David Mackey – Impaired Biking

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation after being alerted to a possible impaired driver in Coboconk on a motorcycle.

On Monday July 14, 2025 at approximately 1:37 pm officers were notified of a possible impaired driver that were operating a motorcycle believed to be impaired with a passenger. Officers entered into an impaired driving investigation and the driver was arrested and charged with impaired driving related charges.

David Mackey, 46-year-old of Coboconk, was charged with:

  • Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The drivers license was suspended for 90 days and the motorcycle was impounded for 7 days.

Charge Laid In June Motorcycle Collision

(GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON)– One person is charged following an investigation into a serious traffic collision in June 2025.

On Monday, June 23, 2025, at approximately 3:48 p.m., members of the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with Grey County EMS and local fire services, responded to a two-vehicle collision involving a vehicle and a motorcycle on Grey Road 17 at Big Rock Road in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

The driver of the motorcycle sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injury and was transported to hospital for treatment.

As a result, a 39-year-old driver from Owen Sound has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:

·      Careless Driving Causing Bodily Harm

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Provincial Offences Court in Owen Sound on August 11, 2025.

Fatal Pedestrian Vs Tree Collision

(MISSISSIPPI MILLS TWP., ON) – A woman, struck by a large section of falling tree in Almonte, has died from her injuries.

On Tuesday, July 8, 20205, shortly before 8:30 a.m., members of the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and other first responders were called to the intersection of Ann and Church Streets.

A 34-year-old woman from Mississippi Mills Township was walking in the intersection when she was hit by the falling tree.

The victim was transported to hospital in critical condition.

On Sunday, July 13, 2025, the OPP was notified that the victim had died from the injuries sustained in the incident.

The investigation is continuing, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner.

Alexander HERBERT – Drugs

(RENFREW, ON) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one person after conducting a traffic stop on Lochiel Street in the Town of Renfrew.

On Thursday, July 10, 2025, at approximately 1:00 p.m., a Renfrew OPP officer observed an All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) traveling on the roadway without a plate.  The ATV was later located on Lochiel Street in the Town of Renfrew and a traffic stop was conducted.

As a result of the investigation, Alexander HERBERT age 28 of Renfrew was charged with possession of a schedule 1 substance.

The accused was released and scheduled to attend the Pembroke Court of Justice on August 13, 2025.

Thomas FINDLAY – Impaired Driving

(RENFREW, ON) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one person after conducting a traffic stop on River Road in the Township of Horton.

On Thursday, July 10, 2025, at approximately 8:55 a.m., a Renfrew OPP officer conducted a traffic stop on River Road in the Township of Horton.

As a result of the investigation, Thomas FINDLAY age 70 of Kinburn was charged with:

·        Operation while impaired- alcohol and drugs

·        Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released and scheduled to attend the Pembroke Court of Justice on August 13, 2025.

The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and their vehicle was impounded for seven days.

On Saturday, July 12, 2025, at approximately 12:05 a.m., a Renfrew OPP officer conducted a traffic stop on Barnet Boulevard in the Town of Renfrew.

As a result of the investigation, Alexander GOLDBERG age 40 of Renfrew was charged with:

·        Operation while impaired- alcohol and drugs

·        Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released and scheduled to attend the Pembroke Court of Justice on August 13, 2025.

The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and their vehicle was impounded for seven days.

More Impaired Drivers Arrested – RYAN, RIGHTMEYER & CHERRETT

(QUINTE WEST, ON) – The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges in three more impaired driving investigations.

On Friday, July 11, 2025, at approximately 4:15 p.m., officers were responding to a traffic complaint on Johnstown Road, Quinte West. The driver of the vehicle was arrested for being impaired and transported to the detachment for further testing.

Marie RYAN, age 66, from Quinte West, was charged with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

On Saturday, July 12, 2025, at approximately 1:30 a.m., officers with the Quinte West OPP, investigated a single vehicle collision on Loyalist Parkway, Quinte West, leading to suspect a motorist may have been under the influence of alcohol. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was utilized, resulting in the arrest of a driver for being impaired. The driver was transported to the detachment for further testing.

Carter RIGHTMEYER, age 19, from Quinte West was charged with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Fail to remain
  • Young driver – B.A.C. above zero
  • Fail to have insurance card

On Sunday, July 13, 2025, at approximately 10:15 p.m., officers with the Quinte West OPP, investigated a collision on North Murray Street, Quinte West, resulting in the arrest of a driver for being impaired.

Dallas CHERRETT, age 29, from Trenton, was charged with the following offence:

  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand

All the accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on a later date. Additionally, the vehicles they were operating were impounded for seven days, and their licences suspended for 90 days.

Benjamin BARKLEY – Impaired Driving

(RENFREW, ON) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one person after responding to a traffic complaint on Opeongo Road in Admaston/Bromley Township.

On Sunday, July 13, 2025, at approximately 5:40 p.m., Renfrew OPP officers responded to a traffic complaint on Opeongo Road in the Township of Admaston/Bromley. The vehicle was later located on O’Brien Road in the Town of Renfrew and a traffic stop was conducted.

As a result of the investigation, Benjamin BARKLEY age 25 of Stittsville was charged with:

·        Operation while impaired- alcohol and drugs

·        Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released and scheduled to attend the Pembroke Court of Justice on August 13, 2025.

The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and their vehicle was impounded for seven days.

