Kyle CHAPMAN Was Arrested

(HUNTSVILLE, ON) – The Huntsville Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged a driver after a report of a vehicle off the road.

On April 17, 2024, at approximately 7:30 a.m., police received a report of a single motor vehicle off the road on Centre Street in the Town of Huntsville.

As a result of the investigation, Kyle CHAPMAN, 35 years of age, from Armour Township was charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·      Possession of a Schedule II Substance for the purpose of trafficking

·      Driving while under suspension 

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on June 4, 2024.

Ana Maria TIMOFTE Was Arrested

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual was charged following an investigation into an incident of impaired driving.

At approximately 11:22 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment responded to and investigated a single-vehicle collision on Lakeshore Road in Clear Creek, Norfolk County. No injuries were reported.

After assessing the driver’s sobriety at the roadside, the driver was taken into custody without incident.

Charged with the following alleged offences is 49-year-old Ana Maria TIMOFTE of Norfolk County:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs,
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus),
  • Failure to comply with Undertaking.

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear at a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe.

More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(GREATER NAPANEE, ON) – Officers of the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged two drivers with impaired driving.

On April 16, 2024, shortly before 11:00 a.m., officers from the L&A County OPP received multiple traffic complaints of a vehicle failing to maintain its lane on Highway 401 eastbound. Police located and stopped the vehicle just before the County Road 41 exit. Police arrested the driver for impaired driving.

As a result of this investigation, L&A County OPP has charged Raviendran SOMASUNDARAM, age 57, of Scarborough, with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was held for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on a later date. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

On April 16, 2024, shortly before 10:00 p.m., officers from the L&A County OPP received a report of a vehicle that was all over the road before it pulled into a business at County Road 41 and Community Road . Police attended the scene and arrested the driver for impaired driving.

As a result of this investigation, L&A County OPP has charged John BABULA, age 64, of North Frontenac Township, with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on May 7, 2024. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Arrests Made In Covid-19 Debacle

(TORONTO, ON) – Members of the Serious Fraud Office for Ontario (SFO) have continued their investigation into individuals receiving small business relief funds through fraudulent means and have made two more arrests.

In fall 2020, the Ontario Government announced and began rolling out small business relief programs to assist small businesses with operating costs and loss of revenue due to mandatory COVID-19 pandemic closures. After reviewing the applications of two individuals from the Greater Toronto Area, the Ministry of Finance deemed them suspicious and referred them to the SFO for investigation.

It is alleged relief funding from the government was applied for through fictitious or ineligible businesses. In these cases, the grant found to be exploited was the COVID-19 Energy Cost Rebate program.

As a result of the investigation, two individuals have been arrested and charged with offences contrary to the Criminal Code:

Theophilus OGUNKUNLE, aged 51 years of Woodbridge, is charged with:

·      Fraud Over $5,000

·      Utter Forged Document

·      Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

Omolola OGUNKUNLE, aged 36 years of Woodbridge, is charged with:

·      Fraud Over $5,000

·      Utter Forged Document

·      Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

The accused have been released and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket on May 10, 2024.

The SFO will not comment further in order to protect the integrity of the investigation and court processes.

60Kg Cocaine & 13Kg Meth Seized – Names Released

(TORONTO, ON) – Twenty illegal firearms and 73 kilograms of illicit drugs have been seized by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP)-led Provincial Joint Forces Guns and Gangs Enforcement Team (PGNG).  

The OPP-led PGNG assisted the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) Organized Crime Division with a drug trafficking investigation that identified large quantities of cocaine transported between Toronto and Montréal and the surrounding area.

On March 27, 2024, PGNG executed two search warrants on a vehicle and a residence on Ridelle Avenue in Toronto. The following items were seized:

·      Approximately 60 kilograms of cocaine

·      Approximately 13 kilograms of methamphetamine

·      20 firearms including 19 handguns and one assault rifle

·      3,000 rounds of ammunition

·      53 magazines

·      Four drum magazines

·      66 Glock auto switches (used to convert to automatic firearms)

·      Three bullet proof vests

·      One ballistic helmet

Bradley NELSON, 35 years of age of Whitby, was arrested in Toronto by PGNG. The accused has been charged with a total of 68 charges under the Criminal Code and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act including:

·      Unauthorized possession of a firearm – 20 counts

·      Unauthorized possession of a firearm knowing its unauthorized – 20 counts

·      Possession for the purpose of trafficking firearms – 19 counts

·      Possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order – two counts

·      Possession of a prohibited device – two counts

·      Careless storage of a firearm

·      Trafficking of a controlled substance, cocaine

·      Trafficking of a controlled substance, methamphetamine

·      Possession for the purpose of trafficking, cocaine

·      Possession for the purpose of trafficking, methamphetamine

The accused was held in custody and will appear before an Ontario Court of Justice in Toronto on May 2, 2024.

