Another Fatal Collision


(SELWYN TOWNSHIP, ON)
 – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and emergency crews attended the scene of a serious single vehicle collision on Bensfort Road.

At approximately 2:45pm on Tuesday July 29, 2025, Peterborough County OPP officers along with Otonabee-South-Monaghan (OSM) Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were dispatched to a serious single vehicle collision on Bensfort Road south of Base Line. Officers arrived and observed a single vehicle in the ditch that had come in contact with the hydro pole resulting in hydro lines being downed. Hydro attended and dealt with the hydro wires allowing First Responders to access the vehicle.

As a result of the collision, the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a 66-year-old female from Peterborough was pronounced as deceased at the scene.

Bensfort Road remained closed for several hours while emergency crews dealt with the collision and officers trained in collision reconstruction measured and documented the scene.

Anyone who may have witnessed or has video/dash camera footage of the collision and has not spoken with police is asked to contact the Peterborough County OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122.

2 Drivers Dead Following Collision

(DENBIGH., ON) – Two drivers are deceased after a head-on collision in Denbigh, east of Bancroft.

Officers with the Upper Ottawa Valley, Bancroft and Renfrew Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the crash, which happened on Highway 28 near Trout Lake Road, just before 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30, 2025. Members of the Denbigh Fire Department and Renfrew County Paramedics also responded to scene.

Both drivers were pronounced deceased at the scene and there were no passengers.

The identities of the decreased males have not been confirmed.

Highway 28 remained closed overnight for the on-scene investigation and reopened at approximately 5:30 a.m. this morning.

The investigation is continuing with assistance of an OPP Collision Reconstructionist and Technical Collision Investigation Team members.

Christopher LAMORIE – Assault With Weapon

(GRAVENHURST, ON) – The Bracebridge Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one driver after investigating a collision involving a bicycle.

On July 25, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. Bracebridge OPP officers along with Muskoka EMS, responded to reports from members of the public about a collision involving a motor vehicle and a bicycle that occurred on Pinedale Road in Gravenhurst. Callers reported that a vehicle approached the cyclist from the rear and made contact with a tire, causing the rider to be ejected. The victim suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Police have arrested and charged 45-year-old Christopher LAMORIE, of Gravenhurst, with Assault with a Weapon, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Failure to Stop after Accident. He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on August 26, 2025 to answer to his charges.

Tow Truck Operator Facing Drunk Driving Charge

(PENETANGUISHENE, ON)- An Etobicoke resident became the subject of a drinking and driving investigation after the OPP Communication Centre was in receipt of numerous complaints by community members of a passed out, possibly impaired driver in a parked tow truck on Broad Street, Penetanguishene on July 26, 2025.

Officers of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended the scene at approximately 6:13 a.m. and after parking their cruisers to prevent the driver from fleeing, they spoke with the driver after awaking him and entered into an impaired driving investigation which was continued at the Detachment.

Upon completion of the investigation, 27 year old Anderson Romero ULATE has been charged with the following criminal driving offences of –

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice  on August 14, 2025, and was also served a 90 day drivers licence suspension. The involved vehicle was towed and subject to a 7 day vehicle impound in accordance to the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.

Drug & Weapons Bust – BONALDO & PAUPST

(UNINCORPORATED TERRITORY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged two people with drugs and weapon related offence after investigating a motor vehicle collision.

On Wednesday July 30, 2025, at approximately 4:55 a.m., members from the Nipissing West Detachment (Sudbury) and Fire Services responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 144, Unincorporated Territory, north of Half Way Lake Provincial Park.

The two occupants reported no injuries. A search of the vehicle located brass knuckles, a conductive energy weapon and drugs suspected to be, cannabis, Cocaine and opioids.

As a result of the investigation the driver, Michelle BONALDO, 60 years-of-age, from Goderich was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose- two counts
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance- two counts
  • Have care or control of vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
  • Careless driving

The passenger, Gerald PAUPST, 52 years-of-age, from Hamilton was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose- two counts
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance- two counts
  • Possession of a Schedule III Substance

Both accused were released and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Wednesday August 27, 2025, in Sudbury.

The highway was reduced to one lane, with altering traffic for just over five hours, during the investigation and the removal of the vehicle.

Murray DAVEY Facing Weapons Charges

(TOWNSHIP OF CRAMAHE, ON) – A Colborne resident is facing weapons-related charges after police responded to an incident on Telephone Road in the Township of Cramahe.

On July 28, 2025, shortly before 9:30 p.m., members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a residence following a report of a dispute, with concerns that firearms may be involved.

Upon arrival, officers located several rifles and shotguns that were being stored in an unsafe manner.

As a result, Murray DAVEY (74) of Colborne, was taken into custody and charged with:

·        Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition – six counts

The firearms and ammunition were seized. The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in September.

Kevin BRAULT Was Arrested

(SUDBURY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged a driver with impaired driving offences after a traffic stop at a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) initiative.

On Monday July 28, 2025, at approximately 10:55 p.m., members from the Nipissing West Detachment (Sudbury) and Sudbury Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (T.I.M.E) of the OPP were conducting a R.I.D.E. initiative at the intersection of Region Road 90 (also known as Garson Coniston Road) and Highway 17, Sudbury.

One driver attempted to evade the R.I.D.E. initiative but was stopped and arrested by police for impaired driving.

As a result of the investigation, Kevin BRAULT, 37 years-of-age, from Sudbury, was charged with, operation while impaired – alcohol and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Wednesday August 27, 2025, in Sudbury.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Firas GEORGES – Impaired Driving, Etc.

(DUFFERIN COUNTY) – Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a Brampton resident with stunt driving plus impaired driving-related offences following a traffic stop for speeding.

