(QUINTE WEST, ON) – On June 17th, 2014 at approximately 9:30am Quinte West OPP responded to a Frankford address for the report of a domestic incident.

When police arrived on scene they spoke to a 37 year old Frankford male. The male party informed police that he was assaulted by his partner.

Police attended to speak to the female in the matter and during the investigation police learned that it was the female that had been assaulted by the original complainant.

As a result of the investigation the 37 year old Frankford male was arrested and charged for Assault. The male was released with a court date in June.

(Penetanguishene,On)- Members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police are asking the public for their assistance in solving a fail to remain collision involving a 14 year old boy on a bicycle who was struck by a black Smart car in the intersection of Main and Poyntz Streets in the Town of Penetanguishene at 4:45pm June 9, 2014.

(LAMBTON COUNTY, ON) On June 13, 2014 at around 7:45 p.m., Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were called to investigate a daytime break and enter that had occurred in the 5000 block of London Line. A number of items were reported stolen including jewellery, electronics and prescription drugs.

The investigation led police to a Portland Street, Petrolia address. On June 16, 2014 at around 3:00 p.m., the Lambton County OPP Street Crimes Unit assisted by the West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), executed a search warrant at that Portland Street address.

As a result of the warrant, 26 year old Andrea BRENNAN, who is from Petrolia, has been charged with break and enter to a dwelling, and theft under $5000.

Twenty-nine year old Marc CARON, who also resides in Petrolia, has been charged with break and enter to a dwelling, and theft under $5000.

They will appear in a Sarnia court at a later time to answer to the charges.

(WINDSOR, ON) The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Lasalle Fire Service, Lasalle Police Service and Essex County Emergency Medical Service (EMS) were called to an industrial incident at approximately 3:30 p.m. today on the Honourable Herb Gray Parkway between Todd Lane and Cousineau Road, Windsor, in the construction zone.

A 40 year old male was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Ministry of Labour is investigating cause of the incident.

The name of the deceased is not being released pending notification of next of kin

(ORILLIA, ON) – On June 17, 2014 at approximately 3:43 a.m., Orillia Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were notified of a theft of a motor vehicle from an address on Burnside Line in Severn Township.

Officers arrived on scene and located a vehicle that was stolen from the residence stuck in a ditch at the front of the property. Police were advised by the owner that he had observed 3 males running from his vehicle into the woods. The OPP Canine Unit and Emergency Response Team (ERT) was contacted and attended to assist with the search for the males.

An officer assisting with the search in the area located the three wet males as they came out of the woods. All three were arrested and transported to Orillia detachment.

John HIPWELL, 18 years old of Orillia, was charged with Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and Trespass by Night. He was held in custody and will next appear in court in Barrie on June 18, 2014.

Lee MACK, 24 years old of Orillia, was charged with Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and Trespass by Night. He was held in custody and will next appear in court in Barrie on June 20, 2014.

Stuart MACNEIL, 18 years old of Orillia, was charged with Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and Trespass by Night. He was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date in Orillia on July 29, 2014.

(KENORA, ON) On Sunday June 15, 2014 members of the Kenora Detachment of Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a break and enter had occurred at an additional residence in the Rabbit Lake Area. Police were advised that the homeowners believed they heard someone enter their residence around 5:30 am. When they looked around the residence they discovered a purse and electronics to be missing.

The investigation led to the arrest of a male youth later in the evening. The youth was found in possession of property missing from the break in. He has been charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 contrary to section 145(1)(a) of the Criminal Code. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on June 25, 2014.

(NEW TECUMSETH, ON) – On June 15,2014 at 4:55 am a concerned citizen reported an Impaired driver in 2007 Toyota Corolla parked on King Street in Alliston Nottawasaga OPP officers intercepted the vehicle at that location Upon speaking with the female driver, the officers detected a strong odour of alcohol on the his breath. Subsequently, the driver was arrested and transported to Detachment for further testing.

Once the investigation was concluded, Holly Anne Newman , 37, of New Tecumseth was charged with Care and Control while Impaired by alcohol contrary to Criminal Code of Canada.

The Administrative Drivers’ Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and her motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to make her first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie at a later date.

(NEW TECUMSETH, ON) – On June 15,2014 at 3:14 am a parked Nottawasaga OPP officer observed a white 2001 Ford convertible travelling at a high rate of speed on Mill Street in New Tecumseth. As a result, the officers activated their emergency equipment and intercepted the vehicle on McGoey Street , Alliston Upon speaking with the male driver, the officers detected a strong odour of alcohol on the his breath. Subsequently, the driver was arrested and transported to Detachment for further testing.