Gurbakhshish CHEEMA Was Arrested

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual involved in a collision with numerous offences.

On April 13, 2024, shortly after 9:00 p.m., officers responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on Kennedy Road, at Dougall Avenue, in the Town of Caledon. The pedestrian sustained only minor injuries as a result of the collision. During the course of the investigation, officers formed grounds that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested.

As a result, Gurbakhshish CHEEMA, 66, of Caledon, was charged with:

·        Failure to stop after accident

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on May 2, 2024, to answer to the charges. Additionally, the driver’s vehicle was impounded for a period of seven days, and their driver’s licence suspended for a period of 90 days.

Drivers who are impaired by drugs or alcohol continue to pose a significant threat on Ontario roads. Only One Headlight Leads To $30,000 Drug Bust

(HAWKESBURY, ON) – The Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two people, and seized more than $30,000 worth of drugs and $2,235 in Canadian currency following a traffic stop.

On April 16, 2024, at approximately 1:20 a.m., OPP officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle headed eastbound on Highway 417 at mile marker 35 due to a burnt out headlight.

As a result of the investigation, the driver – 34-year-old Etienne Joseph Montpetit from Ottawa – was arrested and charged with the following offences under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA), and the Criminal Code (CC):

  • CDSA – Adult possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
  • CDSA – Adult possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Methamphetamine
  • CDSA – Adult possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Other Drugs
  • CC Adult possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 – in Canada

The passenger, 39-year-old Ryan Gordon from Ottawa, was also charged with the following offences under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA), and the Criminal Code (CC):

  • CDSA – Adult possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
  • CDSA – Adult possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Methamphetamine
  • CDSA – Adult possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Other Drugs
  • CC Adult possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 – in Canada

Both males were released from custody and are scheduled to appear in court on May 8, 2024 at the L’Orignal Court of Justice.

Police Recover Stolen Construction Equipment LENZ & LENZ Arrested

(Oro-Medonte, ON) – Officers from the Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) recovered a large construction implement from a property in Oro-Medonte.

On April 11, 2024, members of the Orillia Detachment with the assistance of the Orillia Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) executed a Search Warrant at a commercial property on highway 11. Police recovered an industrial grade tamper valued at over $18000.00. Police also seized nine other pieces of equipment and are investigating their origin.

As a result of the investigation the following individuals have been charged:

Robert LENZ (43), of Oro-Medonte:

·      Escape Lawful Custody

·      Resist Peace Officer

·      Obstruct Police Officer

·      Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000

The accused was held pending a bail hearing on April 12, 2024 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie.

·      Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000

The accused was released on an Undertaking to appear on May 14, 2024, before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia

Shots Fired – One Sent To Hospital #Anarchy

(Ramara, ON) – Members of Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police and Rama Police Service attended an address on Fish Sideroad following reports of shots being fired at a residence.

On April 15, 2024 at approximately 4:45 am Orillia OPP were dispatched to a weapons call, following reports of gunfire at a residence. Upon arrival at the scene, police located an individual with injuries, who was transported by Simcoe County Paramedics to a local hospital. Members of the Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Canine conducted a search of the area.  Members of the Orillia Detachment Crime Unit have taken over the investigation and are being assisted by OPP Forensic Identification Services.  Residents were asked to remain in their residences and lock their doors during the incident while police searched the area for the suspect(s), which was concluded around 7:10 am. No suspect(s) were located. 

Police are requesting anyone who witnessed anything suspicious or have surveillance in the area between 3:00 am and 6:00 am are requested to review their footage and contact Orillia OPP or Crime Stoppers.

Anonymous Violent Criminal Punches Officer In Face Then Released In Hanover #NameNames #CowardCops

On April 16th, 2024, at approximately 11:30 p.m. the Hanover Police Service responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver on 10th Street in the Town of Hanover.  Officers on patrol located the vehicle in a drive thru of a restaurant and initiated a traffic stop.

