Leif KIYOSHK – Drunk Driving

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) – The Elgin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Chatham Detachment, has charged an individual following a traffic stop.

On November 5, 2024, at approximately 10:25 p.m., a member of the Elgin OPP stopped a passenger vehicle on the westbound Highway 401 near Duart Road, Municipality of Chatham-Kent.

The driver was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Leif KIYOSHK, a 33-year-old from Wallaceburg was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Speeding 1 – 49Km/h over posted limit

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Chatham on November 25, 2024.

Brian Zevenbergen – Was Arrested

(Collingwood, ON) – Members of the Collingwood and Blue Mountains Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) located, arrested and laid 10 charges in the Town of Collingwood.

On November 5, 2024 just after 9:00 p.m. members of Collingwood OPP were conducting general patrol along Spruce Street in the Town of Collingwood. It was at this time when officers observed a male who had reasonable grounds for his arrest from an incident that occurred on November 1, 2024. The male was arrested and subsequently searched during which time officers located and seized 55.1 grams of cocaine and 17.2 grams of fentanyl.

Brian Zevenbergen, a 38 year-old of no fixed address was charged with:

  • Use of Credit Card (four counts)
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 (four counts)
  • Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking (cocaine)
  • Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking (fentanyl)

The accused was transported to Collingwood detachment to be held for a virtual bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice.

More Impaired Drivers Arrested


(PETAWAWA, ON)
 – Four area residents are facing Criminal Code (CC) impaired driving charges after separate incidents in the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment area.

On October 31, 2024, at approximately 2:00 p.m. members of the UOV OPP conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle on Petawawa Boulevard in Petawawa. As part of the investigation a Roadside Screening Device was utilized, and the driver was transported to the detachment for further testing.

As a result of this investigation 69-year-old Lawrence CHAPIESKI of Petawawa has been charged with the following CC offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80mg plus

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on December 3, 2024. 

On November 2, 2024, at approximately 1:45 a.m. members of the UOV OPP conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle on Petawawa Boulevard in Petawawa. As part of the investigation a Roadside Screening Device was utilized, and the driver was transported to the detachment for further testing.

As a result of this investigation 25-year-old Cole BIRCH of Chalk River has been charged with the following CC and Liquor Licence and Control Act (LLCA) offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80mg plus
  • Having care or control of a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on December 16, 2024. 

On November 2, 2024, at approximately 3:30 a.m. members of the UOV OPP conducted a traffic stop of a speeding vehicle on Petawawa Boulevard in Petawawa. As part of the investigation a Standard Field Sobriety Test (SFST) was conducted, and further testing was conducted by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) officer at the detachment. Suspected cocaine was seized by police during the investigation. 

As a result of this investigation 37-year-old Cory Edward POPKIE of Pembroke has been charged with the following CC, LLCA, Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) offences:

  • Operation while impaired – drugs
  • Possession of a schedule I substance – cocaine
  • Speeding 1-49Km/h over the posted limit
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
  • Driving while under suspension – two counts

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on December 10, 2024. 

On November 4, at approximately 6:00 p.m., officers from the UOV OPP responded to a single-vehicle collision on Doran Road in Laurentian Valley Township after a pickup truck left the roadway and entered the ditch. The driver, who was the lone occupant, was not injured. The driver was arrested and transported to the detachment for testing. 

As a result of this investigation 30-year-old Stephan MURPHY of Whitewater Region has been charged with the following CC offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80mg plus

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on December 3, 2024. 

The accused individuals had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and their vehicles were towed and impounded for seven days.

Marilyn HAYWARD – Drunk Driving

(ORANGEVILLE, ON) – Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an Orangeville resident with impaired operation related offences as the result of public complaint.

On November 3, 2024, just after 4:00 p.m., Dufferin OPP officers received a public complaint about a possible impaired driver in the area of Broadway in the Town of Orangeville. Officers located the vehicle and were quickly led to an impaired driving investigation.

Marilyn HAYWARD, a 54-year-old female, from Orangeville has been charged with:

•      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

•      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

The accused individual is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville. Their driver’s licence was suspended 90 days, and their vehicle impounded for 7 days.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered – 4 Arrested

(HAWKESBURY, ON) – The Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has made four arrests following the recovery of a stolen vehicle.

