Fergus “Drug” Bust – 4,300 Plants

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On June 24, 2021, Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) executed a Cannabis Act search warrant at a commercial property on Glengary Crescent in Fergus.

Members of the Wellington County OPP CSCU, Wellington County Crime Unit and uniform officers, with the assistance of Huron Perth and Grey Bruce CSCU’s, the Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team (PJFCET), the OPP Provincial Asset Forfeiture Unit (PAFU) and the West Region OPP Support Unit seized over 4300 plants worth approximately 4.3 million dollars as well as $250,000 worth of processed cannabis. A large quantity of Canadian currency was also seized.

The County of Wellington Roads Department assisted OPP with the disposable of the cannabis while the Electrical Safety Authority and Centre Wellington Fire and Rescue conducted their own independent investigations.  

The following individuals are charged under the Cannabis Act with Cultivate, Propagate or Harvest Any Cannabis Plant at a Place That is Not Their Dwelling-House or to Offer to do so and Possession for the Purpose of Selling.

·      Wei CHEN, 40-years-old of Aurora

·      Zhong Xiang CHEN, 30-years-old of Gwillimbury

The accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph July 27, 2021 to answer to the charges.

The PJFCET is responsible for enforcing the cannabis laws and investigating criminal enterprises that exploit or abuse the legal cannabis market.

20 Year Old Caught Going 2x Speed Limit Near Exeter

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – A driver from Brampton is facing a Stunt driving charge following a traffic stop that took place near Exeter over the weekend. 

At approximately 8:00 p.m. on June 19, 2021 a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting speed enforcement on Thames Road east of Exeter when an eastbound car was observed speeding along at a high rate of speed. The investigating officer utilized a RADAR device to measure the speed of the Racing vehicle and it was measured at a speed double the 90 km/h posted speed limit.   

A traffic stop was initiated and the driver was subsequently charged. Rashmeet BLAGAN, 20 years of age from Brampton has been charged with Stunt Driving – Speeding by 50 km/h or more. A court date has been scheduled for August 10, 2021 at Provincial Offences Court – Goderich. The defendant’s motor vehicle has been seized and impounded for the week, as well, an automatic 7-day driver’s licence suspension has been served on the driver.

Bruce BROCKELBANK – 130 in an 80

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A resident of Bluewater is facing a Racing charge following a traffic stop conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) last week. 

On June 17, 2021 a Huron OPP officer was patrolling on Base Line when the officer observed a sport utility vehicle travelling northbound at a high rate of speed. A RADAR device was utilized and it measured the speed of the motor vehicle at a rate in excess of 130 km/h in the posted 80 km/h zone. 

A traffic stop was initiated and the driver was subsequently charged. Bruce BROCKELBANK, 58 years of age, from the Municipality of Bluewater has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle – Excessive Speed. A court date has been scheduled for August 10, 2021 at Provincial Offences Court – Goderich. The defendant’s motor vehicle has been seized and impounded for the week, as well, an automatic 7-day driver’s licence suspension has been served on the driver.

Drunk Driver Arrested On Mill Road – Dean DOBSON

(BLUEWATER, ON) – A resident of Bluewater is facing an Impaired Operation – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus charge following an investigation conducted last week by members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment.

At approximately 2:12 p.m. on June 16, 2021 Huron OPP officers stopped the accused on Mill Road and while speaking with the driver the investigating officer detected the odour of alcohol on the driver. A roadside screening test was performed and the driver registered a fail. Upon doing so the driver was arrested and transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. 

Further tests were completed at the Huron OPP Detachment and the driver’s breath samples were found to be over the legal limit by the qualified Intoxilizer Technician.

Dean DOBSON, 52 years of age, from the Municipality of Bluewater been charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus. The accused now has a court appearance scheduled for July 12, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.   

The involved vehicle was towed from the scene and has been impounded. Additionally, the driver is facing an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension.

