Henry JANZEN – Impaired Driving

(BAYHAM, ON) – The Elgin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), has charged an individual following a collision investigation.

On November 16, 2024, at approximately 10:25 p.m., the Elgin OPP responded to a single-vehicle collision involving a passenger vehicle on Light Line near Bogus Road in the Municipality of Bayham.

No serious injuries were reported.

The lone driver was taken into custody without incident and transported to the St. Thomas Detachment for further testing by a Drug Recognition Evaluator (DRE).

As a result, Henry JANZEN, a 42-year-old from Langton was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in St. Thomas on December 31, 2024.

Lionel BELISLE – Impaired Driving

(DRYDEN, ON) – Members of the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment have arrested and charged one individual with impaired operation.  

On November 15, 2024, at approximately 6:00 p.m. members of the Dryden OPP Detachment conducted a traffic stop at a local business in the City of Dryden.

As a result of the investigation, it was determined that the driver of the motor vehicle had been impaired by alcohol/drug. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Dryden OPP Detachment for further testing.

Lionel BELISLE, 59-years-old, of Winnipeg, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

·         Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·         Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden December 16, 2024.

Chris ELYK Was Arrested Again

(DRYDEN, ON) – Members of the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged one individual with failing to comply with their release order following an incident in the City of Dryden.

On November 16, 2024, at approximately 1:00 p.m. officers responded to an incident on Minnitaki Road, in the Township of Machin.

As a result of the investigation, Chris ELYK, 38-years-old has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:  

·        Failure to comply with release order-other than to attend court

The accused has been held in custody and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on November 18, 2024.

Alexander TEMPLAR Was Arrested Again

(ATIKOKAN, ON) – A weekend vehicle theft resulted in the arrest of one person who is now facing several charges.

On Saturday November 16, 2024, at approximately 6:00 pm, the Atikokan Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a 911 call that a pick-up truck was stolen from the Lone Pine area of Atikokan.

Vehicle tracking technology enabled officers to quickly locate the vehicle which was stopped in the Industrial Park area. One lone subject in the vehicle was immediately taken into custody by officers. Investigation revealed that the driver was obviously impaired, prohibited criminally and suspended from driving as well as on probation.

Alexander TEMPLAR, 26-years-old, from Atikokan is charged with the following offences:

  • Theft of motor vehicle
  • Operation while prohibited
  • Failure to comply with a demand
  • Fail to comply with probation
  • Fail to comply with peace bond
  • Assault police
  • Driving while under suspension.

The accused had a bail hearing and was remanded into custody. The next court appearance is scheduled for November 18, 2024, in Fort Frances.

Abdul MALIK – Drunk Driving

(PETERBOROUGH COUNTY, ON) – Officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual with impaired driving after stopping at a R.I.D.E. program.

On November 18, 2024, just prior to 12:30am, Peterborough County OPP Officers were conducting a R.I.D.E. program at County Road 4 and Television Road. A vehicle entered the R.I.D.E. program and an officer spoke with the driver. After a brief conversation with the driver, the officer determined they were under the influence of alcohol. The officer made a demand for the Approved Screening Device (ASD). The driver complied with the demand and provided a sample of their breath resulting in a Fail at which point they were arrested.

Abdul MALIK (age 48) of Otonabee-South Monaghan Township, ON., was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused had their drivers licence suspended for 90-days and their vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on December 17, 2024.

Jesse TREMBLEY – Drunk Driving

(MALAHIDE, ON) – The Elgin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) located and investigated a vehicle after a Good Samaritan reported a traffic complaint in the Township of Malahide.

On November 16, 2024, at approximately 12:05 a.m., members of the Elgin OPP, St. Thomas Detachment, located the subject vehicle on Talbot Line, near Hacienda Road, Township of Malahide.

As a result of the investigation, Jesse TREMBLEY, a 34-year-old from Aylmer was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in St. Thomas on December 31, 2024.

The OPP would like to take this opportunity to thank the individual who contacted police and reported this incident. As a direct result, officers were able to safely locate the vehicle and take the driver into custody.