On November 5, 2024, at approximately 4:25 am, officers located and stopped a stolen vehicle headed eastbound on Highway 417 in Champlain Township.

As a result, 23-year-old Kane ABDOULAYE of Montreal, 20-year-old Marc Tony CADET of Saint-Jean-Sur-Richelieu, and 18-year-old Delmarkson ROD of Longueuil were arrested and charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada:

  • Possessing automobile master key
  • Possession break in instruments

The three males were released from custody and are scheduled to appear in court on November 27, 2024 at the L’Orignal Court of Justice. 

A 17-year-old male from Montreal was also arrested and charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada and Highway Traffic Act (his identity protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act):

  • Theft of motor vehicle
  • Possession property obtained by crime over $5000 – in Canada
  • Drive motor vehicle – no license

The youth was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on November 28, 2024 at the L’Orignal Court of Justice.

Nafisah AMIR – Drunk Driving

(DUFFERIN, COUNTY) – Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Shelburne resident with impaired operation related offences as the result of numerous traffic complaints.

On November 4, 2024, just after 1:30 a.m., Dufferin OPP officers received multiple traffic complaints for a vehicle travelling on Highway 10 in the Town of Mono. Officers located the vehicle and were quickly led to an impaired driving investigation.

The accused individual is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville. Their driver’s licence was suspended 90 days, and their vehicle impounded for 7 days.

2 More Impaired Drivers

(RENFREW, ON) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two drivers with impaired driving in less than a week.

On October 31, 2024, at approximately 8:40 a.m., Renfrew OPP received a report of a suspected impaired driver. While officers were on their way, the vehicle was involved in a head- on collision on Highway 17 between Cobden and Haley Station.

When police arrived on scene, the driver fled on foot. An individual was located hiding in the bushes nearby and was taken into custody.

The driver of the second vehicle was transported to hospital by the County of Renfrew Paramedic Service with minor injuries.

As a result of the investigation, Corbin Blair PARKS, age 36 of Eganville was charged with:

·      Dangerous operation

·      Operation while impaired- alcohol and drugs

·      Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Failure to stop after accident

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on January 8, 2025.

On November 1, 2024, at approximately 12:10 a.m., Renfrew OPP received multiple calls regarding a suspicious vehicle driving at a high rate of speed and blaring their horn on Burnstown Road near John Box Street.

Police quickly located the vehicle, and the driver was taken into custody.

As a result of the investigation, David Herbert BADHAM, age 61 of Burnstown was charged with:

·      Operation while impaired- alcohol and drugs

·      Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on January 8, 2025.

3 Arrested – Stolen Vehicle Recovered

(THUNDER BAY, ON) – On 3 November 2024, at approximately 1:19pm, officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were advised of a Theft of gas from a business on Highway 102.

Officers located and stopped the vehicle, a black 2019 Ford Mustang GT. The driver provided false information of their identity. Investigation found the vehicle had been stolen from Winnipeg, Manitoba. A quantity of suspected controlled substance was also located in the vehicle.

D SINGH DAMANJEET, 30 of Winnipeg Manitoba is charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act 4(1).
  • HTA 32(1) Drive motor vehicle – no licence contrary to the Highway Traffic Act 4(1)
  • HTA 106(2) Driver – fail to properly wear seat belt contrary to the Highway Traffic Act 106(2)
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 contrary to the Criminal Code 354(1)(a)
  • Personation with Intent (Identity Fraud) contrary to the Criminal Code 403(1)
  • Theft Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code 334(b)

A SINGH KUSHWANT, 31 of Winnipeg Manitoba is charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act 4(1).

Sanket SINGLA, 21 of Winnipeg Manitoba is charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act 4(1).

All have been released to a future court date in Thunder Bay.

Sterling CHARD Was Arrested Again

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual has been charged with multiple offences, including drug trafficking, following a traffic stop in Simcoe.

At approximately 7:47 p.m. on Sunday, November 3, 2024, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment were on patrol they noticed a vehicle travelling on Talbot Street South in Simcoe, Norfolk County.

After stopping the vehicle on Court Street in Simcoe, Norfolk County, officers interacted with the driver, leading to the driver being taken into custody without incident.

While searching the driver and the vehicle, officers discovered and seized a quantity of suspected crack cocaine, heroin, and fentanyl.

