Mother & Child Escape Fire

(ALLISTON, ON) – On December 16, shortly before 1:30 p.m., members of the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police, New Tecumseth Fire Department and Simcoe County Paramedics responded to a structure fire.

OPP Nottawasaga Detachment and New Tecumseth Fire Department responded to a report of large house fire at a residence on Previn Court in the Town of New Tecumseth. Upon arrival the home was visibly engulfed in smoke. A mother and a small child were able to safely evacuate the home prior to officers’ arrival with no injuries due to working fire alarms in the home.

The fire did not spread to the near by residences and was put out several hours later. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time but appeared to have come from the children’s game room in the basement, it is not considered to be suspicious.

The roadway near the residence was temporarily closed until the fire was put out, and re-opened at 6:00 p.m. The family will be staying with relatives for the holidays.

Drug Bust – 3 Arrested, Names Released

(ALLISTON, ON) – As a result of an ongoing police investigation, members of the Nottawasaga Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), Emergency Response Team (ERT) with assistance from the Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) from Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police executed a search warrant on Knight Street, in the Town of New Tecumseth.

In the fall of 2024 Nottawasaga CSCU began an investigation regarding a male trafficking drug in downtown Alliston. Officers observed activity consistent with drug trafficking and obtained a CDSA Search warrant.

On December 10th, 2024, Officers observed Accused 2 conduct a drug transaction in the Town of Tottenham and with the assistance of ERT officers arrested the male while he was parked on the side of the road in Tottenham.

Nottawasaga CSCU officers then attended the residence and executed a CDSA search warrant shortly before 1:00 p.m. 

A search of the residence along with 3 vehicles was completed where police seized the following items:

Approximately 2 ounces of cocaine, 4 imitation handguns, 1 imitation rifle,1 prohibited knife, 12 knives, 5 sword/Axe/Cleavers, 2 cell phones, scales, brass knuckles, body armour carrier, 2 stolen sets of headphones, and a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck with a value of $30,000 seized as offence related property. 

Investigators have arrested and charged the following individuals contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada and the Controlled Drug and Substances Act. 

Eric HOGG 36-years-old of Adjala-Tosorontio

• Trafficking in Schedule I substance- Cocaine

• Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

• Possession of imitation weapon for Dangerous Purpose (4 counts)

• Possession of a prohibited device

• Breach of Recognizance

Trevor WILSON 38-years-old of Alliston

• Trafficking in Schedule I substance- Cocaine

• Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

• Carrying concealed weapon

• Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

• Possession of imitation weapon for Dangerous Purpose (4 counts)

• Possession of a prohibited device

• Breach of Recognizance

• Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada (2 counts)

Kelsey KIRK 35-years-old of Alliston

• Trafficking in Schedule I substance- Cocaine

• Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

• Possession of imitation weapon for Dangerous Purpose (4 counts)

• Possession of a prohibited device 

• Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada (2 counts)

Accused 1 and 2 were held for a bail hearing appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on December 12th, 2024. Accused 3 was released on an Undertaking and are to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on January 9th, 2025

OPP Cruiser Involved In Collision

(ALLISTON, ON) – The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a two-vehicle collision in the Town of New Tecumseth.

On December 7, at approximately 9:40 a.m., members of the Nottawasaga OPP, New Tecumseth Fire Department and Simcoe County Paramedics responded to a collision involving a passenger vehicle and an OPP Cruiser at the intersection of Highway 89 and County Rd 10.

The initial investigation revealed that an OPP Cruiser was travelling West Bound on Highway 89 approaching the intersection on route to a call for service with its lights and sirens activated. A passenger vehicle was travelling South Bound on County Rd 10 approaching the intersection at Highway 89 when the vehicles collided within the intersection. 

The OPP officer and drive of the passenger vehicle were both transported to hospital by EMS precautionary. In conclusion, both drivers sustained no injuries.

The road was closed at the intersection of Highway 89 and County Rd 10 for several hours while the OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team processed the scene, and was re-opened at 2:00 p.m.

The investigation is ongoing. Police are asking anyone with information or dashcam footage in the area between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. to contact the Nottawasaga OPP at 1-888-310-1122 Ref (E241615676).

Jamie MULHOLLAND Was Arrested Again

(ALLISTON, ON.) – The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an individual following a family dispute.

On December 2, 2024, at approximately 12:02 p.m., police responded an address on Tupper Street East, in the Town of New Tecumseth, regarding a report of a dispute between family members.

An investigation revealed that this family member was on conditions not to be at the residence. Upon arrival the individual had fled Eastbound on Tupper St East in a vehicle with no licence plates.

Officers stopped the vehicle shortly after where it was determined that the driver was operating the vehicle while prohibited and arrested on an outstanding warrant. The male was held for a bail hearing and is to appear in Bradford court December 3, 2024.

Jamie MULHOLLAND 35 years-old from Alliston is charged with the following::

  • Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code – 2 counts
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Drive motor vehicle, no plates
  • Drive motor vehicle, no permit
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

4 Arrested In Drug Bust

(ALLISTON, ON.) – On November 29th, at approximately 2:22 p.m., members of the of Nottawasaga Detachment Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) charged 4 individuals in relation to several drug related offences after a traffic stop, in the Town of New Tecumseth.

