Emily Johnston – Drunk Driving

(HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, ON) – On Monday January 20, 2025, at approximately 12:15 am, members from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single vehicle collision on Dale Road east of County Road 45.

A grey pick-up truck was travelling westbound when it left the roadway into the south ditch where it hit a tree causing minor injuries to the driver. While officers were investigating the collision, a second vehicle arrived on scene where the driver claimed to know the driver of the pick-up truck that was involved in the collision. Upon speaking with the operator of the second vehicle, police suspected the driver had been consuming alcohol. The officer administered a roadside screening device test and the operator registered a ‘fail’. The individual was taken into custody and taken to a nearby police station where further testing was conducted which resulted in the driver registering over three times the legal limit.

As a result Emily Johnston, (age 35) from Hamilton Township has been charged with:

  • Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on a date in March, 2025. In addition to the future court date for the accused, a further 90-day Administrative Driver Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impound was initiated as per statute.

The OPP remind the public not to drive when planning to consume alcohol or drugs.

Kurtis ROGGIE – Drunk Driving

(PEMBROKE, ON) – An early morning traffic stop has resulted in a Criminal Code (CC) impaired driving charge for a Laurentian Valley Township resident. 

On January 17, 2025, at approximately 1:50 a.m., officers from the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Trafalgar Road in the City of Pembroke. As part of the investigation a Roadside Screening Device was utilized, and the driver was transported to the detachment for further testing.   

As a result of this investigation 47-year-old Kurtis ROGGIE has been charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) offence:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80mg plus

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. The accused was released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on February 18, 2025.

Violent Robbery – 3 Arrested

(QUINTE WEST, ON) – The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged three people in connection with a robbery.

On Monday, January 13, 2025, members of Quinte West OPP responded to an incident on Adrian Court, in the City of Quinte West. It was determined that three people took a taxi from an address in Belleville to a location on Adrian Court. The taxi driver was assaulted, and the taxi fare was stolen. 

Quinte West OPP, with the assistance of the Crime Unit, was able to identify the three suspects.

On Friday, January 17, 2025, the Belleville Police Service located and arrested the individuals. Brandon WASE, aged 33, Kenneth FELKER, aged 40, and Christopher GRAY, aged 31, all from the Quinte area, have been charged with one count of robbery with violence. WASE and FELKER also have been charged with one count each of failing to comply with probation order. 

The accused were held in custody for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville.

Joseph SHANE Was Arrested

(ST. CLAIR TOWNSHIP, ON) – On January 14, 2025, just after 1:30 a.m., a member of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting patrols along St. Clair Parkway, south of Riverbend Drive, St. Clair Township. Police attempted to stop a vehicle to which the driver failed to comply and fled from police.

After further investigation, police were able to identity the driver of the involved vehicle.

As a result, on January 18, 2025, Joseph SHANE, 32-year-old of Sombra, was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with the following offence:

  • Flight from Peace Officer

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in the City of Sarnia on March 27, 2025.

More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – Two individuals have been charged following investigations into separate impaired driving incidents.

At approximately 6:39 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2025, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment, along with Norfolk County Paramedic Services, responded to a single-vehicle collision on Little Lake Road in Windham, Norfolk County.

It was determined that a sedan was travelling on Little Lake Road when it left the roadway and collided with a house. No injuries were reported.

Officers located the driver at the scene and, after conducting a sobriety assessment, took them into custody without incident.

44-year-old Ryan JONES from Oxford County has been charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus),
  • Dangerous operation,
  • Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available,
  • Fail to surrender insurance card.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, January 28, 2025.

Around 9:59 p.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2025, Norfolk County OPP officers responded to a 9-1-1 call regarding a suspected impaired driver on Blueline Road in Woodhouse, Norfolk County.

It was determined that a sedan was travelling on Blueline Road when veered off the roadway and struck a guardrail. No injuries were reported.

Officers later located the vehicle on Highway 6 in the Woodhouse area and took the driver into custody without incident.

27-year-old Daniel FEERE from Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs,
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus),
  • Fail to remain,
  • Having care or control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.

YATES – Drunk Driving

(ASPHODEL-NORWOOD TOWNSHIP, ON) – Officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call for a disturbance that led to the driver of a vehicle being charged with impaired driving.

On January 20, 2025, just prior to 1:00am, Peterborough County OPP received a report of a disturbance outside a residence in the Township of Asphodel-Norwood. Officers, while on route, were updated that one of the parties involved in the disturbance had left in a vehicle. Officers located the vehicle based on a description that was provided by the complainant and conducted a traffic stop.

Officers approached the vehicle and spoke with the driver. Upon speaking with the driver, officers noted signs of impairment at which point an arrest was made. The driver was transported to the Peterborough County OPP detachment for further testing.

Joshua YATES (age 44) of Peterborough, ON, was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while impaired

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on February 18, 2025.

Meth Bust – Stolen Vehicles Recovered

(EDWARDSBURG CARDINAL, ON) -A routine traffic stop involving a tractor trailer on Highway 401, near the Highway 416 interchange, has resulted in the recovery of two stolen vehicles.

