Youth Fails to Comply with Curfew

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a youth for failing to comply with his curfew.

On May 22, 2014 the youth was released from custody with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that he was to abide by a daily curfew of 10:00 pm to 6:00 a.m.

On May 24, 2014 around 11:30 p.m. police received information that the youth was breaching his curfew. An officer checked the youth’s residence and he could not be located.

Around 10:15 p.m. last night, an officer located the youth on Raleigh Street and he was arrested. The 16-year-old Chatham youth has been charged with failing to comply. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Motor Vehicle Collision in Wallaceburg

Yesterday morning around 8:00 a.m. police responded to a two vehicle collision on Johnson Street.

Neither driver was injured. Total damage was estimated at $4000.

A 51-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with failing to yield.

Motor Vehicle Collision in Raleigh Township

Around 9:00 a.m. yesterday morning, police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Riverview Line.

A man lost control of his vehicle and struck a hydro pole. He was not injured. Damage was estimated at $8000.

The 36-year-old Chatham man was charged with careless driving.

Break and Enter in Harwich Township

The Chatham-Kent police are looking for information regarding a break and enter.

Sometime between Thursday, May 22 and Monday, May 26 unknown suspect(s) entered a home under construction on William Street. Once inside the suspect(s) stole copper wire and supplies with an estimated total value of $2750.

Missing Person Located

At approximately 6:19am, the previously reported missing female Leonarda BAPTISTA was located in the John St. Street area. Child Explotation-Luring

Date: Monday, May 26, 2014 – 4:30pm
A 42 year old male from Orillia was on-line and made arrangements to meet a person he believed to be 15 years of age. The male eagerly awaiting at the location of his choice was met by members of Child Sexual Exploitation Unit of the Ontario Provincial Police and members of the Barrie Police ICE (Internet Child Exploitation). The male was taken into custody and held for a bail hearing scheduled for 27th May 2014.

Break and Enter/Mischief and Theft

Date: Sunday, May 25, 2014 – 7:00pm
Barrie Police officers responded to a report of a break and enter that just occurred at an address on Coderington. The officers arrived on scene and were advised by the victim that her house was broken into by her ex-girlfriend. The victim stated that she was shower when her ex-girlfriend, a 25 yr old female from Barrie smashed the front window, climbed in and stole the victim’s dog. The suspect also damaged a coffee table when entering the residence.

Officers located the suspect at a residence on Irene. The female was arrested for break and enter, mischief X 2 (one being from a previous incident) and theft. The accused was held for a bail hearing.

Domestic Assault

Barrie Police officers responded to an address on Kozlov St in regards to a domestic disturbance. The officers arrived on scene and spoke to the victim who stated that her boyfriend was upset that he could contact his drug dealer. The male grabbed a remote and threw it at the female striking her in the leg. When she attempted to leave the apartment the male grabbed her by the throat and proceeded to choke her causing her to fall to the floor.

The 19 yr old male was located a short distance from the residence and arrested for assault and assault with a weapon. The accused was transported to the station and held for a bail hearing.

Drugs and Breach of Probation

Barrie Police officers were requested to attend a residence on Doris in regards to removing a male. The complainant was the mother of the male and stated that her son was out of control and needed to removed. When officer attempted to remove the male he became very belligerent and aggressive towards the officers. The officer noticed a small bag of drugs on the floor beside where the male was sitting. The 19 yr old male was arrested for being in possession of a controlled substance. Upon searching the male he was also in possession of pills. The male was also on probation not to possess narcotics. The male was transported to the station and held for a bail hearing.

Missing Person

Officers responded to an address on Cundles Rd W in regards to a missing elderly female. The officer arrived on scene and spoke to the daughter of the missing female. She advised that her 78 yr old mother has mild dementia and diabetes and went missing from there residence around 7 pm.

Investigating a pharmacy robbery

(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit is investigating a recent pharmacy robbery and is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect responsible.