Once the investigation was concluded,Evan Switzer , 23, of New Tecumseth was charged with Impaired Driving and driving with over 80 mg of alcohol contrary to Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused is scheduled to make his first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie on July 27 2014.

(THUNDER BAY, ON) – On Saturday, June 14, 2014 at approximately 1:50 pm, officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were advised of a missing boater.

A 56 year old male from Thunder Bay went boating on the Kaministiquia River in the area of Forbes River Road and Silver Falls Road, during the evening hours and did not return to his camp.

OPP responded with Emergency Response Team (ERT) members and Marine Unit officers to begin searching the area on the Kaministiquia River.

The family of the missing male located the boat in the Kakabeka Falls area on Sunday evening.

Divers from the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) are currently searching the area of the Kaministiquia River.

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) has reduced the flow rate on the Kaministiquia River for a period of up to seven hours today to assist the OPP with their efforts in locating the missing boater.

The Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) has provided air support by providing a helicopter and pilot to assist OPP with their efforts by conducting an aerial search of the Kaministiquia River.

A second team of OPP divers from the USRU are enroute to Thunder Bay to assist with the search efforts.

The investigation is continuing.

(TOSORONTIO, ON) -On June 13th, 2014 at approximately 11:43pm A business owner contacted the Nottawasaga OPP to report a Break and Enter at the Silverbrooke Golf Course, located at 45 Cindy Lane in Tosorontio.

At 11:55pm, Police arrived on scene. Entry to the club house was gained from a broken window. OPP K-9 unit as well as uniform officers searched the area but were unable to locate the culprits.

Items taken include two full bottles of liquor. The scene was processed by Nottawasaga OPP Scenes of Crime Officers.

(CALEDON, ON) – On June 14, 2014 shortly before 3 pm, officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision on Porterfield Road, south of County Road 109. Witnesses reported that a cyclist was struck and the suspect vehicle had left the scene. Witnesses attempted to stop the suspect vehicle but were unsuccessful. With the assistance from the Orangeville Police Service, the driver was located and detained until OPP arrived at their location.

Investigation revealed that the cyclist was walking his bicycle northbound on Porterfield Road and the driver was operating his blue Chrysler Sebring in the same direction. For some unknown reason, the driver drifted across the fog line and struck the cyclist in the left elbow. The vehicle then drifted back in to the lane and continued northbound without stopping.

The victim suffered a minor injury as a result of the motor vehicle collision.

As a result of the investigation, Frank CARRICATO, 23, of Caledon was arrested and charged with Fail to Stop at Scene of Accident and is further charged with Careless Driving.

The accused was released and he is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on July 24, 2014.

(Ottawa, ON) -The Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police would like to remind motorists of a couple of traffic safety concerns.

Recently, the OPP has investigated several incidents where items were not properly secured and struck another vehicle on the highway. The OPP would like to remind motorists that it’s the driver’s responsibility to make sure all items attached to their vehicle, trailer or in the back of a pickup truck are properly secured. The offence of insecure load under The Highway Traffic Act has a fine of $160 and for commercial motor vehicles, $390.

Also recently, officers have investigated several single motor vehicle roll over collisions in good weather. The OPP would also like to remind motorists to keep their eyes on the road, distractions to a minimum and follow the posted speed limits.

(CALEDON, ON) – On June 13, 2014 at 2 pm, officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a silver Mercedes stopped in a westbound lane of traffic on Mayfield Road, east of Highway 410. The officers stopped to check on the occupants and learned that the driver and male passenger had taken the vehicle out for a test drive.

Police conducted a check and discovered that the driver was bound by an Undertaking Order with a no contact condition associated to his passenger.

As a result of the traffic stop, Jagroop Singh SIDHU, 39, of Brampton was arrested and charged with Breach of Undertaking.

The accused was held in custody and he appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton the following day.

(CALEDON, ON) – On June 10, 2014 at approximately 10:49 am, a male took a taxi from a Brampton address and requested to be dropped off in Caledon. The male exited the cab at an address on Lightheart Drive. The cab driver awaited outside the residence suspecting that the male would return with the fare payment. The male failed to do return and police were called.

Officers from the Caledon Detachment are seeking the assistance from the public to identify the male suspect, see attached photo.

(HUNTSVILLE, ON) On June 15, 2014 just before 9:00am Huntsville Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were made aware of a break and enter to a residence on Shellwood Shores Huntsville On.

Sometime between 12:30am and 7:30am unknown culprits cut the screen on the door for the attached garage gaining access into the back office in the garage. Once inside the culprits removed a laptop and cigarettes. Investigation found that they did not gain access to the house.
