Justin QUENNEVILLE – Drunk Driving, Etc.

(SUDBURY, ON) – Police arrested and charged one person with impaired driving offences, after a Good Samaritan reported a possible impaired driver.

On November 30, 2024, at approximately 9:25 p.m., members from the Nipissing West (Sudbury) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a possible impaired driver, travelling north on Highway 69, towards Sudbury.

The vehicle was located by police, traveling over 30 kilometres an hour over the posted speed limit, which was stopped. The driver was arrested for impaired driving, then transported to Greater Sudbury Police Service for further testing. A search of the vehicle located open liquor.

Justin QUENNEVILLE, 37 years-of-age, from Sudbury, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Speeding 1 – 49 Km/h over posted limit
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on January 8, 2025, in Sudbury.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Gregory MAMAGEESIC – Drunk Driving

(DRYDEN, ON) – Members of the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment have arrested and charged one individual with impaired operation.  

On December 1, 2024, at approximately 3:00 p.m. members of the Dryden OPP Detachment responded to an incident at a local business, in the City of Dryden.

As a result of the investigation, it was determined that the driver of the motor vehicle had been impaired by alcohol/drug. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Dryden OPP Detachment for further testing.

Gregory MAMAGEESIC, 56-years-old, of Sandy Lake, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

·         Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·         Operation while impaired-blook alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·         Driving vehicle with open container of liquor

·         Dangerous operation

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden on January 13, 2024.

Devon MCLEOD – Drunk Driving

(SOUTHWOLD, ON) – The Elgin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), has charged an individual following a collision investigation.

On December 2, 2024, at approximately 2:30 a.m., the Elgin OPP responded to a single-vehicle collision involving a passenger vehicle on Ferguson Line near Wonderland Road in the Township of Southwold.

The lone occupant was transported to a local hospital by Elgin – St. Thomas Emergency Medical Services (EMS). No serious injuries were reported.

As a result of the investigation, Devon MCLEOD, a 46-year-old from Chatham was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in St. Thomas on January 21, 2025.

Varchas SRIRANGAM – Hit & Run, Drunk Driving

(TINY TOWNSHIP, ON) – While travelling along Champlain Road in Tiny Township on Sunday December 1, 2024, at approximately 2:51 a.m. a community member came upon a single vehicle crash of a Tesla into a utility pole at the intersection of the 17th Concession Road.

A call was placed to the OPP Communication Centre, and officers from Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended to investigate. The lone occupant was located and upon speaking with the uninjured driver, an impaired driving investigation was commenced by the officers.

As a result, Varchas SRIRANGAM 37 years of Tiny Township has been charged criminally in connection to this investigation with the following offences.

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

And further with the Provincial Offences of

  • Fail to remain
  • Fail to report accident

The accused was released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice  on the December 19, 2024, and was served a 90 day drivers licence suspension. The involved Tesla was towed and is the subject of a 7 day vehicle impound in accordance to the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.

Since the Festive R.I.D.E kick off on November 21, 2024, officers have conducted the R.I.D.E. program at fifty five separate locations stopped over 746 vehicles checking their drivers for signs of impairment.

Scott BARBISON – Drunk Driving

(PUSLINCH TWP, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrest a Guelph resident with two criminal charges stemming from a two-motor vehicle collision.

On November 29, 2024, at approximately 6:00 p.m., members from the Wellington County OPP attended the scene of a two-motor vehicle collision on Badenoch Street East within Morriston.

As a result of the investigation, Scott BARBISON, 38-year-old of Guelph was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

There were no injuries as a result of the collision.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on December 10, 2024.

Corey LLEWELLYN Was Arrested

(PLYMPTON-WYOMING, ON) – On November 29, 2024, at approximately 10:50 p.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a two-vehicle collision on Broadway Street in the Town of Wyoming.

As a result of the investigation, Corey LLEWELLYN, 33-year-old of Enniskillen Township, was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous operation

There were no injuries reported as a result of the collision.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Sarnia on January 14, 2025, to speak to the charges.

Brant OPP Weekend Update

(PARIS, ON) – A 28-year-old from the County of Brant was arrested after Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Brant County Detachment members responded to a call for a person sleeping behind the wheel of a car at a construction site.

On Thursday November 28, 2024, at approximately 11:00 a.m., Brant County OPP responded to a report of an unresponsive person in a vehicle on Silver Street in Paris. One person was arrested and transported to the Brant County detachment for testing.

Police have charged 28-year-old Marissa MORSCHAUSER of the County of Brant with the following offence:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford, Ontario on December 13, 2024.

INVESTIGATION RESULTS IN IMPAIRED CHARGES

(GLEN MORRIS, ON) – An individual has been charged following an investigation into an impaired driving incident in Glen Morris.

At approximately 11:06 p.m. on Friday, November 29, 2024, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Brant County Detachment responded to an address on East River Road in the County of Brant.

As a result, one person was taken into custody without incident.

Charged with the following offences is 30-year-old Kelsey MANTIE of Middlesex County:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs,

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus),

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford, Ontario on December 13, 2024.