On Monday, May 19, 2014, a lone male suspect entered a pharmacy situated along the 1000 block of Bank Street near Sunnyside. The suspect approached the pharmacy and produced a note making a demand for prescription drugs. Though the suspect suggested he was armed, no weapon was seen. The suspect fled the premises with an undisclosed quantity of drugs. The suspect was observed to have arrived at the pharmacy on a bicycle from Sunnyside Avenue, west of Bank Street. He fled westbound on Sunnyside after the robbery, again on a bicycle.

The suspect is described as being a Caucasian male, white, late 40’s or early 50’s, clean shaven, approximately 6′ tall (183 cm), wearing sunglasses, a black hooded sweatshirt, a black baseball cap, a black t-shirt with AC-DC band logo on the front, black gloves, blue jeans, and white sneakers. The suspect was riding a black hybrid or mountain style bicycle (images attached).

TWO SENT TO HOSPITAL AFTER COLLISION WITH A MOOSE ON HIGHWAY 11

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON)- On May 26, 2014 at approximately 10:00 p.m. officers from the Bracebridge Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Muskoka Medavie Service (EMS) and Bracebridge Fire Department (BFD) responded to a single vehicle rollover on Highway 11.

From the initial investigation conducted at the scene, it would appear that a northbound Ford Focus was travelling on the inside lane north of High Falls road when a moose stepped out into the live lane. The driver of the Ford struck the moose head-on causing the vehicle to roll over coming to rest in the median.

The highway was closed for a short time while emergency crews responded to the collision.

The male driver and female passenger were transported to South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (SMMH) for medical treatment.

A short time earlier Huntsville OPP also responded to a similar call on Muskoka Road 117 involving a Moose and single motor vehicle.

Police are reminding motorists to keep watch for animals crossing our roadways. Be safe, arrive alive.

SEARCH FOR POSSIBLE MISSING PERSON

Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police are currently engaged in a search for a possible missing person in the area of the west break wall (pier) in Port Stanley, ON.

At approximately 6:23pm on May 26, 2014 a witness on the main pier in Port Stanley observed a person bypass the security gate on the west break wall (pier) and walk out onto the pier. The witness could not determine whether the person was male or female but described the subject as being about 5”6” about 110lbs wearing a white t-shirt and jean shorts. The witness became alarmed when he could no longer see the subject; however the witness did not see the subject enter the water. The witness attended the area of the west pier and did not see anyone. He then contacted police.

Elgin OPP and members of the OPP Emergency Response Team along with Central Elgin Fire, Auxiliary Coast Guard Boat and a helicopter dispatched by the Rescue Co-ordination Centre in Trenton, ON conducted an extensive search until approximately 11pm with negative results.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident and will continue to search the area during daylight hours.

Police are looking to speak to anyone who may have been in the area around 6:20pm and observed someone out on the west pier, returning off of the pier, or exiting the water in that area. Witnesses can call the Elgin OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or 519-631-2920.

TRESPASSING CHARGE LAID AGAINST GREY HIGHLANDS MAN

(TOWNSHIP OF SOUTHGATE, ON) – On Sunday, May 25, 2014 at approximately 1:19 a.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of an unwanted person at the Royal Canadian Legion located on Proton St., S. in Dundalk.

Information was received that a male involved in an altercation with another male was refusing to leave.

Police arrived and instructed the man to leave. Despite being warned by police, it was found that the male had circled the block and returned to the Legion.

Francis Joseph DAURIO, 35, of Grey Highlands, was charged with Fail to Leave When Directed under the Trespass to Property Act.

Lambton OPP Search Ends-Body Recovered

(POINT EDWARD, ON) Lambton Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has ended the search for a male who was reported as jumping from the Blue Water Bridge on May 22, 2014.

On May 26, 2014 around 11:30 a.m. Lambton OPP recovered the body of the male, in the St. Clair River, just south of the Blue Water Bridge.

A post mortem is planned for May 27, 2014.

There is no further information.