Michael RUMOHR – Drunk Driving

(HAVELOCK-BELMONT-METHUEN TOWNSHIP, ON) – Officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual after observing a vehicle making an aggressive maneuver.

On November 15, 2024, just prior to 10:00pm, a Peterborough County OPP officer was stationary, observing traffic in Havelock. The officer observed a vehicle exit a parking lot in a manner which caused an approaching second vehicle to apply their brakes with force. The officer initiated a traffic stop on the first vehicle that had exited the parking lot. After a brief conversation with the driver, the officer determined they were under the influence of alcohol. The officer made a demand for the Approved Screening Device (ASD). The driver complied with the demand and provided a sample of their breath resulting in a Fail at which point they were arrested.

Michael RUMOHR (age 21) of Sarnia, ON, was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while impaired

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Fail to yield from Driveway

·      Novice Driver – B.A.C. above zero

·      Young Driver – B.A.C. above zero

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on December 17, 2024.

Armed Robbery – 2 Arrested

(ORILLIA, ON) – The Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged a male and female party in connection with a robbery investigation involving an e-bike.

On November 17, 2024, at 6:00 a.m., Orillia OPP responded to a downtown establishment for a report of a robbery where an unknown male had brandished a knife, assaulted the victim and stole his e-bike.

Officers canvassed the area and were able to identify the suspects.

Just after 2:00 p.m., officers located the two involved parties and placed them under arrest.

As a result of this investigation:

Amanda HUSTLER, 37-year-old of the City of Orillia has been charged with:

-Robbery with Weapon contrary to section 344(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC)

-Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 CC 354(1)(a)

Christopher DRAPER, 40-year-old of the City of Orillia has been charged with:

-Robbery with Weapon contrary to section 344(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC)

-Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 CC 354(1)(a)

-Failure to comply with release order CC 145(5)(a)

-Fail to comply with Probation Order CC 733.1(1)

-Uttering Threats- cause death or bodily harm CC 264.1(1)(a)

-Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose CC 88

Both parties were held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Andrea TRAMONTI – Drunk Driving

(ORILLIA, ON) – Members of the Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called after an early evening collision on Coopers Falls Road in Severn Township, ON.

On November 15, 2024, at approximately 5:30 p.m., officers from the Orillia detachment of the OPP along with the Simcoe County Paramedic Services and Severn Township Fire were alerted to a vehicle in the ditch on Coopers Falls Road, in the Township of Severn. One individual and an 11-year-old child were in the vehicle when it left the roadway. No injuries were reported.

As a result, Andrea TRAMONTI; 43-year-old, from Uxbridge has been subsequently charged with:

  • Operation while impaired by alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – 80 plus

Richard STANLEY – Drunk Driving

(GREATER NAPANEE, ON) – Lennox and Addington County members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) 

have charged two people with impaired driving in separate incidents over the weekend.

On Saturday, November 16, 2024, shortly after 5:00 p.m., L&A County OPP were called by a community 

member regarding a vehicle that had failed to stop at multiple stop signs and was travelling at 

high rates of speed before it entered the drive-thru of a local business.

Police attended and following an investigation, Obaidullah YOUSOFI, a 31-year-old male from Toronto 

was charged with:

• Operation while impaired – alcohol

• Operation while impaired – over 80mgs of alcohol

On Sunday, November 17, 2024, just before 7:00 p.m., L&A County OPP were called to the scene of a 

two-vehicle collision on County Road 41 in Greater Napanee. No one was injured in the crash.

Following an investigation, Richard STANLEY, a 38-year-old male from Roblin was charged with:

• Operation while impaired – alcohol

• Operation while impaired – over 80mgs of alcohol

• Careless driving

Both of the accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of 

Justice in Greater Napanee on December 12, 2024. Their driver’s licences were suspended for 90 

days, and their vehicles were impounded.

Mitchell MORGAN – Impaired Driving

(ESSA, ON) – The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver for driving while impaired in the Township of Essa.