An officer with the Ministry of Transportation stopped a transport on Friday, January 17, 2025, around 9:00 a.m. Members of the Grenville Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called in after two vehicles were located in the sea container that was on the trailer.

Officers confirmed that the Toyota Highlander and Dodge Ram in the container had been stolen from the Toronto and Peterborough areas. They also seized a quantity of suspected methamphetamine.

The truck driver was arrested at the scene.

Prem Parkash SINGH, age 26 of Georgetown, Ontario has been charged with:

  •  Possession of property obtained by crime-over $5000 – two counts
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance

The accused was released from custody with a scheduled appearance before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville on February 21, 2025.

The investigation into the stolen vehicles is continuing.

School Bus Collision – Serious Injuries

(SUDBURY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have opened the highway in both directions.

On January 20, 2025, shortly before 8:30 a.m., members from the Nipissing West (Sudbury) Detachment of the OPP, Fire Services and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a collision in the north bound lane of Highway 69, Sudbury.

The driver and 12 students were on the bus at the time of the collision. Eight people were transported to the local hospital by EMS – five students as a precaution, two students received serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, while the bus driver received serious life-threatening injuries.

There were no reported injuries to the other students or the driver of the CMV.

The investigation is still ongoing with the OPP Collision Reconstructionist, and members of the Traffic Collision Investigation Team who are assisting the Nipissing West OPP officers to determine the cause of the collision.

Darren DEW – Drunk Driving

(BROOKE-ALVINSTON, ON) – On January 19, 2025, just before 1:00 a.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Nauvoo Road, south of Watford.

As a result of the investigation, Darren DEW, 44-year-old of Alvinston was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Dangerous operation

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on February 17, 2025, in the City of Sarnia.

68 Year Old Drunk Driver Arrested

(SOUTH RIVER, ON) -One person was arrested and charged for impaired driving after the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop.

On January 17, 2025, at approximately 9:30 p.m., the Almaguin Highlands Detachment of the OPP conducted a traffic stop on Ottawa Avenue in the Village of South River.  

As a result of the investigation, Judith PATON, 68 years-of-age, of South River, was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Failure to comply with release order – two counts

The accused appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Parry Sound and was remanded into custody.

James Stapley Was Arrested – Details Released

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) -On January 19, 2025, at approximately 1:30 a.m., officers of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call for service in Woodville. Upon arrival, the officers located the suspect, asleep in his vehicle with the engine running and the window partially down.

After waking the individual and engaging in a brief conversation, officers initiated an investigation into impaired driving.

As a result of the investigation, 37-year-old, James Stapley, the suspect, was arrested and subsequently charged with

–      Operation while impaired

–      Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration

–      Having care or control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The suspect was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay. In accordance with impaired driving laws, their driver’s license has been suspended for 90 days, and their vehicle has been impounded for seven days.

Matthew Carter – Drunk Driving

(BRANT, ON) – On Saturday, January 18, 2025, at approximately 1:02 a.m., an officer with the Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop in Paris after observing a vehicle commit a traffic violation at the intersection of Mechanic Street and Grand River Street North.

Upon interacting with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment. A roadside screening test was conducted, and the driver registered a failure. The driver was arrested and transported for further testing, which confirmed blood alcohol concentrations over the legal limit.

As a result, Matthew Carter, 32, of Brant County, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused’s vehicle was impounded for seven days, and his driver’s licence was immediately suspended for 90 days under the Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) program.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on January 30, 2025.

24 Year Old Arrested After Rolling Over

(BRANT, ON) – On Sunday, January 19, 2025, at approximately 4:05 a.m., the Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision on Highway 403 near Bishop’s Gate. The vehicle was reported to have rolled into the ditch while travelling eastbound.

Officers patrolled the area and located an overturned vehicle in the eastbound ditch at approximately 4:16 a.m. A male pedestrian was observed walking along the highway and identified himself as the driver of the vehicle.

Further investigation led officers to form reasonable grounds to believe the driver was impaired by alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to the Brant OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result, Michael Boyle, 24, of Brant County, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation While Impaired

In addition to the charge, the driver’s vehicle was impounded for seven days, and his driver’s licence was immediately suspended for 90 days under the Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) program.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Brantford Court of Justice in February at a later date.

26 Year Old Arrested For Assault #WaitInTheTruck

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On January 17, 2025, the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an address in South Bruce Peninsula and initiated an intimate partner violence investigation.

As a result of the investigation, OPP learned that one individual had allegedly committed a criminal act against their partner. 

A 26-year-old of South Bruce Peninsula was charged with:

·      Assault – Spousal

The accused party will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.

The OPP will not release names to protect the identity of the victims.

Drunk Driver Arrested For Driving Through Collision Scene

(OTTAWA, ON) – Members of the Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual from Ottawa with Impaired Driving.

Shortly before 11:00 p.m. on January 19, OPP were attending to a collision on Highway 417 near Moodie Drive. All lanes had been shut down eastbound, (except for the HOV lane which had been kept open to allow for traffic flow), to allow emergency services to attend to the involved drivers. This also included Ottawa Fire Services and Ottawa Paramedic Services. The driver drove through the collision scene before being stopped by police.

Marc BECK, 56 years of age faces the following charges:

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)

Beck is scheduled to appear in an Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.