6 Million Dollar “Drug” Bust

(KINGSVILLE, ON) – On June 23, 2021, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) executed a Cannabis Act search warrant at a greenhouse located in the 800 block of Seacliff Drive in the Town of Kingsville.

Provincial Joint Force Cannabis Enforcement Team (PJFCET), members of the Essex County Detachment, OPP Essex County and OPP Lambton County Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), along with members of the Provincial Asset Forfeiture Unit (PAFU) and OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS), seized over 3500 cannabis plants, over 640 kilograms of processed cannabis and a large quantity of marihuana production equipment.

The total value of seized cannabis and equipment is estimated to be over $6.1 million dollars.

The investigation is continuing.

7 More Arrested In Connection With Homicides

(BRANTFORD, ON) -The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), in a joint investigation with Brantford Police Service, entitled “Project Grantham” under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), have arrested and charged seven additional individuals in connection with two homicides. Both homicides occurred in the City of Brantford in July 2019.

“Project Grantham,” a collaborative and cooperative investigative initiative, was created in response to the homicides of Coby “Kareem” CARTER, 22 years old, of Hamilton, Ontario, Dorothy Lynn VANEVERY, 62 years old, and Larry REYNOLDS, 64 years old, both of Brantford, Ontario.

On July 8, 2019, officers responded to a Colborne Street West address in the City of Brantford, and located a deceased male. On July 18, 2019, police responded to an address on Park Road South, in the City of Brantford, and located a deceased male and a deceased female.

Throughout the investigation, “Project Grantham” uncovered vital information involving all three homicides. As a result, the Brantford Police Service and OPP arrested and charged Abdelaziz Faiz IBRAHIM, 24 years old, of Hamilton, Ontario with First Degree Murder, contrary to Section 235(1) of the Criminal Code in connection with the death of Coby “Kareem” CARTER.

The accused is schedule to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Brantford at a later date.

The following individuals named below are each charged with two counts of First-Degree Murder, contrary to Section 235(1) of the Criminal Code, and one count of Conspiracy to Commit Murder, contrary to Section 465 (1)(a) of the Criminal Code in the deaths of Lynn VANEVERY and Larry REYNOLDS:

  • Malik MBUYI, 20 years old of Toronto,
  • Nathan HOWES, 31 years old of Brantford,
  • Dylan ALRIDGE, 24 years old of North York,
  • Terrell PHILBERT, 22 years old of York,
  • Thomy BAEZ-EUSEBIO, 23 years old of Toronto, and
  • Salloum JASSEM, 32 years old of Brant County.

All individuals remain in custody.

Investigators have determined that neither Lynn VANEVERY nor Larry REYNOLDS were the perpetrators’ intended target.

15 Month Old Deceased – VAN HOOF Facing Manslaughter Charge

(STRATHROY-CARADOC, ON) – On Wednesday, June 23, 2021, members of the Strathroy-Caradoc Police Service and Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, arrested a Strathroy resident following a joint investigation into the death of a 15-month-old child.

On October 31, 2015, Nathaniel MCLELLAN, 15 months of age of the Municipality of North Middlesex, died in a London hospital.

Meggin VAN HOOF, 42-years-old of Strathroy, has been charged with Manslaughter, under Section 236(b) of the Criminal Code. The accused was held in custody for a scheduled court appearance on June 23, 2021, at the Ontario Court of Justice in London.

The investigation was completed by members of the Strathroy-Caradoc Police Service, Middlesex OPP Crime Unit, OPP West Region Criminal Operations and OPP Forensic Identification Services, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, in cooperation with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

Fatal Backhoe Incident – Name Of Deceased Released

(Township of Malahide, ON) – Elgin County OPP officers responded to a sudden death incident which occurred at approximately 11:02am on the 23rd of June, 2021 in a wooded area on the North side of Nova Scotia Line between Richmond Rd and Carter Rd. Township of Malahide.

