$200,000 HVAC Scam

(OXFORD COUNTY, ON) – On Saturday, December 12, 2020, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Oxford County OPP Crime Unit charged an individual after investigating several allegations of fraud at a North Street East, Tillsonburg address.

It was determined that between Saturday, September 1, 2018, and Tuesday, January 21, 2020, police investigated several complaints of fraud involving a Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning business.

As a result, members of the Oxford County OPP Crime Unit arrested and charged 53-year-old Steve Joseph George BLONDIN of Richmond Hill, Ontario with fraud under $5,000 and three counts of fraud over $5,000.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Woodstock at a later date.

Impaired Driver Assaults Officer

(MEAFORD, ON) – On December 30, 2020 at 4:10 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a possible impaired driver on Moore Street, near the 11th Line in the Municipality of Meaford.

OPP officers located the involved vehicle and spoke with the driver, who displayed obvious signs of impairment.  The driver was arrested for impaired driving and was transported to the Grey Bruce OPP detachment in Chatsworth. A breath test conducted at the detachment, recorded readings over the legal limit of 80 mgs of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

The driver assaulted an officer while in custody. The officer sustained minor injuries which did not require medical treatment.

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Tina WELLER, 48 years-of-age, from Meaford, with the following offences:

  • Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, section 320.14(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)
  • Operation while impaired with blood alcohol concentration 80 mgs or more, section 320.14(1)(b) CCC
  • Assault a Peace Officer, section 270(1)(a) CCC

The accused must attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on February 4, 2021.

Repeat Offender Arrested – Methamphetamine A Factor

(MIDDLESEX, ON) – On Monday January 4, 2021 at 08:11 a.m. a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on a motor vehicle in the area of Hamilton Rd. and Clarke Rd., located in the City of London, for a traffic related offence. During the course of the traffic stop the officer soon learned that the driver was suspended from driving and was found in possession of a controlled substance.

As a result of an investigation police have charged Zackary FURSMAN – age 28- of London, ON., with:

  • Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code as per section 320.18(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine as per section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)
  • Two counts of Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Other Drugs-CDSA 4(1)
  • Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court as per section 145(5)(a) CC
  • CC 117.01(1) Possession of prohibited weapon contrary to a Prohibition Order as per section 117.01(1)
  • The accused has also been charged with two counts under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and one count under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA).

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in an Ontario Court of Justice on March 26, 2021 to speak to the charges.

Drunk Driver Ends Up On Front Lawn – TUOHY

(TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERAMOSA, ON) – On December 31, 2020, at approximately 9:05 p.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on Wellington Road 124 near the Fourth Line of Guelph-Eramosa Township. It was reported that a motor vehicle had left the roadway, entered a ditch and came to rest on the front lawn of a residence. The vehicle was observed being removed by a tow truck.

Police located the vehicle and spoke with the driver and determined that their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and they were placed under arrest. The driver was transported to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing.

Kyle Patrick TUOHY, 22-years-old of Guelph has been charged with Impaired Operation and Impaired Operation – 80 Plus (mg of alcohol per 100 mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code.

 A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph on February 5, 2021.

Taxi Driver Robbed – MCPHERSON Arrested

(COUNTY OF BRANT, ON) -Members of the Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a reported robbery on William Street in Paris in the County of Brant at approximately 5:10 a.m. on January 4, 2021.

County of Brant OPP members attended and determined that an altercation took place in a taxi cab between the driver and a customer. During the altercation the driver’s purse containing personal property was taken and the suspect fled the area on foot.

Police located and arrested the suspect a short distance from the incident.

County of Brant OPP have charged Wesley MCPHERSON 30-years-old of the County of Brant with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada:

  • Robbery Section 344(1)(b)
  • Assault Section 266

The accused will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date to answer to the charges

2 Year Old Locked In Vehicle

(OXFORD COUNTY, ON) – On Friday, January 1, 2021, at approximately 1:12 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Oxford County Detachment responded to 9-1-1 emergency call for a child locked in a vehicle at a Gobles Road, Blandford-Blenheim Township address.

It was determined that a child was accidentally locked in a running motor vehicle at which time police were called. A local towing company was subsequently contacted and attended the address. As a result, the 2-year-old child was and reunited with their parents. No injuries were reported.

What do you do if your child is locked in a car?

  • Call 9-1-1 for help. Police and fire personnel will be immediately dispatched to your location.
  • Block the sunlight.
  • Remain calm.
  • Take note of the time.

The OPP is encouraging all parent and caregivers to carry their vehicle keys on their person at all times in case the locks on the vehicle engage without notice.

28 Year Old With Weed Caught Going 150 in a 100

(OXFORD COUNTY, ON) – On Saturday, January 2, 2021, at approximately 8:23 p.m., an officer with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), West Region Highway Safety Division stopped and investigated a vehicle at a Highway 401, Woodstock address.

It was determined that officers were conducting speed enforcement westbound on Highway 401 when they observed a vehicle that appeared to be travelling at a high rate of speed. The motor vehicle ran through radar at over 150 km/h in a posted 100 km/h zone.