INDIVIDUAL CHARGED FOLLOWING INTIMATE PARTNER VIOLENCE INVESTIGATION

(BRANT COUNTY, ON) – On November 29, 2024, at approximately 8:19 p.m., the Brant County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an address in the County of Brant, to a reported assault involving intimate partners.

As a result of the investigation, a 48-year-old from Brant County has been charged with the following offences:

·        Assault

·        Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused was held in custody to appear at a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford, Ontario.

IMPAIRED DRIVER CHARGED AFTER CONCERNED CITIZEN REPORTS TRAFFIC COMPLAINT

(PARIS, ON) A 50-year-old from Brant County was arrested after Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Brant County Detachment members responded to a traffic complaint Saturday evening in the County of Brant.

On Saturday November 30, 2024, at approximately 8:03 p.m., Brant County OPP responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 24 in the County of Brant. The caller observed driving behaviour that caused them to be concerned and contacted police. Police located the vehicle where one person was arrested and transported to Brant County OPP detachment for testing.

Police have charged 50-year-old Maurice BARNES, from the County of Brant with the following offences:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Dangerous Operation

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford, Ontario on December 12, 2024.

INTIMATE PARTNER INVESTIGATION RESULTS IN CHARGE

(BRANT COUNTY, ON) – On Sunday December 1, 2024, at approximately 3:00 p.m., Brant County OPP were dispatched to an address in the County of Brant to a report of an assault-in-progress. The investigation determined that an interaction occurred within a residence and one person was assaulted. No injuries were reported.

As a result, a 36-year-old was charged with the following offences:

·      Assault – Spousal

The accused has been released from custody and is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford, Ontario at a later date.

3 More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – Officers from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged three individuals with impaired in unrelated incidents this weekend.

On November 30, 2024, at approximately 9:00 a.m., police responded to a report from Emergency Medical Services (EMS) regarding a driver who appeared to be experiencing medical issues on the side of County Road 45 in the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand.

Officers arrived and were led into an impaired operation investigation where an Approved Screening Device (ASD) demand was made. The driver complied and provided a sample of their breath resulting in a ‘Fail’ at which point they were arrested.

Keri SINE (age 49) from Norwood, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

–      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

–      Driver vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available.

On December 1, 2024, at approximately 10:30 a.m., EMS and police responded to a motor vehicle collision involving two passenger vehicles on Highway 401 eastbound in the Municipality of Port Hope.

Officers arrived on scene where two occupants of one vehicle had sustained non-life threatening, non-life altering injuries. The driver of the other vehicle was uninjured, and police made a Mandatory Alcohol Screening (MAS) demand. With the result, the accused was arrested and transported to a local police station for further tests. There were no other injuries reported.

As a result, Paras KHAJURIA (age 30) from Lachine, Quebec, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

–      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

–      Dangerous operation.

On December 1, 2024, at around 6:50 p.m., OPP were on patrol on County Road 25, in the Township of Cramahe, when a passing motorist drew the attention of police to another driver who had parked on the Highway 401 off ramp and was walking down to the ditch.

Police spoke to the driver of the parked vehicle and began an impaired operation investigation. An ASD demand was made and the individual complied by providing a sample of their breath. With the result, the accused was arrested and transported to a local detachment for further tests.

Afron MIFTARI (age 30) from Toronto, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

In addition to a future court date for each driver, a further 90-day Administrative Driver Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impound was initiated as per statute.

Our members would like to recognize and thank members of the public who continue to report suspected impaired drivers. Many of these drivers are caught because of concerned citizens being conscious of irregular or erratic driving behaviours that continue to put other motorists at risk.

Impaired Drivers Arrested

(CLARENCE – ROCKLAND & RUSSELL TWP, ON) – Members of the Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested two motorists for impaired driving.

On November 30, 2024, at approximately 10:55 p.m., officers responded to a call reporting that a vehicle had just jumped a curb in the roundabout at St-Guillaume Road and Burton Road. A second call reported that the same vehicle had just clipped another vehicle and kept driving. 

Officers stopped the vehicle shortly after on Highway 417. During the investigation an Approved Screening Device (ASD) was used, and the driver failed. The driver was transported to detachment for testing and failed.

As a result of the investigation, 55-year-old, Sylvain Dault, of Cornwall, Ontario, was charged under the Criminal Code (CC) and the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) CC
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol CC
  • Fail to remain at scene of a collision HTA
  • Fail to report an accident HTA

The motorist received a 90-day driver’s licence suspension, and their vehicle was impounded for seven days. They are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on January 15, 2024.

Once again, on November 30, 2024, shortly after 11:15 p.m., officers in Clarence – Rockland initiated an impaired driving investigation after a motorist failed to stop for a stop sign and struck a tree. During the investigation an Approved Screening Device (ASD) was used, and the driver failed.

The driver was arrested for impaired driving and brought to detachment for further testing. The driver passed subsequent testing, avoiding a Criminal Code operation while impaired charge, but was still within the provincial warning range.

