MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION ON HIGHWAY 10

(CALEDON, ON) – On June 5, 2014 at approximately 1:15 pm, officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Caledon Emergency Services personnel responded to a head-on collision on Highway 10 north of Beech Grove Side Road. The investigation had revealed that a gray Mazda was travelling northbound and a white GMC pick-up was travelling southbound. For some unknown reason, one of the two vehicles crossed over the centre line. As a result of the impact, the Mazda became engulfed in flames. Both drivers of the vehicles were pronounced dead at the scene of the collision.

The OPP confirm that the driver of the gray Mazda has been identified as William Taylor, 51, of Orangeville.

Thomas MCKENNA – Drunk Driving

(Oro-Medonte, ON) – On Friday June 6th, 2014 at 5:56 pm, an employee from a restaurant located in Shanty Bay contacted the Barrie Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) to report a possible impaired driver. The complainant reported that a male driver placed an order in the restaurant’s drive-thru lane and when the male drove up to the window and provided payment, they observed open liquor. Officers attended the restaurant and through their investigation determined the driver was impaired by alcohol.

33-year old Thomas MCKENNA of London was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired & Drive Motor Vehicle Over 80 milligrams of alcohol.

His licence was suspended for a period of 90 days under the Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS) program and his motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

The accused will be making his first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie on June 23, 2014.

Peter GRABER – Drunk Driving

Officers from the Barrie detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged a motorist with drinking and driving offences after receiving a traffic complaint Friday evening.

A member of the public reported a Chevy half ton pickup truck traveling northbound on highway 11 in Oro-Medonte Twp. The vehicle was reported to be weaving all over the road. Officers from the Barrie Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) located the vehicle at a drive thru in Orillia.

38-year old Peter GRABER of Barrie was charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Drive Motor Vehicle Over 80 milligrams of alcohol.

His licence was suspended for a period of 90 days under the Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS) program and his motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

The accused will be making his first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie on July 21st, 2014.

Brandon LITTLE – Drunk Driving

(Oro-Medonte, ON) – On June 7th, 2014 at 2:19 am police were called to Bass Lake Provincial Park to assist park wardens with a suspected drunk driver. Police attended and investigated the driver of a Ford pickup truck at the park. As a result of the investigation, Brandon LITTLE age 20 years of Tottenham has been charged for Driving While Ability Impaired and Care or Control Over 80 mgs.

His licence was suspended for a period of 90 days under the Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS) program and his motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

LITTLE is scheduled to appear at the Provincial Courts in Barrie on Monday June 23rd, 2014

OPP ATTEND CRASH OF LIGHT AIRCRAFT

(Otonabee South Monaghan Township, ON)-On Saturday June 7th at approximately 9:35 a.m. Peterborough County OPP officers were dispatched to a report o a plane crash at Peterborough Airport on Airport Road.

A small Vans 2010 Model RV9A aircraft crashed approximately 300 metres from the airstrip at Peterborough Airport. Area Fire Personnel and Emergency Medical Services responded with the Police to the scene.

It is reported that the aircraft had just taken off form the Airport and had experienced engine problems. It had only flown approximately one mile before the pilot turned the plan around and had been initiating a priority landing when the plane lost power and stalled short of the runway.

The pilot of the aircraft a 62year old male of Pickering, was th only occupant of the aircraft and was able to walk away from the crash, receiving only minor injuries. He was transported to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for observation and was released shortly afterwards.

Transport Canada have been notified of this incident, however will not be continuing an investigation into the incident.

(WALKERTON, ON) – On June 7, 2014 at 5:26 pm, a South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on patrol along Ontario Street in Walkerton saw a Black Chevrolet Cavalier fail to stop at the intersection with Eastridge Road. 27 year old Jesse ANDREE of Drayton Valley, BC was charged with Fail to stop for stop sign.

Liquor Tickets Served At RIDE

(HURON TOWNSHIP, ON) – On June 7, 2014 at 8:36 pm, members of the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting R.I.D.E. on Lake Range Road in Huron Township when a Silver Honda Civic stopped. Officers discovered open alcohol in the vehicle and 2 passengers were charged. 33 year old Blair SAVAGE of Huron Township and 19 year old Kerri WATTMAN of Kincardine were each charged with Open alcohol other than residence.

MALE CHARGED WITH BREAK AND ENTER

(QUINTE WEST, ON) – In the early morning hours of Saturday June 7th, 2014, Quinte West OPP were called to an address on Gould Street in Trenton for the report of break and enter. Police investigation revealed that a 41 year old male from Cobourg had been asked to leave the Trenton address earlier that night. The male was intoxicated and refused to leave. The female home owner physically removed the male from her residence, however; the male used his fist to break the glass in the door and regain entry into the residence.The male was arrested and charged with break and enter andwill appear for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on Monday June 9th, 2014.

COLLISION REVEALS DRIVER IMPAIRED

(Prince Edward County, ON)—On June 07, 2014 at 5:29pm officers with the Ontario Provincial Police Prince Edward County detachment were called to a single motor vehicle collision on County Road 22, South of Picton. The police investigation revealed that a single motor vehicle left the roadway and had struck a tree. The female driver appeared to have been consuming alcohol.

49-year old Jill CHATTERTON of Oshawa was arrested for Operating While Impaired, contrary to Section 253(1)(a) and Operation with over 80 mgs. of Alcohol, contrary to Section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused was not injured and was later released from police custody on a promise to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Picton on June 25, 2014.

DRIVER ATTEMPTED TO AVOID RIDE CHECK

(Prince Edward County, ON)—On June 07, 2014 at 2:21am officers with the Ontario Provincial Police Prince Edward County detachment were conducting a RIDE check in the Village of Consecon. A vehicle attempted to avoid the check point and was soon stopped on Mill St. The female driver appeared to have been consuming alcohol.

31-year old Earla STRUTHERS of Prince Edward County was arrested for Operating While Impaired, contrary to Section 253(1)(a) and Operation with over 80 mgs. of Alcohol, contrary to Section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused was later released from police custody on a promise to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Picton on June 25, 2014.

OFFENSIVE WEAPON

On Sunday June 8, 2014 at 6:35 pm, police responded to a disturbance in a parking lot of a Woodside Avenue, Cambridge apartment building. Upon arrival, police located and arrested a male in possession of several edged weapons. Police learned that the male had entered the apartment building and tried to break into a unit. When he was unsuccessful, he left the building and remained in the parking lot. The incident was not random. A 41 year old Cambridge male was charged with weapons dangerous, two counts of break and enter with intent, wear disguise with intent,utter threats to cause death, carry concealed weapon and cause disturbance and held for a show cause hearing.

A building at the cemetery was found vandalized inside and out. Damage is estimated at several thousand dollars.
