29 Year Old Caught Going 135 in an 80

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Kitchener driver after they were speeding more than 50 km/h over the limit in North Perth.

On September 4, 2021, just after 12:00 a.m., police stopped a vehicle on the Perth Line 86, in the Municipality of North Perth, after it was found to be travelling in excess of 135 km/h in an 80km/h limit zone.

As a result, Kahlid HAREDO, 29, of Kitchener, has been charged with:

–       Race motor vehicle – Excessive Speed

A seven day driving suspension and 14-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges. 

The public is asked to report suspicious activity immediately. 5 Facing Charges After Teens Assaulted

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Two youths and three adults are facing assault and mischief charges following a recent investigation conducted by members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit.

On September 12, 2021, two teenaged victims attended a gathering on Maitland Block Road and were assaulted.

A vehicle parked nearby sustained extensive damage due to an act of vandalism.

As a result, Huron OPP have arrested and charged the following persons:

·        Seth RILEY, 21-years-old from Huron East is facing charges of Assault & Mischief Over $5,000.

·        Jesse RILEY, 19-years old from Huron East is facing charges of Assault, Mischief Over $5,000 and Fail to Comply with Undertaking

·        Jeylin RILEY, 18-years-old from Central Huron is facing a charge of Mischief Over $5,000.

·        A 17-year-old youth from Huron East is facing charges of Assault, Mischief Over $5,000 and Fail to Comply with an Undertaking

·        A 16-year-old youth from Central Huron has been charged with Mischief Over $5,000.

The identities of the youths charged cannot be revealed due to the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

All accused have now been released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich at a later date.

Investigators believe there may be other victims from this incident and similar incidents and are encouraging anyone with information to contact Huron OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Drunk Driver Arrested In Paisley

(PAISLEY, ON) – On September 19, 2021 at 3:52 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a 2 vehicle collision along Queen Street north in the village of Paisley. Officers arrived to find that one of the drivers had been drinking alcohol.

Nicky GIBSON, 38-years-old, of Hamilton was charged with Impaired Driving and Operate over 80 milligrams. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on November 3, 2021 to answer to the charges.

There were no injuries reported at the scene.

This charge includes an immediate 90-day driver’s license suspension and an immediate 7-day vehicle impoundment.

BOLO Stolen Pick-up Truck – Plate: AT80758

(GREENOCK TWP, ON) – On September 21, 2021 at 4:38 a.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a theft report from a residence along Concession 6 in Greenock Township. Sometime between 3:00 a.m. on September 21, 2021 and 4:30 a.m. on September 21, 2021, a Black Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck with license # AT80758 was taken. The value of the stolen vehicle is estimated to be $25,000.

24 Year Old Facing Impaired Charge

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested and charged a Stratford resident with Impaired Operation.

On Saturday, September 18, 2021 at approximately 4:30 p.m. Huron OPP officers received two separate calls about a compact car that was travelling westbound from Clinton on Highway 8 in an erratic manner. 

OPP officers immediately began patrolling for the suspect vehicle and shortly thereafter police located the suspect vehicle parked at a residence located on Iron Springs Road. The investigating officer then located and spoke with the driver.  Upon doing so the officer noted several signs of impairment. As such the driver was placed under arrest for Impaired Operation.

The driver was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment and two breath samples were provided to the Intoxilizer Technician. Both tests were found to be over the legal limit.

Brandon TAYLOR, 24 years of age from Stratford has been charged with Operation While Impaired, Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus and Fail to Comply with Undertaking.

The accused was later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 4, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

An automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension has been served on the driver and his vehicle was impounded.

Meth Bust – LUNZ, KEESO, KRUGER & SHERRING

(PERTH COUNTY, ON) – On September 14 2021, just after 2:00 p.m., the Huron-Perth Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) and the Wellington County CSCU conducted a traffic stop on Snyder’s Road East, Petersburg in Waterloo Region, after a drug trafficking investigation. The four occupants of the vehicle were found in possession of Methamphetamine and cannabis resin, as well as drug trafficking paraphernalia and cash. The total estimated value of the drugs is approximately $9,000.

As a result, Dustin LUNZ, 28, of Listowel, has been charged with:

–      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

–      Operate Vehicle While Prohibited

–      Fail to Comply with Probation

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Also, Gordon KEESO, 54, of Palmerston, has been charged with:

–      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

Krystle KRUGER, 36, of Wroxeter, has been charged with:

–      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

Jaqueline SHERRING, 25, of Kitchener, has been charged with:

–      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

The accused parties were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

BOLO For Stolen Grizzly

(BLUEWATER, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating an overnight theft of an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) that was stolen from a Bluewater property earlier this week.

Investigators have since learned the white 2017 Yamaha Grizzly was taken from a shed located on a Mill Road. Sometime between midnight on September 13th and 8:00 a.m. on September 14th the thief accessed the shed and stole the ATV.

The shed had been left unlocked and the keys to the machine were left nearby.

Fatal Collision Update – Deceased Identified

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continues to investigate a fatal motor vehicle crash that took place early this morning west of Exeter.