Officers from CRU conducted a traffic stop on a passenger vehicle with an obstructed rear plate, South Bound on 8th Ave. The driver was identified and known to police as a suspended driver. The driver was arrested for this offence and searched incident to arrest.

While officers on scene continued their investigation, they were engaged with 3 other occupants in the vehicle. While identifying each occupant, the officers observed a zip lock baggie containing a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine. The vehicle was seized as proceeds of crime and upon completion of the investigation, officers seized the suspected cocaine, $1,605 in cash, and 2 cellphones as evidence to the offence of trafficking.

All parties were arrested and charged with the following:

Darryl Berdan 40-years-old of Alliston:

  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order -3 counts
  • Unauthorized Possession of Weapon
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Obstruct plate
  • Driving while under suspension

The male party was held for a bail hearing and is to re-appear in court December 2nd .

Joline Stewart 41-years-old of Adjala-Tosorontio:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine
  • Trafficking in Schedule I substance- Cocaine

Released on Form 10 with a future court date of January 2nd, 2024

Jeffery Hollingshead 47-years-old of Alliston:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine
  • Trafficking in Schedule I substance- Cocaine

Released on Form 10 with a future court date of January 2nd, 2024

Daniel Norrie 44-years-old of Alliston:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine
  • Trafficking in Schedule I substance- Cocaine

Released on Form 10 with a future court date of January 2nd, 2024

Rajveer SINGH in an 80

(ALLISTON, ON)- The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers have charged a driver for stunt driving this morning.

On November 21, 2024, shortly before 10:30 a.m. an Officer from the Nottawasaga Detachment was conducting speed enforcement on Highway 89 in the Town of New Tecumseth.

The subject vehicle was travelling at a high rate of speed recorded at 154km/h in an 80km/h zone. The vehicle was stopped, as a result of the investigation officers charged the driver for stunt driving. Rajveer SINGH 20-years-old from Barrie was charged with the following:

–       Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt- excessive speed.

–       Speeding 50+km/h over limit

The driver received a 30-day licence suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days. The accused is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Drivers and members of the public are reminded to respect our communities, comply with all laws, and not jeopardize the safety of our citizens or our neighborhoods with risky, illegal, and dangerous actions.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(ALLISTON, ON) – The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged 2 males for several drug related offences in the Town of New Tecumseth.

On November 14, at approximately 10:00 p.m. members of the Nottawasaga OPP, conducted a traffic stop on a passenger vehicle with an obstructed rear plate on Young Street.

The investigation revealed that two individuals, Darryl BERDAN 40 years old from Alliston, and Jason HOFFARTH, 41 years old from Alliston were in possession of a schedule 1 substance.

As a result of this investigation, both residents from Alliston are facing the following charges contrary to the Criminal Code and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Darryl BERDAN 40-years-old:

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

·      Fail to Comply with Probation Order – 3 counts

·      Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 – in Canada

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

Jason HOFFARTH, 41-years-old:

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine

Both accused parties were held for a bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford on November 14, 2024, and released on a release order.

Navdeep CHAUDHARY Was Arrested For Theft

(ALLISTON, ON) – The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged an individual after a report of a shop lift at a local grocery store.

On November 11, 2024, at approximately 6:41 p.m., police responded to a report of a shoplifter at a local Alliston grocery store.

Officers located the individual exiting with the stolen property from the store, along with keys to a stolen vehicle in the parking lot. The accused was then arrested.

As a result, 22-year-old Navdeep CHAUDHARY, of Waterloo has been charged with:

·      Theft Under $5000 – shoplifting

·      Possession Property Obtained by Crime over $5000

Brendon BLANCHARD Was Arressted Again

(ALLISTON, ON) – The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged a male on several warrants in the Town of New Tecumseth.

On November 10, 2024, shortly after 5:00 a.m., Nottawasaga OPP located and arrested Brendon BLANCHARD, 24-year-old of Alliston, wanted on several warrants dating as far back as May 02, 2023, and has been charged with the following:

• Mischief – destroys or damages property

• Theft Under $5000- Shoplifting – 2 counts

• Failure to comply with release order

The accused has been held in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Bradford on November 15, 2024, to answer to the charges.

Brant MACDONALD – Impaired Driving

(ALLISTON, ON) – The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver for driving while impaired in the Town of New Tecumseth.

On November 12, 2024, just before 08:30 a.m., Nottawasaga OPP responded to a report of driver asleep behind the wheel of his motor vehicle. This incident occurred on Young Street in the Town of New Tecumseth. No injuries were reported. 

As a result of the investigation, Brant MACDONALD, 43, of Adjala-Tosorontio, was charged with:  

• Adult Operation while Impaired- alcohol and drugs

In addition to the charges, the driver was issued a 90-day license suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. 

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Bradford on December 26, 2024, to answer to the charges.