As a result of the investigation, a 59-year-old, from Ottawa, Ontario, had their driver’s licence suspended for 3 days and was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:

  • Careless Driving

Motorist and residents are encouraged to call 911 when they see someone they believe may be driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs.

More Drunk Drivers Arrested

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – Two individuals have been charged following investigations into separate impaired driving incidents.

At approximately 8:51 p.m. on Thursday, November 28, 2024, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment responded to and investigated a single-vehicle collision on Villa Nova Road in Townsend, Norfolk County.

The investigation revealed that a sedan was travelling on Villa Nova Road when it left the roadway and entered a ditch. No injuries were reported.

After conducting a sobriety assessment at the scene, officers took the driver into custody without incident.

30-year-old Koreen FOSTER from Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus),
  • Dangerous operation.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, December 17, 2024.

Around 8:09 p.m. on Sunday, December 1, 2024, Norfolk County OPP officers responded to and investigated a report of a potential traffic hazard on Norfolk Street North in Simcoe, Norfolk County.

After interacting with the driver of a vehicle found in the area, officers took the individual into custody without incident.

38-year-old Ryan MONEY from Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus),
  • Fail to surrender licence,
  • Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle,
  • Fail to surrender insurance card,
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor,
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available,
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis in open original packaging.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, December 24, 2024.

Fatal Collision

(ASPHODEL-NORWOOD TOWNSHIP, ON) – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and emergency crews responded to the scene of a two-vehicle motor vehicle collision that occurred on County Road 38 at Dummer Asphodel Road, resulting in one fatality.

Just prior to 3:30pm on December 1, 2024, Peterborough County OPP received a call reporting a serious two-vehicle collision on County Road 38 and Dummer Asphodel Road. Upon arrival, officers observed both vehicles in the north ditch. Fire department was already on scene and were working on extricating the female driver and male passenger from a black SUV. A white pickup truck with a lone driver was also in the ditch.

Witnesses advised that the pickup truck was travelling southbound on County Road 38 and as they were approaching Dummer Asphodel Road, a black SUV traveling westbound, failed to stop for the stop sign resulting in the vehicles colliding.

A 69-year-old male was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced as deceased.

The driver of the black SUV was transported to a local hospital but was later taken by ORNGE Air to a Toronto trauma centre..

The driver of the pickup truck suffered minor injuries.

Roads remained closed for several hours while emergency crews dealt with the collision and police members trained in collision reconstruction, measured and documented the scene.

Tasha HEALEY Was Arrested Again – Assault, Etc.

(TWEED, ON) – A Tweed resident is facing charges after a family was threatened.

On Saturday, November 30, 2024, just before 5:00 p.m., members of Central Hastings Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an incident in the Municipality of Tweed. A couple and their infant child were walking to their vehicle when they were confronted by a woman holding a hammer, who then made threats against them.

The family fled to safety and the woman also left the scene.

Then, around 1:00 a.m. on Sunday December 1, 2024, officers located an individual in Tweed banging on multiple residential doors with a hammer.

As a result of the investigation, Tasha HEALEY, age 40, has been charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Utter threats to cause death or bodily harm
  • Fail to comply with a probation order – two counts

The accused was held for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on December 2, 2024.

Dallas SNOW – First Degree Murder

(MAGNETAWAN, ON) – The Almaguin Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has made an arrest in relation to a recent homicide investigation.

On November 21, 2024, police located a deceased person in the area of Kirkpatrick’s Road and Highway 124. The person was later identified as 34-year-old Preston DAULTREY of North Bay, and the death was deemed a homicide.

The Almaguin Highlands OPP Crime Unit has continued its investigation under

the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, and with assistance from the OPP Forensic Identification Services, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

As a result of the investigation, Dallas SNOW, 32-years-old of Emsdale, has been arrested and charged with – First Degree Murder, contrary to section 235(1) of the Criminal Code.

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on December 2, 2024.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into a drug trafficking investigation following an interaction at a RIDE program.

Officers were conducting a RIDE program on Highway 35 near Golf Course Road on December 2nd, 2024 at approximately 2:35 am when a motor vehicle entered the RIDE stop and following an interaction with the driver and four occupants the officers entered into a drug trafficking investigation.  Through investigation the driver and all four passengers were arrested and charged with Criminal Code, Controlled Drug and Substances Act, Highway Traffic Act, Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act and Liquor License Act offences.

Jamie Adams, 34-year-old of Lindsay, was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Drive Motor Vehicle with Liquor Readily Available
  • Fail to Surrender Insurance Card
  • Fail to Surrender Permit for Motor Vehicle

Ronnie Escott, 30-year-old of Lindsay was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition

Daniel POLAKOVIC – Drunk Driving

(LAMBTON SHORES, ON) – On November 29, 2024, just after 1:20 p.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a single-vehicle collision on Haig Line at Blain Road, Lambton Shores.

As a result of the investigation, Daniel POLAKOVIC, 43-year-old of London, was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The driver was uninjured.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice – Sarnia on January 15, 2025, to speak to the charges.