The driver, a 24-year-old Hanover man refused to provide a sample of his breath for analysis, resisted arrest and struck an officer in the face while attempting to flee the scene on foot.  The suspect was apprehended after a brief foot chase.

Officers seized a small quantity of methamphetamine along with open alcohol from the vehicle.  Further investigation determined the suspect was prohibited from driving under the Criminal Code for a previous impaired driving conviction in 2022 and suspended from driving under the Highway Traffic Act.

The suspect was lodged in police cells and later released when he sobered, facing the following charges.

  1. Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance – Methamphetamine
  2. Fail or Refusal to Comply with Demand
  3. Resist Peace Officer
  4. Operation while Prohibited x 2
  5. Obstruct Peace Officer
  6. Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest

Violent Repeat Offenders Arrested – Hanover Police Still Protecting Criminals Over Community

On April 6th, 2024, at 8:37 a.m. members from the Hanover Police Service responded to a report of two people sleeping in a vehicle parked at an apartment complex in the 100 block of 11th Avenue in Hanover.

While on scene, officers recognized the suspects as having committed a theft in Hanover from a previous incident on April 5th.  When officers attempted to arrest the pair, they violently resisted, and the male suspect jumped into the driver’s seat with the female suspect.  Together, the suspects started the vehicle and drove into the side of the apartment building while partially dragging an officer who was in the passenger seat with them trying to effect their arrest.

The violent struggle continued after crashing into the apartment building, with the male suspect escaping custody and fleeing on foot.  An officer gave chase and captured the suspect who continued to fight and resist.  He was eventually subdued after officers deployed their tasers.  The female suspect who also resisted arrest, was taken into custody.

The investigation determined the vehicle was stolen from South Bruce O.P.P. Detachment area and both suspects were determined to be wanted in several policing jurisdictions.

The Hanover Police Service has jointly charged, a 39-year-old male of no fixed address and a 23-year-old female of no fixed address with the following criminal and drug offences:

  1. Theft Under $5000
  2. Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance
  3. Flight from a Peace Officer
  4. Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest
  5. Assault with a Weapon
  6. Resist Arrest of a Peace Officer
  7. Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000
  8. Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purposes of Trafficking
  9. Possession of Fentanyl for the Purposes of Trafficking
  10. Possession of Methamphetamine

The male suspect faces additional charges of Failure to Comply with Release Order x 3 and Failure to Comply with an Undertaking.  The female suspect faces additional charges of Operation of a Conveyance while Prohibited and Failure to Comply with Release Order x 2.

Police determined the male suspect is currently wanted on 27 criminal and drug charges in 4 policing jurisdictions in Ontario and the female suspect is currently wanted on 10 criminal charges in 2 policing jurisdictions in Ontario.

One Hanover officer received minor injuries while both suspects also sustained minor injuries that required treatment at the Hanover and District Hospital.

The exterior wall of the apartment building and the stolen vehicle both received minor damages.

The suspects were held and later remanded into custody at their bail hearings.

This incident is an example of the transient nature of people who move from one jurisdiction to the next committing crimes along the way that often results in unpredictable, volatile and dangerous situations for the police officers that encounter them.

Anonymous Repeat Offender Released In Hanover

On Monday, March 25th, 2024, members of the Hanover Police attended a business in the 1000 block of 10th Street regarding a theft.

On arrival police spoke with the 48-year-old female suspect. The female was arrested, and several items of stolen property were located on her person. The female was also breaching a previous court order at the time of arrest.

Hanover Police have charged the female under the Criminal Code with Theft, Failure to Comply with Probation and Failure to Comply with an Undertaking. She was released with an upcoming court date in Walkerton.

Repeat Offender Caught Then Released In Hanover

During the early morning hours of Friday, March 22nd, 2024, Hanover Police while investigating a separate matter observed a known 52-year-old Hanover man in the passenger seat of a vehicle.

The man was found to be violating the terms of a previous release order which listed a curfew condition. The man was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with Failure to Comply. He was released with an upcoming court date in Walkerton.

On Sunday, March 31st, 2024, Hanover Police responded to a disturbance in the 200 block of 7th Avenue.

On arrival police spoke with a 37-year-old female and 39-year-old male. Investigation revealed both were on court ordered conditions not to communicate regarding previous criminal offences.

Hanover Police arrested both charging them under the Criminal Code with breaching those conditions. They were later released with an upcoming court date in Walkerton.
