Sinh DANG Was Arrested

(ESSA, ON) – The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged one driver for refusing to comply with a breath demand over the Easter long weekend in Essa Township.

On April 20, 2025, shortly after 1:30 a.m., Nottawasaga OPP responded to a traffic tip of a possible impaired driver heading towards Essa, last seen getting into a vehicle in Innisfil.

At 1:55 a.m. officers was able to locate the vehicle on Banting Crescent in Angus. Upon initial interaction, the drivers eyes were red and glossy. The driver was having difficulties answering the officers questions and following normal conversation. The officer had suspicion of impairment by an alcoholic beverage, issuing an Approved Screening Device demand (ASD). Subsequently the driver refused.

The driver: Sinh DANG, 42 years-old, of Essa, was arrested and charge with:  

  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand

In addition to the charges, the driver was issued a 90-day license suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. 

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Bradford on May 22, 2025, to answer to the charges.

The OPP remind motorists that no amount of alcohol or drug is acceptable to consume and drive. Failing or refusing to comply with a breath demand whether for an Approved Screening Device (ASD) or an intoxilyzer at the police station carries the same legal consequences as an impaired driving charge under the Criminal Code of Canada.

Aryan SHARMA Was Arrested

(MARATHON, ON) – The Marathon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one person after failing to stop for police as a result of a traffic stop on Highway 17 in Laberge Township.

On April 20, 2025 at 11:30 a.m., officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a motor vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 17. The vehicle fled at an extremely high speed. In the interest of public safety, the officers did not engage in a pursuit. Police made attempts to spike belt the vehicle, however were unsuccessful.

The vehicle and driver were located a short distance away, and as a result of the investigation, the driver was arrested.

Aryan SHARMA, 22-years-old of Winnipeg, Manitoba, was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act with:

·      Flight from peace officer – three counts

·      Dangerous operation – two counts

·      Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt

·      Speeding

Further to this, the accused had his driver’s licence suspended for 30 days, and vehicle impounded for 14 days.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on the 25th of June 2025.

19 Year Old Facing Money Laundering & Fraud Charges

(PERTH EAST, ON) – One person has been charged in relation to a fraud investigation in the Township of Perth East.

On October 7th, 2024, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) launched an investigation after receiving information that a business in the Township of Perth East was defrauded of nearly $5,000 through the use of fraudulent cheques.

As a result of the investigation, 19-year-old Tiffany ZHOU of Markham, ON was charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada offences:

–      Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

–      Laundering Proceeds of Crime

ZHOU is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on May 26th, 2025.

Melissa TURCOTTE Was Arrested Again #3Strikes

(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON) – A local individual is facing multiple criminal charges after a report of a stolen taxi led to an impaired driving arrest in Kirkland Lake.

On Monday March 3, 2025, at approximately 3:30 p.m., the Kirkland Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a stolen taxi in the area of Government Road West in the Town of Kirkland Lake.

Officers quickly located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The driver failed to comply with police commands and was arrested at the scene. Further investigation determined that the driver was impaired by a substance. The individual was transported to the Kirkland Lake OPP detachment for a drug recognition evaluation by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE).

As a result of the investigation, Melissa TURCOTTE, a 37-year-old from Kirkland Lake, has been arrested and charged with the following:

·     Theft under $5,000 of a motor vehicle

·     Dangerous operation

·     Failure to stop after accident

·     Resist peace officer

·     Operation while impaired – drugs

·     Fail to comply with probation order – two counts

·     Driving while under suspension – two counts

The accused was remanded into custody and is next scheduled to appear before the Kirkland Lake Ontario Court of Justice on May 15, 2025.

2 Arrested For Break & Enter

(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON) – The report of a break and enter has resulted in multiple charges for two Kirkland Lake residents.  

On Friday April 4, 2025, at approximately 1:30 p.m., the Kirkland Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a break and enter on Highway 66, in the Township of Larder Lake. The residence of a senior had been unoccupied at the time of the break and enter, over $25,000 of household items had been stolen and many items have since been recovered.

As a result of the investigation, Stephanie WINCIKABY, a 45-year-old of Kirkland Lake was arrested and charged for the following:

·      Break, enter a place – commit indictable offence

·      Mischief over $5,000

·      Theft under $5,000

·      Possession property obtained by crime under $5,000

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake on May 15, 2025.

Additionally, Richard MCDONALD, a 47-year-old of Kirkland Lake was arrested and charged for the following:

·      Break, enter a place – commit indictable offence

·      Mischief over $5,000

·      Theft under $5,000

·      Possession property obtained by crime under $5,000

The accused was released from a bail hearing and is scheduled to next appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake on May 15, 2025.