As a result, police charged a 28-year-old Dwayne Benson ARCHIBALD of Mississauga, Ontario with the following offences:

·        Race a motor vehicle – excessive speed,

·        Novice driver – blood alcohol concentration above zero,

·        Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor,

·        Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available, and

·        Class G1 licence holder – drive on prohibited highway.

OPP are reminding all motorists that the minimum fine if convicted is $2,000 and an automatic drivers licence suspension for seven (7) days and seven (7) day vehicle impoundment.

The driver is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Woodstock at a later date.

Snowmobile Stolen From Walkerton – Plate: 3AE794

(WALKERTON, ON) – On January 2, 2021 at 9:07 a.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a theft report from a residence along Westwood Drive in Walkerton. Sometime between 11:00 p.m. on January 1, 2021 and 5:30 a.m. on January 2, 2021, a Blue Yamaha Nitro FX1 snowmobile with license number 3AE794 was taken. The serial number is on file with police.

23 Year Old Facing Impaired Driving Charge Following Collision

(BROOKE-ALVINSTON TWP, ON) – On December 30, 2020 at approximately 3:30 a.m. members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision on Courtright Line, Brooke-Alvinston Township where the driver was observed to be fleeing the area on foot.

Lambton OPP members attended the area where they located the vehicle and the fleeing driver. Upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage, at which time a roadside screening device was administered. A reading of “FAIL” was determined. The driver was arrested for impaired operation and provided two samples over the legal limit.

Connor MOLZAN, 23 year old of Alvinston, has been charged with Operation While Impaired- Alcohol and Blood and Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus), pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada 

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice-Sarnia on January 18, 2021.

Fatal Collision Update – 31 Year Old Charged

(LAKESHORE, ON) – On December 31, 2020, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) laid charges as a result of an investigation into the fatal collision that occurred on December 12, 2020 on County Road 46 east of County Road 19, Lakeshore.

 Jonathon GRELLETTE, 31-years-old, of Lakeshore was arrested and charged with Criminal Code of Canada offences:

  • Dangerous Operation causing death
  • Dangerous Operation causing bodily harm

The matter is scheduled for January 27, 2021, at the Windsor Ontario Court of Justice.

Cassandra RIDEOUT, 30-years-old of Lakeshore, died when the vehicle she was a passenger in was involved in a collision with another vehicle. 

A section of County Road 46 was closed for several hours as the OPP’s Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) completed their investigation.

Heroes Follow Muggers Until Police Arrive – Two Violent Offenders Arrested

On December 31, 2020, at approximately 3 p.m., Waterloo Regional Police responded to the area of Kingsway Drive and Wilson Avenue in Kitchener for a report of a robbery in progress.

A female victim was walking in the area when two male suspects approached her from behind, assaulted her, and stole personal property. Two witnesses observed the incident and followed the suspects. A quick and coordinated response from patrol and with the assistance of K9 and members of the Emergency Response Team, officers located the two suspects. As a result of the investigation a 14-year-old male and a 15-year-old male, both from Kitchener were arrested and charged with Robbery.

Another Catalytic Convertor Stolen From Vehicle

(COUNTY OF BRANT, ON) -Members of the County of Brant Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a residence in response to a theft from a parked vehicle on Trillium Way in Paris in the County of Brant on December 31, 2020 at approximately 11:20 a.m.

The OPP investigators attended 170 Trillium Way in Paris in the County of Brant and found that unknown person(s) stole a catalytic convertor from a parked vehicle between December 30, 2020 at 10:00 p.m. and December 31, 2020 at 11:20 a.m.

$750,000 Barn Fire

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County Detachment investigated a fire that destroyed a barn on River Road in Dunnville, Haldimand County, Ontario.   

On Saturday January 2, 2020 at 6:49 a.m., OPP and Haldimand County Fire Services responded to River Road for a report of a structure fire.

Haldimand County Fire Services extinguished the fire and confirmed there were no injuries to anyone nor to any livestock.

Haldimand County Fire Services has determined the cause of the fire is not suspicious.

The total damage is estimated at over $750,000.

The Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal has been notified.

Armed Robbery At Convenience Store

On January 4, 2021, at approximately 1 a.m., Waterloo Regional Police responded to a convenience store on Highland Road East, in Kitchener for a report of a robbery. The suspect entered the store, brandished a weapon, and demanded money.

The victim did not sustain any physical injuries. The suspect has been described as female, white, approximately 5’7″ tall, with a thin build, wearing a grey jacket with a white inner hood, dark jeans, and black running shoes. Police are looking to identify and speak with this individual in connection to the incident. Hero Chases Down Criminal & Pins Him To The Ground Until Police Arrive – William BOYD-URENA Arrested

(LAMBTON SHORES, ON) – On January 1, 2021 at approximately 11:15 a.m. members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a break and enter in progress at a residence on James Street North, Town of Forest.  

While on route to the residence, Lambton OPP Community Street Crime Unit was advised the home owner had chased the suspect on foot and was holding the suspect on the ground, awaiting police arrival.  

William BOYD-URENA, 28 year old of Forest, was arrested and charged with the following, pursuant to the Criminal Code

  • Break, Enter a Place – Commit Indictable Offence

The accused was released and scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice-Sarnia on February 8, 2021.
