grey Bruce OPP have also charged Christie JOHNSON, 38 years-of-age, from Saugeen First Nation with the following offences:

  • Assault a peace officer, section 270(1)(a) CCC
  • Obstruct a peace officer, section 129(a) CCC
  • Two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, section 88 CCC
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine, section 5(2) Controlled Drugs and Substance Act CDSA
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine, section 5(2) CDSA
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid, section 5(2) CDSA   

Both accused were held for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice on May 31, 2021.

Drunk Driver Arrested Following Collision

(Middlesex Centre, ON) – On May 30, 2021 at 4:37 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police, London-Middlesex EMS and Middlesex Centre Fire were dispatched to Amiens Road, Middlesex Centre, just north of Glendon Drive, for the report of a single motor vehicle collision.

As a result, Ioan MALAIU, a 51-year-old of London, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on August 12, 2021 to speak to the charges.

Middlesex OPP Weekend Report

(MIDDLESEX, ON) – Over the course of the weekend, members of the Middlesex County, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were busy doing their part to keep our communities safe. 

(Middlesex Centre, ON) – TRAFFIC COMPLAINT RESULTS IN IMPAIRED CHARGE

On May 28, 2021 at 3:08 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police received a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Denfield Road, Middlesex Centre. The vehicle was located on Egremont Drive, at which point a traffic stop was initiated.

As a result, Candace FARIA, a 47-year-old of Delaware, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on July 7, 2021 to speak to the charges.

(London, ON) – MULTIPLE TRAFFIC COMPLAINTS RESULTS IN IMPAIRED CHARGE

On May 29, 2021 at 8:41 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police received multiple complaints of a possible impaired driver on Highway 401 westbound. The vehicle was located at Highbury Avenue at which point a traffic stop was initiated.

As a result, Karen DAVIS, a 47-year-old of Sarnia, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol, section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on July 19, 2021 to speak to the charges.

(Southwest Middlesex, ON) – TRAFFIC STOP RESULTS IN IMPAIRED CHARGE

On May 29, 2021 at 7:54 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police observed a vehicle on Victoria Street in Glencoe at which point a traffic stop was initiated.

As a result, Thomas LEWIS, a 36-year-old of Glencoe, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol, section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  •  Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on July 14, 2021 to speak to the charges.

Drunk Driver From Owen Sound Arrested

(GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) – On May 29th, 2021 at 7:39 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint involving a driver that was operating a motor vehicle in a ditch on Somers Street, just outside of Owen Sound, in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.     

OPP officers attended the scene and arrested the vehicle driver for impaired driving after they failed a roadside screening device. A breath test recorded readings over the legal limit of 80 milligrams (mgs) of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. 

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Kenneth BURROWS, 31 years-of-age, from Owen Sound with operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, section 320.14(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada (CCC) and operation while impaired with blood alcohol concentration 80 mgs or more, section 320.14(1)(b) CCC.

The accused’s driver’s licence is suspended for 90 days and the vehicle they were operating was towed and will be impounded for seven days.

The accused must attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on July 8, 2021.

Drunk Driver From Dundalk Arrested – Drugs, No Licence, etc.

(GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) – On May 29th, 2021 at 6:50 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Grey Road 2, near the Village of Maxwell, in the Municipality of Grey Highlands.    

OPP officers attended the scene and arrested the vehicle driver for impaired driving after they failed a roadside screening device. A breath test recorded readings over the legal limit of 80 milligrams (mgs) of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. 

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Ron HAMILTON, 40 years-of-age, from Dundalk with the following offences:

  • Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, section 320.14(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)
  • Operation while impaired with blood alcohol concentration 80 mgs or more, section 320.14(1)(b) CCC
  • Failure to comply with Undertaking, section 145(4)(a) CCC
  • Drive vehicle with Cannabis readily available, section 12(1) Cannabis Control Act
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor, section 32(1) Liquor Licence Act
  • Drive motor vehicle – no licence, section 32(1) Highway Traffic Act  

The accused’s driver’s licence is suspended for 90 days and the vehicle they were operating was towed and will be impounded for seven days.

The accused must attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on July 15, 2021.

Drunk Driver From Meaford 2X Limit

(GEORGIAN BLUUFS, ON) – On May 28th, 2021 at 4:10 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint involving a possible impaired driver on Highway 21, near Highway 6, near Springmount, in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.   

OPP officers located this vehicle and arrested the vehicle driver for impaired driving. A breath test recorded readings over twice the legal limit of 80 milligrams (mgs) of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. 

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Daniel LOCKING, 58 years-of-age, from Meaford with:

  • Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, section 320.14(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)
  • Operation while impaired with blood alcohol concentration 80 mgs or more, section 320.14(1)(b) CCC
  • Having care and control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor, section 32(1) Liquor Licence Act  

The accused’s driver’s licence is suspended for 90 days and the vehicle they were operating was towed and will be impounded for seven days.

The accused must attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on July 8, 2021.

Carly JOHNS Arrested Again – Officer Assaulted

(GODERICH, ON) – A resident of Exeter is facing a number of criminal charges following an arrest made by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers earlier this month.

On May 19, 2021 at approximately 8:45 p.m. Huron OPP officers received information that an individual was just observed out in the public failing to abide by her court imposed curfew condition. 

Officers responded to Suncoast Drive and South Street and were successful in locating the suspect. During the arrest of the accused she resisted and assaulted one of the officers. A subsequent search of the accused found her to be in possession of suspected fentanyl.

Carly JOHNS, 26 years of age from South Huron has been charged with the following offences:

·        Assault Peace Officer

·        Resist Peace Officer

·        Possession of a Schedule I Substance

·        Fail to Comply with Probation Order – 4 Counts

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for June 28, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Another KERR Arrested For Drunk Driving

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers have charged a Central Huron resident with an Operation Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus charge following a traffic investigation early this morning.

This morning at approximately 12:20 a.m. a Huron OPP officer came across a pickup truck that was stopped on Winthrop Road near London Road. Upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer noticed signs the driver had consumed some alcohol. 

A roadside screening test was conducted and the driver registered a fail. The driver was placed under arrest and was subsequently transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. The driver provided two samples of breath to the qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both tests were analyzed to be above the legal limit.

Nathan KERR, 34 years of age from Central Huron has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for July 12, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. The accused’s vehicle was towed and his driver’s licence has been suspended for an automatic 90 days.
