Seaforth Meth Bust – One Arrested

(HURON EAST, ON) – A resident of Seaforth is facing a Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking charge following an arrest made by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) earlier this week.

Shortly after 1:00 p.m. on October 28, 2021 members of the Huron OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) observed the accused, a wanted person, walking on Jarvis Street in Seaforth. Officers were able to arrest the accused for his outstanding warrant and as a result of a search incident to arrest the accused was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine. The estimated street value of the seized methamphetamine is $2400. 

Huron County OPP has charged Christopher DALTON, 44 years of age from Seaforth with Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking. 

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for December 13, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Clinton Collision Results In Arrest Of 21 Year Old

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A Central Huron resident is facing Impaired Operation charges following an automobile crash that took place last night in Clinton. 

At approximately 8:30 p.m. on October 28, 2021 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the intersection of Victoria Street and East Street in Clinton to investigate a two-vehicle crash. Officers arrived on scene to find a T-bone collision between a pickup truck and a compact vehicle.  

Upon speaking with the driver of the compact vehicle the investigating officer noted the driver was displaying signs of impairment. As such the driver was placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. Two breath tests were taken and both were found to be over the legal limit. 

Cory DURRER, 21 years of age from Central Huron has been charged with Impaired Operation and Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus).

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for November 29, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Hit & Run – Suspect @ Large

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A fail to remain motor vehicle collision that knocked down power lines this morning west of Clinton remains under investigation by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

Just after 4:00 a.m. Huron OPP officers responded to Huron Road (Highway 8) near Stone School Road to investigate a single vehicle crash. Upon arrival officers located a small sports car that had crashed into the north ditch and caused damage to some of the hydro wires. The damage to the hydro wires also caused localized power outages.

A search of the area was conducted however no one was found with the vehicle. 

Police are trying to determine who was operating the motor vehicle at the time of the collision.

Repeat Offender Arrested In Wingham Facing 20 Charges

(NORTH HURON, ON) – A Huron County man is facing twenty charges following an investigation conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) & the Huron-Perth OPP Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU).

Investigators determined that during the early morning hours of October 25th and October 26th, 2021 the accused trespassed onto residential properties in the Town of Wingham and stole various items from unattended vehicles.     

The accused also stole a sport utility vehicle from a Boland Street property and later when police spotted the stolen vehicle the driver took off and failed to stop.      

Police eventually located the stolen vehicle parked on Shuter Street and the accused was found inside. Upon arresting the accused police noted the driver was displaying several signs of impairment, thus he was transported to the Huron OPP detachment for a drug recognition evaluation. The evaluation was conducted by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) and the accused was deemed to be impaired by a drug. 

A search incident to arrest also revealed the accused to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine, stolen identification, stolen debit cards and unmarked cigarettes. Further, some checks on the accused also revealed his driver’s licence was under suspension and he was also prohibited from driving.

Matthew BOUVIER, 30 years of age from Seaforth is facing the following charges:

·        Trespass at Night – 2 counts

·        Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – 4 counts

·        Possession of an Identity Document

·        Theft of Motor Vehicle

·        Failure to Stop after Accident

·        Flight from Police Officer

·        Dangerous Operation

·        Operation While Impaired

·        Operation While Prohibited – 2 counts

·        Fail to Comply with Probation Order

·        Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine

·        Driving While Under Suspension – 3 counts

·        Possess Unmarked Cigarettes

The accused remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 28, 2021 the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Repeat Offender Arrested Again – Heroes Follow Thief Until Police Arrive

(GODERICH, ON) – A resident of Goderich is facing a number of charges including resisting an officer following an incident that took place in Goderich earlier this week.

On October 26, 2021 at approximately 12:30 a.m. officers received a report from a victim that reported their BMX bicycle was just stolen out of the back of a pickup truck that was parked on Bennett Street East. The victim and a witness were able to follow the accused and police were called to assist.   

Upon arrival officers attempted to place the accused under arrest however he failed to comply with the officers demands and resisted arrest. Police were able to gain control of the accused and he was ultimately taken into custody. 

Aaron WEDGE, 31 years of age from Goderich is charged with Theft Under $5,000, Resist Peace Officer and Fail to Comply with Probation Order – 5 counts. The accused remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 29, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

31 Year Old From Stratford Arrested

(PERTH EAST, ON) – On October 20, 2021, just after 1:30 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was alerted to a single vehicle motor vehicle collision on Line 34 in the Township of Perth East. After a brief foot pursuit, the driver of the motor vehicle was arrested and transported to local detachment where further tests were completed.

As a result, Nathan DINGMAN, a 31-year-old resident of Stratford, has been charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

The accused in this matter was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge.

Jeremy WELSH Arrested

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – On October 12, 2021 just after 6:00 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a theft of a bicycle from outside of a local business on Wallace Ave North, in the Municipality of North Perth.

Police attended the business, observed the surveillance footage, identified the accused and a warrant was subsequently sought.