36-year-old Sterling CHARD of Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Obstruct Peace Officer,
  • Fail to surrender licence,
  • Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle,
  • Fail to surrender insurance card,
  • Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit,
  • Failure to comply with Release Order – other than to attend court (two counts),
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine,
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – heroin,
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid (other than heroin).

The accused has been held in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.

Anthony MCCUTCHEON – Drunk Driving

(WELLINGTON NORTH TWP, ON) – Wellington County OPP received multiple traffic complaints which led to an individual from Brussels, ON being charged three times under the Criminal Code.

On November 4, 2024, just before 7:00 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were notified of a possible impaired driver on Wellington Road 109, within Wellington North Township.

As a result of the investigation, Anthony MCCUTCHEON, 27-year-old of Brussels, ON, was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with the following:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous Operation

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on November 22, 2024.

More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – Two individuals have been charged following investigations into separate impaired driving incidents.

At approximately 2:11 a.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2024, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment responded to a single-vehicle collision on Brantford Road in Windham, Norfolk County.

A vehicle travelling on Brantford Road reportedly veered off the road and into a ditch. No injuries were reported.

As a result, the driver was taken into custody without incident.

19-year-old Malcolm WILSON of Mono, Ontario, has been charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs,
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, December 10, 2024.

Around 12:03 a.m. on Sunday, November 3, 2024, Norfolk County OPP officers responded to a single-vehicle rollover on New Lakeshore Road in Port Dover, Norfolk County. No injuries were reported.

As a result, the driver was taken into custody without incident.

20-year-old Riley MCLEAN of Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs,
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus),
  • Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, November 19, 2024.

Kaley LEWIS – Theft

(DRYDEN, ON) – Members of the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged one individual with theft following an incident in the City of Dryden.

On November 4, 2024, at approximately 7:00 p.m. officers responded to a call for service at a local business in the City of Dryden.

As a result of the investigation, Kaley LEWIS, 46-year-old of Dryden has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences: 

·        Adult Theft Under $500 – Shoplifting

The accused has been held in custody and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice November 5, 2024.

Daniel Edward MOORE Was Arrested Again

(RENFREW, ON) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one person after receiving reports of a suspicious vehicle.

On November 5, 2024, at approximately 6:00 a.m., Renfrew OPP responded to Jennet Street in Renfrew.

Officers located the vehicle and determined that it had been reported stolen out of Ottawa earlier that day. One male was located sleeping in the back seat of the vehicle.

As a result of the investigation, Daniel Edward MOORE, age 47 of Renfrew, was charged with:

·      Failure to comply with probation order

·      Possession property obtained by crime over $5000

·      Take motor vehicle without consent

The accused was held for bail.

Repeat Offender Arrested Again

(RENFREW, ON) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two people after reports were received that an individual was breaching their court-ordered release conditions.

On November 4, 2024, at approximately 11:50 p.m., Renfrew OPP received a complaint from an assisting agency.

Police located and stopped a vehicle, and two people were taken into custody. Officers seized multiple items including a firearm.

As a result of the investigation, Brandon Alexander Donald SHARPE, age 28 of Renfrew, was charged with:

·      Possession of a firearm knowing serial number has been tampered with

·      Failure to comply with release order- other than to attend court, five counts

·      Failure to comply with prohibition order, two counts

·      Failure to comply with probation order, five counts

·      Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was firearm

·      Possess unmarked cigarettes

·      Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused was held for bail.

Shelley Anne BECHAMP-WILLIAMS, age 35 of Renfrew, was charged with:

·      Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was firearm

·      Possession unmarked cigarettes

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Pembroke Court of Justice on January 8, 2025.

Richard BAGOT – Impaired Operation

(DRYDEN, ON) – Members of the Ignace Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment have arrested and charged one individual with impaired operation.  

On November 2, 2024, at approximately 10:00 a.m. members of the Ignace OPP Detachment responded to an incident on Osaquan Road in the Township of Osaquan.

As a result of the investigation, it was determined that the driver of the motor vehicle had been impaired by alcohol/drug. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Dryden OPP Detachment for further testing.

Richard BAGOT, 50-years-old, of Winnipeg, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

·         Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·         

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Ignace on December 4, 2024.
