$80,000 Drug Bust In North Perth – Names Released

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – Two people are facing charges after a large quantity of drugs were seized in the Municipality of North Perth.

On December 18 2020 members of the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program on Perth Line 72, in the Municipality of North Perth. Shortly after 10:00 p.m., a vehicle containing a large quantity of cannabis entered the program. Along with the cannabis, police also located shatter, gummies and drug trafficking paraphernalia. The estimated value of the seized items is approximately $80,000. The driver and passenger were both arrested and charged.

As a result, Peter BRENNAN, 39, of Wellesley, was charged, and held in custody pending a bail hearing for the offences of:

  • Possessing Cannabis for the Purpose of Selling
  • Possession for the Purpose of Distributing

Also, Ronald KEESO, 56, of Wellesley, was charged and released for the offences of:

  • Possessing Cannabis for the Purpose of Selling
  • Possession for the Purpose of Distributing

The accused parties are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Horse Runs Into Vehicle

(OXFORD COUNTY, ON) – On Saturday, December 19, 2020, at approximately 7:04 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Oxford County Detachment investigated a collision at a Highway 59, Norwich Township address.

It has been determined that at approximately 6;00 p.m., a motor vehicle was travelling on Highway 59 between New road and Ninth Road when a horse ran into the side of  the vehicle. The horse then fled from the area in an unknown direction, so it is not known in the animal suffered any injuries. The damage to the vehicle is estimated at over $2,000.

Police are urging all drivers to expect the unexpected and to be aware of their surroundings at all times. Drivers need to focus their attention on their driving ability and avoid any unnecessary distractions.

“It’s not always possible to avoid a collision with an animal, particularly if it suddenly runs or flies onto the road. But drivers can take sensible precautions to minimize the risk of a collision. Motorists are being urged to drive with caution and within the speed limit and to be aware of their surroundings at all times. Predictable is preventable, make safety a priority.’ – Inspector Tony Hymers, Detachment Commander, Oxford County OPP.

Goderich Methamphetamine Bust – Name Released

(GODERICH, ON) – A recent traffic stop in Goderich has resulted in a drug trafficking charge being laid against a Goderich resident. 

On Saturday, December 12, 2020 at approximately 10:11 a.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer observed a known suspended driver travelling westbound on Huron Road. A traffic stop was conducted and a check on the driver indeed confirmed the driver was driving with two valid driver’s licence suspensions.  

The driver was arrested and a search incident to arrest resulted in police finding suspected methamphetamine and drug trafficking materials. 

As a result, Jeoffrey JEWER, 54 years of age from Goderich has been charged with Trafficking a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine and Driving While Under Suspension – 2 Counts. He has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for February 22, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Fatal Snowplow Collision Update – Name Of 19 Year Old Deceased Released

(WEST PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a fatal collision involving a car and a snowplow south of Mitchell.

Just before 8:30 p.m. on December 19 2020, the Perth County OPP, Perth County Paramedic Service, and the West Perth Fire Department responded to a collision at the intersection of Perth Road 164 (Highway 23) and Line 32, just south of Mitchell.

The initial investigation has determined that a car travelling westbound on Line 32 and a snowplow travelling northbound on Road 164 collided at the intersection. This intersection is controlled by a stop sign in the east and west directions.

The driver of the car was transported to a local hospital, where they were pronounced deceased. The driver has since been identified as Kylie MCBETH, 19, of Moorefield.

A passenger of the car was also transported to local hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the snowplow was not injured.

The West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team assisted with the investigation. The areas surrounding Perth Road 164 was closed for the investigation, but have since reopened.

Break And Enter At Columbus Centre – Suspect(s) At Large

(NORTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers are actively investigating a break, enter and theft that took place this weekend in Wingham.

Sometime between 5:30 p.m. on Friday, December 18th and 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 19th, 2020 a thief stole $180 cash and a canvass bag from an office located within the Columbus Centre located on Kerr Drive in Wingham.

Anti-Vaxxer Confronted With Pickaxe

On December 19, 2020, at approximately 1:10 p.m., Waterloo Regional Police responded to a weapon call in a parking lot around Weber Street North and Bridgeport Road East in Waterloo. A male confronted the victim while brandishing a weapon after the victim displayed a sign with anti-COVID-19 vaccination messaging. Police located the suspect in the area and placed him under arrest. As a result of the investigation, a 49-year-old Waterloo male has been charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. The accused is scheduled to appear in court in late January 2021.

Repeat Offender Arrested Again – MILLS

(HURON EAST, ON) – A South Huron resident wanted for shoplifting was taken into custody by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers over the weekend. 

Just after 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 19, 2020 Huron County OPP officers were patrolling in Vanastra on 12th Street when they came upon a suspect attempting to hide from the officers. Officers were eventually able to detain the suspect and it became apparent to the officers the suspect was wanted in connection with some recent shoplifting incidents. 