Jeremy WELSH, a 23-year-old resident of North Perth, was arrested on October 19, 2021 and charged with:

·       Theft under $5000

·       Failure to Comply with Undertaking

The bicycle was recovered.

Violent Robbery In Listowel – 28 Year Old Arrested

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – One person is facing a robbery charge in the Municipality of North Perth following an incident.

Just before 12:00 a.m. on October 15, 2021, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an assault in the area of Maitland Avenue South in Listowel. An investigation was initiated and it was determined that a robbery was committed. The victim in this incident was transported by Perth County Paramedic Services to local hospital with minor injuries.

Marty GORDON, a 28-year-old resident of Listowel was arrested and charged with:

–      Robbery with Violence

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Investigators do not believe there to be a risk to public safety however police are reminding all members of the public to be aware of their personal safety at all times and to be extremely vigilant and aware of personal surroundings. 49 Year Old From Exeter Arrested

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – An Exeter resident is facing a lengthy list of charges following a traffic stop conducted by a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer this past weekend.

At approximately 8:37 p.m. on Saturday, October 23, 2021 a Huron OPP officer was patrolling on Edward Street in Exeter when he observed a sport utility vehicle being operated with unattached licence plates. A traffic stop was conducted and some checks revealed the driver was currently prohibited from driving, was operating with unauthorized licence plates and driving without insurance.

Shane CLARKE, 49 years of age from Exeter has been charged with the following offences:

·        Operation While Prohibited – 6 counts

·        Drive While Under Suspension

·        Use Plate Not Authorized for Vehicle

·        Operate a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance

·        Fail to Notify Change of Address

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for December 20, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

27 Year Old From Goderich Arrested – Name Released

(GODERICH, ON) – A Goderich resident is facing Impaired Operation charges following a traffic stop conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) this past weekend. 

At approximately 9:35 p.m. on October 23, 2021 a Huron County OPP officer was patrolling on Kingston Street when he observed the accused fail to stop for a red light. A traffic stop was initiated and while speaking with the driver the officer noted the driver to be displaying signs of impairment by alcohol. 

The driver was ultimately placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. Two breath tests were taken and both were found to be over the legal limit. It was also learned the driver was bound by a Criminal Code driving prohibition.   

Sean WALDEN, 27 years of age from Goderich has been charged with Impaired Operation, Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus) and Operation While Prohibited.   

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for November 29, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

22 Year Old From Bluevale Caught Going 60 Over Speed Limit

(MORRIS-TURNBERRY, ON) – A driver from the Belgrave area has had his driver’s licence suspended for 30 days and his vehicle has been impounded for two weeks following a traffic stop that took place earlier this week.

On Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at approximately 10:16 p.m. a Huron County OPP officer was patrolling on Harriston Road when the officer observed an automobile travelling at a high rate of speed. A RADAR device was utilized to measure the speed of the vehicle and the vehicles speed was recorded at a speed in excess of 60 kilometers over the 90 km/h speed limit. 

A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was subsequently charged. Andrew WIEGERSMA, 22 years of age from Bluevale has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle – Excessive Speed. The defendant will have to attend Provincial Offences Act Court later this fall to answer to the charge.

Jamie PYNN – Criminal Harassment

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – One person is facing charges following an on-going incident.

On October 12, 2021, just before 5:00 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of harassment that occurred over a period of time in the Municipality of North Perth. During the investigation, it was learned that a harassment offence had been committed.

As a result, Jamie PYNN, a 46-year-old resident of North Perth was arrested and charged with:

Jeffrey YOUNG – Sexual Assault X3

(LAKESHORE, ON) – A recent criminal investigation conducted by members of the Essex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Major Crime Unit has resulted in sexual assault charges being laid against a Municipality of Lakeshore resident.

As a result, Jeffrey YOUNG 59-year-old from Lakeshore, ON has been charged with Sexual Assault (3 counts) and Mischief under $5000.

The ongoing investigation has determined the accused practiced at local massage businesses.

The accused will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Windsor on November 26, 2021.

29 Year Old Arrested For Drunk Driving

(PERTH EAST, ON) – A Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) program resulted in a driver being charged with impaired driving in the Township of Perth East. On October 2, 2021, just before 2:00 a.m., a motor vehicle entered a R.I.D.E program conducted by Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) on Mill Street East, in Milverton. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was utilized and the motor vehicle driver was subsequently arrested and transported to a local OPP detachment where further tests were administered.

As a result, Adam ROPP, 29, of Perth East, has been charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute to the accused. The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge.

Newborn Murdered – 62 Year Old From St. Marys Arrested

(PERTH COUNTY, ON) – One person has been charged following a death investigation in Perth County.

On October 20, 2021, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), and with the assistance of the Stratford Police Service, commenced an investigation into a death that occurred in Perth County in 1985. The victim has been identified as Meghan THOMPSON, who was 25 days old at the time of her death.

Katherine THOMPSON, 62-years-old of St Marys, has been charged under section 214(5)(e) of the 1985 Criminal Code with First Degree Murder.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

As this is an ongoing investigation, no further details will be released at this time. A publication ban is in effect for the proceedings.