On November 16, 2024, just before 11:30 p.m., Nottawasaga OPP responded to an traffic complaint of an abandoned motor vehicle running in the ditch around 30th Sideroad in the Township of Essa. Upon arrival, one male was located inside the motor vehicle asleep behind the wheel.

As a result of the investigation, Mitchell MORGAN, 19, of Owen Sound, was charged with:  

• Adult Operation while Impaired- alcohol and drugs

• Operation while impaired – blood drug concentration

In addition to the charges, the driver was issued a 90-day license suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. 

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Bradford on December 12, 2024, to answer to the charges.

Daniel PLAATJES – Impaired Driving

(PARRY SOUND, ON) – The West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a single vehicle collision in Parry Sound. 

On November 16, 2024, at approximately 6:00 p.m., the West Parry Sound OPP, Parry Sound Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Parry Sound Fire Department responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Parry Sound Drive in the Town of Parry Sound. The driver was transported to a Parry Sound area hospital due to injuries.

As a result of the investigation, Daniel PLAATJES, 45 years-of-age, of Innisfil Ontario was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle

The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on December 19th, 2024.

2 More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two drivers with impaired operation within an hour.

On November 16, 2024, just after 8:00 p.m., an officer on patrol located a two-vehicle collision on Mayfield Road, near Kennedy Road. No injuries were sustained. During the investigation, grounds were formed that one of the drivers’ ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested.

Harpreet MULTANI, 22, of Brampton, was charged with:

• Operation while impaired – alcohol

• Dangerous operation

• Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero

Shortly after on the same day, just before 9:00 p.m., officers responded to a traffic complaint on Innis Lake Road. The vehicle was located. The investigation led officers to arrest the driver.

Jennifer PERLOV, 43, of Caledon, was charged with:

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

Both accused are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville at a later date to answer to their charges. The driver’s licences were also suspended for 90 days, and the vehicles were impounded for seven.

Under Ontario’s zero tolerance law for young, novice and commercial drivers, you cannot have any alcohol in your system if you are:

• age 21 or under

• a driver of any age who holds a G1, G2, M1, or M2 licence

• driving a vehicle that requires an A-F driver’s licence or Commercial Vehicle Operator’s Registration (CVOR)

• driving a road-building machine

Bryan FOX – Drunk Driving

(MIDLAND, ON)  An individual is facing impaired charges after driving a vehicle across the grass at an OPP detachment in Midland last night.

On November 16, 2024 at about 9:30pm, members of the Southern Georgian Bay detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police(OPP) while on patrol, were passing the Highway 12 office, when they observed a full size pickup truck attempting to negotiate a route from a nearby hotel, across the lawns of the detachment as well as the neighboring car dealership. (see photo) The officers stopped the vehicle and spoke with the lone occupant who displayed strong signs of alcohol consumption. The individual was placed under arrest and was ushered inside the detachment to provide a breath sample. The results registered several times above the legal limit.

As a result of this investigation, Bryan FOX, 31 years of Parry Sound District, was charged with several Highway Traffic Act offences as well as the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Operation While Impaired
  • Operation Over 80 Milligrams

The accused was released to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on November 28, 2024. When charged with impaired driving, the driver’s license of the accused is suspended for 90 days and the vehicle they were operating is impounded for 7 days.

Violent Home Invasion

(LEAMINGTON, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Essex County Detachment is investigating a home invasion in the Municipality of Leamington.

On November 16, 2024, at approximately 5:18 a.m., members of the Essex County OPP responded to a report of a home invasion at a residence on Robson Road in the Municipality of Leamington.

It was reported that two unknown individuals entered the residence and confronted two occupants within the residence. Both occupants suffered minor injuries as a result of an altercation with the unknown persons.

Following the incident, the two suspects fled the scene in a vehicle.

Investigators believe this to be a targeted incident and there is no threat to public safety.

The investigation is continuing.

The Essex County Crime Unit is continuing to investigate and is asking that anyone with any information regarding this incident please contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or, if you wish to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) where you may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