Over the last few weeks the accused stole bottles of liquor from businesses in Exeter and Clinton on three separate occasions. 

Bradley MILLS, 32 years of age from South Huron has been charged with the following offences: Resist Peace Officer, Fail to Comply With Probation Order – seven counts and Theft Under $5,000 – three counts. The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for January 25, 2021.

Critical Shutdown Postponed As Ford Claims Restaurants Have Inventory To Get Rid Of – Dozens Expected To Die Due To Ford’s Cowardice

Doug Ford refused to order an immediate province wide shutdown despite the urgent plea from hospitals, in fact he postponed it until midnight on Boxing Day. When questioned why the shutdown isn’t immediate, Premier Ford claimed that there could be some restaurants that might have some inventory in the green and yellow zones, and they might need until Saturday morning to clear out that inventory. 

The lockdown will not happen for 5 more days risking countless thousands of lives. On the bright side, Ford can now claim he saved Christmas.

I hope Doug Ford will not be boasting about saving Christmas in front of those that will suffer the loss of a loved one due to Ford’s cowardice in calling an immediate shutdown.

Criminal Rams Cruiser While Escaping – Suspect At Large

On December 18, 2020, at approximately 8:55 p.m., members of Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Community Oriented Response Enforcement (CORE) team attempted to stop an older model black Honda CRV for a licence plate infraction.

The unknown driver reversed the vehicle at a high rate of speed, colliding with a police vehicle and damaged gas meters on a nearby building. The driver fled from the parking lot at a high rate of speed and was eventually located by officers in the area of Courtland Avenue East and Shelley Drive in Kitchener. Police engaged the driver in a brief pursuit, but it was discontinued for public safety reasons.

The vehicle was later located abandoned by River Road East in Kitchener. Police searched the area for the driver but did not locate the individual. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone who may have been in the area at the time and has surveillance footage or dash-cam video is encouraged to call police at 519-570-9777 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. There were no reported injuries as a result of the incident. Utility services attended to repair the damaged gas meters.

Covid-19 Outbreak At Listowel Hospital, Stratford General Hospital, Knollcrest Lodge & Cedarcroft

    • An outbreak has been declared on the 2nd floor medicine unit of the Listowel Memorial Hospital. Currently, 4 patients and 8 staff have been identified as part of the outbreak.  HPPH is working closely with the hospital in responding to the outbreak. AMDSB, OSSTF Teachers Reach Tentative Agreement

Thursday evening, representatives from Avon Maitland District School Board (AMDSB) and the Ontario Secondary School Teacher’s Federation (OSSTF) District 8 Teachers reached a tentative collective agreement. The details of the agreement must be kept confidential until both parties ratify
the agreement. Ratification meetings and votes are anticipated to be held in January or February.


The parties had met for negotiations on 14 days, dating back to June 2020. Negotiations began in a virtual format due to strict pandemic guidelines, but recently had moved to socially distanced face-to-face meetings using appropriate protocols.


“Negotiations were challenging; not necessarily because there were a lot of contentious issues, but rather the environment that we worked under – both virtual and face-to-face, all under strict health guidelines over the last six months,” stated local OSSTF President Shane Restall.


The tentative agreement brings all secondary teachers working for AMDSB – contract teachers, continuing education teachers and occasional teachers – together into one document. Previously, local OSSTF occasional teachers had their own agreement. “We are thrilled to have reached a tentative agreement and bringing the secondary, contract, continuing education and occasional teachers under one agreement has been a welcome change.


We look forward to the ratification process and appreciate the union’s flexibility as we navigated COVID-19 protocols,” said Paul Langis, AMDSB Superintendent of Human Resource Services. The tentative agreement, if ratified, would complete the two-pronged contract talks for local secondary teachers under the School Board Collective Bargaining Act. The central portion of the agreement was ratified by OSSTF, the Provincial Government and the Ontario Public School Boards Association (OPSBA) in May 2020 after widespread political and labour unrest in the Ontario education sector during late 2019 and early 2020.


There are approximately 430 secondary teachers, occasional teachers and continuing education teachers working for AMDSB represented by OSSTF District 8 who have been without a contract since August 2019.

Cornelious HILDEBRANT – Impaired Driving, Drive While Suspended, Drugs, etc.

(OXFORD COUNTY, ON) – On Thursday, December 17, 2020, at approximately 11:20 a.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Oxford County Detachment stopped and investigated a vehicle at a Brock Street East, Tillsonburg address.

It was determined that an officer was conducting patrols in the area Broadway Street when a vehicle attracted the officer’s attention which was stopped and subsequently investigated.

As a result of investigation, police have charged 34-year-old Cornelious HILDEBRANT of Bayham, Ontario with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired-alcohol and drugs,
  • Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code,
  • Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available,
  • Driving while under suspension, and
  • Owner operate motor vehicle on a highway, no insurance.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Woodstock at a later date.