At approximately 4:13 a.m. Huron County OPP, Huron County Paramedic Services and the South Huron Fire Department responded to the collision scene located on Ausable Line between Dashwood Road (Huron County Road #83) and Huron Street West.

The preliminary investigation has determined the driver of a sedan was travelling northbound on Ausable Line when he lost control on the gravel roadway and the vehicle collided with a large tree in the east ditch.

The driver and lone occupant was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

The deceased has since been identified as Keiran STEWART, 16 years of age, from Centralia.

Members from the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management & Enforcement (TIME) Team attended the scene to assist with the collision investigation.

Ausable Line is now open for travel.

Fatal Collision Near Exeter

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently on scene of a fatal motor vehicle collision that has taken place early this morning west of Exeter.

At approximately 4:13 a.m. Huron County OPP, Huron County Paramedic Services and South Huron Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle collision located on Ausable Line between Dashwood Road (Huron County Road #83) and Huron Street West.

Upon arrival first responders located a sedan that had left the gravel roadway and collided with a tree. One occupant has been found deceased within the vehicle.   

Members from the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management & Enforcement (TIME) Team will be attending the scene to assist with the collision investigation.

Ausable Line is currently closed between Dashwood Road and Huron Street West. Please use an alternate route to avoid delays.

Further information will be provided as the investigation progresses.

Ashley HUDSON Arrested Again – Meth A Factor

(GODERICH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a resident of Huron County with a number of offences following an incident that took place late last night in Goderich.

On September 13, 2021 at 10:19 p.m. Huron OPP members responded to a business located on Courthouse Square in Goderich to assist with an individual that was reportedly damaging a washroom on the premises.

Upon arrival police located the accused on scene along with a heavily damaged washroom. The accused was arrested and taken into custody without incident. Upon arrest police searched the accused and located a quantity of suspected methamphetamine. Police also learned the accused was failing to comply with conditions of a probation sentence.

Ashley HUDSON, 30 years of age from Huron County has been charged with Mischief Over $5,000, Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine and three counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order.

The accused remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for September 14, 2021  at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

BOLO Stolen Trailer

(NORTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers are currently investigating the recent theft of an enclosed trailer that was taken from abandoned farm property located on Belgrave Road.  

Sometime this past weekend those responsible for the theft attended the property and stole a silver, 2015 Neo enclosed, dual axle trailer. Also inside the trailer at the time of the theft were some empty bee boxes and a smaller Briggs & Stratton generator. 

The total value of the stolen items is estimated to be approximately $7,000.

Tools Stolen From Pickup Truck

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is seeking tips from the public to help catch the person responsible for stealing a collection of tools from a pickup truck in Clinton.

On Friday, September 3, 2021 Huron OPP received a report of an overnight theft that had occurred on Wellington Street in Clinton. The subsequent investigation revealed a work truck was entered through the unlocked tailgate and approximately $1,500 worth of power tools were stolen.

Some of the stolen tools are listed below:

·        3 – Impact drivers

·        2- Skill saws

·        A SDS hammer drill

·        A jigsaw

·        A Sawzall

·        6 battery chargers and 10 batteries

Investigators believe the suspect is a male about 6′ tall that was wearing a hoodie and shorts.

Racer Caught On Huron Road

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A driver from London is facing a Racing charge and some stiffer penalties following a traffic stop conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) this past weekend.

On September 12, 2021 at approximately 9:16 a.m. a Huron OPP officer was conducting RADAR patrols on Huron Road near Whys Line when the officer observed a compact vehicle travelling eastbound at a very high rate of speed.  

A RADAR device was utilized and the speed of the racing car was measured in excess of 140 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone.

A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was subsequently charged. Alexandra HEWITT, 27 years of age, from London has been charged with Racing. The defendant will now have to attend Provincial Offences Act Court in Goderich on October 5, 2021 to answer to the charge.

The involved vehicle has been impounded for 14 days and an immediate 30-day driver’s licence suspension has been served on the driver. 

All drivers should be aware on September 12th, 2021 roadside driver’s license suspensions under section 172 of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) increased from seven (7) to thirty (30) days for all offences listed in Regulation 455/07.

Assault Near Listowel

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – One person was charged after a person was stabbed in the Municipality of North Perth last week.

On September 06 2021, just after 10:30 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Perth County Paramedic Services responded to an address on Perth Road 164, just north of Listowel after receiving a report of an injured person.

One person was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

One person was arrested at the scene, and during the arrest, a police officer was assaulted. The officer was not injured as a result of the assault.

Christine WYNEN-BROWN, 23, of Guelph, has been charged with:

–       Assault with a Weapon

–       Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest

The accused was held custody pending a bail hearing.

Repeat Offender Arrested In Goderich – Officer Assaulted

(GODERICH, ON) – An incident that took place in Goderich over the weekend has now led to criminal charges against a London resident.

On Saturday, September 11, 2021 at approximately 9:16 a.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a Victoria Street business after receiving reports about an individual that was causing a disturbance. 

Upon arrival the accused approached the investigating officer in an assaultive manner. The accused failed to comply with the officer’s demands and had to be placed under arrest. 

Stephen POWERS, 33 years of age from London has been charged with Assault a Peace Officer, Causing a Disturbance and Fail to Comply with Recognizance. The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 4, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