Police, Malahide Fire and EMS responded to report that a person had become trapped between the boom and rear of a backhoe. Police investigation determined that the victim had been working in the area of the backhoe when they became pinned between the boom and one of the rear stabilizer legs of the backhoe.

The victim, a 62 year old Malahide resident, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police have identified the deceased as Richard TOBOLA of Nova Scotia Line, Township of Malahide.

A post mortem examination has been scheduled for the 24th of June, 2021.

No foul play is suspected, police continue to investigate.

Austin ULETT – 144 in an 80

(WEST PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged another driver after they were speeding more than 60km/h over the limit in the Municipality of West Perth.

On June 17, 2021 just after 6:00 p.m., police stopped a vehicle on Perth Road 164 after it was found to be travelling more than 144km/h in a posted 80km/h zone.

As a result, Austin ULETT, 24, of London, has been charged with:

–       Race motor vehicle – Excessive Speed

A seven day driving suspension and seven day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Dustin MILLER Charged Again – Road Rage

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – On Monday June 17, 2021 just before 7:30 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was contacted in regards to a suspected road rage incident on Road 157 in the Municipality of North Perth.

An incident occurred involving a motor vehicle and an e-bicycle that resulted in the occupants of the e-bicycle leaving the roadway. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident. This was an isolated incident.

–       Driving While Under Suspension

Jo-Anne VANDYKE Charged Following Collision

(PERTH EAST, ON) – On Monday June 17, 2021 just before 7:00 a.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Perth County Paramedic Services, and the Perth East Fire Department responded to a two vehicle collision on Perth Line 34 in the Township of Perth East.

One person was transported to local hospital with minor injuries. No other injuries were reported.

Skyler PATTON & William PATTON Arrested Following Violent Break And Enter

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – On Monday, June 21 2021, at approximately 7:01 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment responded to an emergency 9-1-1 call for a break and enter in progress at a Main Street, South Walsingham, Norfolk County address.

Investigation determined that two individuals had previously attended the address and purchased an item that was listed or sale from a website. Both later returned and forced entry into a shop located on the property where several items were stolen.  During the entry, the homeowner was assaulted. No injuries were reported.

Both then fled from the area in a vehicle and were subsequently located by Oxford County OPP and taken into custody without incident.

Charged break and enter and theft over $5,000 is 23-year-old Skyler PATTON of Stratford, Ontario.

Charged with the following offences is 26-year-old William PATTON of Ingersoll, Ontario;

·      Break and enter,

·      Theft over $5,000,

·      Uttering threats – damage property, and

·      Assault.

Both are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe at a later date.

Ryan DODGE – 130 in an 80

(BRUCE TWP, ON) – On June 12, 2021 at 3:27 p.m., a member of the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) noticed a vehicle on Highway 21 in Bruce Township moving at a high rate of speed. The vehicle’s speed was displayed on radar at more than 130 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone.

Ryan DODGE, 25-years-old, of Waterloo was charged with Race a Motor Vehicle.

This charge includes an immediate 7-day vehicle impoundment and an immediate 7-day driver’s license suspension.

Pride Flags & Signage Stolen

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County Detachment is investigating a theft of a Pride flag and Pride signage from two separate addresses in Dunnville.

OPP investigation has determined between Saturday 19, 2021 at 10:30 p.m. and Sunday June 20, 2021 at 7:45 p.m., unknown(s) took down a Pride flag from a local high school and also removed Pride signs from a residence.

Mathieu AMYOT – Drunk Driving

(CITY OF GUELPH, ON) – On June 18, 2021, at approximately 7:00 p.m., a member of Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated the driver of a pick-up truck on Victoria Road North in the City of Guelph.

As a result, Mathieu AMYOT, 30-years-old of Kitchener has been charged with Operation While Impaired – 80 Plus contrary to the Criminal Code. 

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on July 20, 2021 to answer to the charge.