18 Year Old Arrested After Parked Car Incident

(THAMES CENTRE, ON) – Driver charged with Impaired after vehicle collides with two parked cars in Dorchester.

On July 13, 2025, at 1:51 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were dispatched to Huntington Crescent in Dorchester in the Municipality of Thames Centre for report vehicle that collided with two cars that were parked, unoccupied on the side of the road.

The suspect vehicle fled the scene, however, was later located at an address on Parkview Drive in Dorchester.

The driver was placed under arrest and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment.

As a result, Gabriel BRAN, an 18-year-old of Dorchester, has been charged under the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act with:

·      Operation while impaired – Alcohol

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Dangerous operation

·      Failure to stop after accident

·      Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero

·      Fail to report damaged vehicle

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on September 8, 2025.

There were no injuries reported.

Keanna ALATE Arrested Following Collision

(STRATHROY-CARADOC, ON) – Driver charged with Impaired after vehicle enters ditch on Highway 402.

On July 11, 2025, at 6:31 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to the Westbound lanes of Highway 402 in the Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc, for the report single vehicle collision at the Longwoods Road on-ramp.

The driver was placed under arrest and transported to the Middlesex OPP Detachment.

As a result, Keanna ALATE, a 28-year-old of Ingersoll has been charged under the Criminal Code, Highway Traffic Act and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle

·      Fail to have insurance card

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on August 25, 2025.

Eric GOUGH Was Arrested

(MISSISSIPPI MILLS TWP., ON) – A Smiths Falls resident is facing numerous charges after a weapon was seized during an investigation.

On Saturday, July 12, 2025, at approximately 10:00 p.m., officers with the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a reported break-in at a residence in Mississippi Mills Township.

Officers located and stopped a vehicle in Carleton Place. A search of the vehicle located stolen property and a prohibited weapon with an over-capacity magazine. The two males in the vehicle were arrested and transported to the OPP detachment.

One male was release without charges.

Eric GOUGH, age 24 of Smiths Falls, has been charged with:

  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
  • Transporting a firearm in a careless manner
  • Dangerous operation of a vehicle
  • Unlawfully in a dwelling
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on July 16, 2025.

Fatal Train Vs Pickup Collision

(BRIGHTON, ON) – Officers from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a fatal collision between a train and a pickup truck.

On Monday, July 14, 2025, at about 8:15 a.m., officers and emergency crews responded to a collision between a train and a pickup truck on Hunt Road in the Municipality of Brighton. The driver of the pickup truck, a 69-year-old male of Frankford, Ontario, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Hunt Road was closed for several hours while the OPP and Canadian Pacific Railway conducted their investigations, between County Road 2 to approximately one kilometre south on Hunt Road.

The road reopened just after 1:00 p.m. that same day.

Driver & Passenger Arrested – Assault, Etc.

(WEST PERTH, ON) – Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two individuals following an investigation into a report of impaired driving in the Municipality of West Perth.

On July 11, 2025 just before midnight, the Perth County OPP attended a local campground regarding a driver who was operating a motor vehicle while impaired. Upon interacting with the driver and passenger, both individuals attempted to flee on foot after the passenger assaulted the responding officers.

Robert BAXTER, 45 years old of Cambridge, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with:

  • Operation While Impaired
  • Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand
  • Resist Peace Officer
  • Failure to Comply with Undertaking
  • Failure to Stop for Police – Contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

Joseph RICHARDSON, 37 years old of St. Mary’s, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with:

  • Assault Peace Officer with a Weapon
  • Assault Peace Officer – Two Counts
  • Resist Peace Officer

Both individuals were held in custody and later released with a scheduled court date of August 11, 2025 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford, Ontario.

Mover Attempts To Extort Customer – Brandon DANIELS Arrested #StandYourGround

(OTONABEE-SOUTH MONAGHAN TOWNSHIP, ON) – The Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have made an arrest relating to a ‘moving’ scam.

On Sunday July 13, 2025, the Peterborough County OPP received a call from an individual who was in the process of moving to Peterborough. The caller advised that they had hired a mover who originally quoted a price that seemed too good to be true but were now being asked for more money.

The complainant, who was following the moving truck from Vaughn to Peterborough, said that prior to arriving to their new residence, the moving truck pulled over and demanded more money or they were not going to complete the delivery. The complainant advised that they needed to contact their bank but contacted the OPP instead.

Peterborough County OPP officers arrived on scene blocking the moving truck from being able to drive off. Officers spoke with the driver who was arrested shortly after. The vehicle was impounded, however first taken to the complainant’s residence to be offloaded.

Brandon DANIELS (age 40) of Toronto, ON., was arrested and charged with;

·      Fraud under $5,000

·      Fail to have insurance card

·      Fail to carry CVOR certificate or lease

·      Fail to accurately complete daily inspection report

·      Fail to ensure daily inspection report is accurately completed

·      Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle

·      Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit – commercial vehicle

·      Operate unsafe vehicle – commercial motor vehicle

·      Drive motor vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on August 19, 2025.

The Peterborough County OPP want to remind everyone that these types of Scams happen on a regular basis and can be avoided by these simple tips/reminders.

·      If it sounds too good to be true, chances are it is.

·      Do your research before agreeing to a contractor and read any fine print in any contracts

·      If you have concerns that it might be a scam, call your local police agency.

The OPP urge residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious offers or contractor activity. If you believe you have been targeted by a scam, contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501.