On July 29, 2025, just after 10:00 p.m., Dufferin OPP officers were conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 89 in the Town of Mono when they observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. Officers conducted a traffic stop and after speaking with the male driver, officers observed signs of impairment and initiated an impaired driving investigation.

Firas GEORGES, a 44-year-old male, from Brampton has been charged with:

•      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

•      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

•      Speeding 50+ Km/h over posted limit

•      Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform stunt – Excessive speed

The accused individual is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville. Their driver’s licence was suspended, and their vehicle impounded.

(DUFFERIN COUNTY) – Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an Orangeville resident with impaired driving-related offences following a traffic complaint.

On July 26, 2025, just before 9:00 a.m., Dufferin OPP officers responded to a traffic complaint regarding a possible impaired driver at a retail location on Broadway in the Town of Orangeville.  Officers located the vehicle and after speaking with the male driver, officers observed signs of impairment and initiated an impaired driving investigation.

(DUFFERIN COUNTY) – Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a Shelburne resident with impaired driving-related offences following a traffic complaint.

On July 25, 2025, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Dufferin OPP officers responded to a traffic complaint regarding a possible impaired driver in the area of First Street in the Town of Orangeville. A short time later, the vehicle was located on 20th Sideroad in Amaranth Township. After speaking with the male driver, officers observed signs of impairment and initiated an impaired driving investigation.

Rory SIEGEL, a 32-year-old male, from Shelburne has been charged with:

•      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

•      Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code

The accused individual is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville. Their driver’s licence was suspended, and their vehicle impounded.

Russell THOMAS – Impaired Operation

(BANCROFT, ON) – Members of the Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with impaired operation in the Municipality of Hastings Highlands.

On Tuesday, July 29, 2025, just after 11:00 p.m., Bancroft OPP officers were conducting a RIDE program on South Baptiste Lake Road, Hastings Highlands. A vehicle was stopped during the program, one person was transported to the Central Hastings OPP Detachment for further testing.

Russell THOMAS, a 47-year-old resident of Toronto, has been charged with operation while impaired – drugs.

The accused’s license was suspended for 90 days and their vehicle impounded for seven days. The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bancroft on September 2, 2025.

Charlene WEBBER – Impaired Driving, Weapons

(SOUTH-WEST OXFORD, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Oxford Detachment responded to a single vehicle collision, resulting in one person being charged with multiple charges.

On July 29, 2025, at approximately 10:30 p.m., while on general patrol, members of Oxford OPP came across a collision on Plank Line in the Township of South-West Oxford.

As a result of the investigation, Charlene WEBBER, a 46-year-old resident of Woodstock, has been charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 plus
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose (two counts)

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock on September 2, 2025.

Jessica KETCHESON – Drunk Driving

(BANCROFT, ON) – Members of the Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged one person with impaired operation.

On Monday, July 28, 2025, just before 8:30 p.m., Bancroft OPP officers were conducting traffic patrol in the town of Bancroft. Officers conducted a traffic stop when they observed a vehicle driving in a suspicious manor. An approved screening device was used during the stop, as a result the driver was transported to the detachment for further testing.

Jessica KETCHESON, a 46-year-old resident of Kingston, has been charged with the following:

–      Operation while impaired – alcohol

–      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days and their vehicle impounded for seven days. The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bancroft on August 12, 2025.

Sujal SHARMA Arrested Again #RepeatOffender

(TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) – One person has been arrested and charged after an investigation where a local victim was defrauded.

On February 25, 2025, members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were advised of a fraud where the victim, from Temiskaming Shores, had been the target of online and in person scams. OPP began an in-depth investigation determining an estimated loss of approximately $74000.

On March 11, 2025, Temiskaming OPP with the assistance of the Temiskaming Crime Unit, the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the Provincial Operational Intelligence Bureau (POIB), police arrested and charged one person.

Sujal SHARMA, 21 years-of-age of Huntsville Ontario, was charged with:

  • Fraud over $5000

On June 24, 2025, following further investigation, police re-arrested the accused and charged them with additional offences.

  • Fraud over $5000
  • Theft over $5000
  • Personating peace officer

The accused is scheduled to reappear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Haileybury, on October 3, 2025.

Graham DREW Facing Numerous Charges

(BROCKVILLE, ON) – The Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an individual in connection with a suspicious fire.

On Sunday, July 20, 2025, shortly after 5:00 a.m., Leeds OPP responded to a report of a structure fire at a single-family dwelling north of Brockville. The home was unoccupied at the time of the fire; no injuries were sustained.

After an extensive investigation by the Leeds OPP Crime Unit resulted in the execution of a search warrant at a property on County Road 7 near Jasper. Officers seized:

  • A semi-automatic rifle
  • High-capacity magazine and ammunition
  • Body armour
  • Brass knuckles
  • Explosives containers
  • Approximately three grams of suspected fentanyl
  • Over 70 grams of suspected methamphetamine
  • Over 430 grams of an unknown white substance
  • A riding lawnmower
  • A passenger vehicle
  • A travel trailer
  • A pick-up truck
  • Several cellphones

As a result of the investigation, 40-year-old Graham DREW of Jasper has been charged with the following offences:

  • Arson – disregard for human life
  • Causing an explosion likely to cause bodily harm, death or serious damage to property
  • With intent to cause bodily harm, cause an explosive substance to explode
  • With intent to destroy or damage property, place or throw an explosive substance
  • Explosives – making or possessing for unlawful purpose
  • Place or throw an explosive substance
  • Store an explosive
  • Possession of an explosive
  • Send or deliver to a person or a person to take or receive an explosive substance
  • Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition – three counts
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm – two counts
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition – two counts
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 – three counts
  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon

The accused has been remanded into custody, and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing on July 31, 2025, at the Brockville Ontario Court of Justice.