Steven POWER Arrested Following Collision

(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON) – A motor vehicle collision leads to impaired charge for one Toronto resident.

On Sunday March 30,2025, at approximately 6:50 p.m. the Kirkland Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a two-vehicle motor vehicle collision on Wright Hargreaves Avenue, in the Town of Kirkland Lake. The subject motor vehicle had backed into a parked vehicle. Upon speaking with the driver officers determined the individual had consumed an alcoholic beverage. Officers demanded the driver provide a sample of breath into an Approved Screening Device (ASD). The driver refused to provide a sample, the driver was then arrested and taken to a local hospital for monitoring and treatment of minor injuries.  

As a result of the investigation, Steven POWER, a 44-year-old from Toronto, has been charged with:

·      Operation while impaired by alcohol

·      Failure or refusal to comply with demand

The accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment. The accused was released from custody and is next scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake on May 15, 2025.

Drivers are reminded that no amount of alcohol or drugs in your system is safe when driving. Fatal Pedestrian Collision

(BRIGHTON, ON) – Officers from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a fatal collision between a train and a pedestrian.

On April 22, 2025, shortly before 2:00 p.m., officers and emergency crews responded to a collision between a train and a pedestrian on Ontario Street, near Monck Street, in the Municipality of Brighton. The pedestrian, an adult male, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Ontario Street between Monck Street and Butler Street was closed for several hours while the OPP Forensic Identification Services, and the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service, assisted with the investigation. The road reopened just after 5:00 p.m.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information, including dashcam footage, is asked to contact the Northumberland OPP Crime Unit at 1-888-310-1122.

Brier & Brody EDWARDS Were Arrested

(SIOUX LOOKOUT, ON) – Officers from the Sioux Lookout Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with support from the Dryden OPP CSCU, Northwest Region (NWR) Emergency Response Team, NWR Canine Unit, and Sioux Lookout Detachment have arrested and charged two individuals for drug trafficking and firearms offences in the Municipality, thanks to ongoing investigations being conducted by the Sioux Lookout CSCU.

On Wednesday, April 17th, 2025, at approximately 2:00 pm, police executed a search warrant at a local residence on Highland Park Drive, in the Municipality of Sioux Lookout. During the search, officers seized prohibited firearms, ammunition, and prohibited firearms accessories, as well as suspected illicit substances and proceeds of crime. Following investigation, charges have been laid against two Sioux Lookout residents.

Brody EDWARDS, 21-years-old of Sioux Lookout, Ontario, has been arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act offences:

·      Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm – three counts

·      Carless storage of Firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition – three counts

·      Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm

·      Possession of a firearm knowing the Serial number has been tampered with

·      Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose

·      Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking

·      Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000

Brier EDWARDS, 18-years-old of Sioux Lookout, Ontario has been arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act offences:

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking

·      Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000

Both accused have been remanded into custody and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden, on April 23, 2025.

(KINGSVILLE, ON) – One person has been charged with impaired driving after a traffic complaint in Kingsville.

On April 11, 2025, at approximately 6:18 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a traffic complaint on Highway #3 in the Town of Kingsville.

Santy PASPAPORN, 49-years-old of Windsor, was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offence:

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Windsor on April 24, 2025, to speak to the charges.

(WASAGA BEACH, ON) – The Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual with impaired driving related charges after a two-vehicle collision.

On April 19, 2025, shorty after 5:30 p.m., Huronia West OPP officers responded to a vehicle collision on Mosley Street in the Town of Wasaga Beach.

Officers attended and while speaking with one of the involved drivers, formed grounds that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by drugs, leading to an arrest. As a result of the investigation, Scott ALLEN, 67-year-old of Wasaga Beach, was arrested and has been charged with the following:

·      Operation while Impaired – Drugs

·      Drive Motor Vehicle – No Licence (HTA)

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Collingwood on May 20, 2025, to answer to the charges.

John WROBLEWSKI – Drunk Driving

(SPRINGWATER TOWNSHIP, ON) – The Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual with impaired driving related charges.

On April 19, 2025, shortly after 3:30 p.m., Huronia West OPP officers were conducting a R.I.D.E. program on Carson Road in Springwater Township.

Officers spoke with the driver of a vehicle that entered the R.I.D.E. program and during the interaction, officers formed grounds that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol, leading to an arrest. As a result of the investigation, John WROBLEWSKI, 61-year-old of Barrie, was arrested and has been charged with the following:

·      Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

·      Driving Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor (LLCA)

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Collingwood on May 20, 2025, to answer to the charges.

(SPRINGWATER TOWNSHIP, ON) – The Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual with impaired driving related charges because of a traffic tip.
