Nahshon BALFOUR – Impaired Driving

(BLIND RIVER, ON)- The East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) lays 32nd impaired charge in 2025.

On Thursday, August 7, 2025, at approximately 3:00 a.m., members from the East Algoma OPP responded to a traffic complaint of a vehicle travelling eastbound on Highway 17 west of Blind River. The white car was all over the road, turning on the headlights off and on and driving into on coming traffic.

A short time later police observed the white car travelling eastbound on Causley Street in the Town of Blind River and initiated a traffic stop.  

Upon speaking with the driver, officers determined that the individual was impaired by an intoxicating substance. The driver was then arrested and transported to the Blind River Detachment for further testing.

Nahshon BALFOUR, 21 years old from Brantford, was charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – drug

·      Dangerous operation

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on September 04, 2025. The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension, and the involved vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The OPP continues to encourage the public to report motorists suspected of driving impaired by calling 9-1-1 or contacting the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Susan QUINTON – Threats

(THESSALON, ON)- Former acquaintance makes threats during grocery store incident.

On Friday, August 8, 2025, at approximately 1:00 p.m., members of the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a threats complaint that occurred at local grocery store in the Town of Thessalon.

While inside the grocery store, a former acquaintance approached the complainant and began yelling. As the confrontation escalated, the individual clenched their fist and threatened to harm the complainant.

As a result, Susan QUINTON, 55 years-old from Thessalon, was charged with: Uttering threats-cause death or bodily harm. 

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on September 4, 2025.

Randall BRENNAN – Impaired Driving

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – Officers from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual following a serious collision on Highway 401.

On April 20, 2025, just before 7:00 p.m., officers responded to a collision on Highway 401, near Newtonville Road, in the Municipality of Port Hope. Two vehicles were involved. One driver was air-lifted to Toronto-area trauma centre with life-threatening injuries.

The eastbound lanes of Highway 401 between Newtonville Road and Service Centre Road were closed for several hours while the OPP Technical Collision Investigators assisted with the investigation.

On August 5, 2025, police arrested one of the drivers involved in the collision.

Randall BRENNAN (44) from Bowmanville has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

–      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

–      Dangerous operation

–      Driver – fail to properly wear seat belt

The accused is due to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in September.

Whether you are impaired by alcohol or drugs, impaired is impaired and driving under the influence of either is a criminal offence. If you plan on drinking or consuming drugs, plan to not drive. Drug Bust – Stoneham & MILKS

(DUFFERIN COUNTY) – Officers from the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) executed search warrants at residences in Alliston and Fergus, as well as two vehicles, one in Orangeville and one in Alliston. During the operation, police seized a quantity of drugs, including cocaine, cash, cell phones, and a vehicle. Two individuals were arrested in connection with the investigation.

In spring 2025, the Dufferin OPP launched a drug trafficking investigation targeting the Towns of Orangeville and Shelburne based on information received by police. On August 6, 2025, members of the Dufferin OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with assistance from the Collingwood CSCU, Nottawasaga CSCU, and Huronia West CSCU, executed several search warrants. The operation led to the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of multiple items, including:

As a result, Cory Stoneham, 31-year-old, from Alliston has been charged with:

•      Traffick in Schedule I substance- Cocaine

•      Poss of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

•      Poss of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000 – in Canada

As a result, Sharle MILKS, 57-year-old, from Mulmur has been charged with:

•      Traffick in Schedule I substance- Cocaine

•      Poss of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

•      Poss of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000 – in Canada

The following items were seized during the investigation:

– 61 grams of cocaine

– Large quantity of Canadian currency

– Debt list

– Three cell phones

– Scales

– Food mixers containing cocaine residue

James HODGSON – Hit & Run, Impaired Operation, Etc.

(LAMBTON SHORES, ON) – An individual faces several charges following a collision in Lambton Shores.

On August 6, 2025, just before 5:00 p.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision on Dolway Drive, near Outer Drive, in the Municipality of Lambton Shores.

Investigation determined that the vehicle left the roadway, struck a tree, and the driver fled the scene. Police located the individual shortly after the collision and they were safely taken into custody.

There were no injuries reported.

As a result of the investigation, James HODGSON, 18-year-old of London, was charged under the Criminal Code, Highway Traffic Act, and the Liquor Licence and Control Act with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Flight from peace officer
  • Fail to remain
  • Young driver – B.A.C above zero
  • Person under 19 years consuming liquor
  • Having care or control of a motor vehicle with liquor readily available
  • Person under 19 years having liquor

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Sarnia on September 15, 2025.

Sheryl BERESTECKI – Theft

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual has been charged in relation to two shoplifting incidents in Port Dover.

At approximately 1:31 p.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2025, the Norfolk County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of shoplifting at a business on Main Street in Dover.

The investigation determined that an individual entered the store, concealed merchandise, and attempted to leave without paying.

An officer located the suspect on the property and took them into custody. Further investigation revealed the same individual had been involved in a similar incident at another Main Street business reported the previous month.

As a result, 49-year-old Sheryl BERESTECKI of Norfolk County was charged with the following alleged offence:

  • Theft under $5,000 – shoplifting – two counts.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.

Navjot SINGH Was Arrested

(PUSLINCH TWP, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charge a Brampton resident criminally, stemming from a traffic stop.

On August 9, 2025, at approximately 10:15 p.m., members of the Wellington County Traffic Management Unit were performing a proactive traffic enforcement initiative, which resulted in a traffic stop being conducted on Wellington Road 34, within Puslinch Township.

As a result of the investigation, Navjot SINGH, a 23-year-old from Brampton is charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on August 22, 2025.

7 Year Old Sent To Hospital – Matthew ZADRAN Arrested

(NEW TECUMSETH, ON) – The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in the Town of New Tecumseth.

On August 9, 2025, shortly before 11:00 p.m., Nottawasaga OPP officers, responded to an emergency call regarding a motor vehicle that had struck a pedestrian and fled the scene on Church Street South in Alliston. The pedestrian, a 7-year-old, was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Officers located the suspect vehicle shortly after on Industrial Parkway and as a result of the investigation,

Matthew ZADRAN 19-years-old of Alliston was charged with the following:

  • Failure to stop after accident
  • Dangerous operation
  • Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court -Two counts
  • Assault with A Weapon- Three Counts
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Drive motor vehicle – Perform stunt
  • Uttering Threats – Cause death or Bodily Harm

A 16-year-old youth from Bradford (name withheld under the Youth Criminal Justice Act) was charged with the following :

  • Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court- Two counts

Both accused parties were held in custody for a bail hearing at a later time.

Jacob VANEVERA – Impaired Driving

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual has been charged in relation to an impaired driving investigation in Simcoe.

At approximately 7:26 p.m. on Sunday, August 10, 2025, the Norfolk County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a 9-1-1 report of a suspected impaired driver on Austin Crescent in Simcoe.

Officers located the vehicle and, following an interaction with the driver, took them into custody without incident.

As a result, 42-year-old Jacob VANEVERA of Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs,
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand,
  • Have care or control of vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available,
  • Having care or control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.

19 Year Old Facing Impaired Driving Charge

(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charge a Brampton resident criminally, stemming from a traffic stop.

On August 9, 2025, at approximately 10:15 a.m., members of the Wellington County OPP were dispatched to unknown parked truck outside of a residence, with the driver passed out in the driver’s seat.

Officers responded to the location and as a result of the investigation, Parneet RAI, a 19-year-old from Brampton is charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on August 22, 2025.

 (TILLSONBURG, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Oxford Detachment responded to a suspected impaired driver after an officer detected concerning driving behaviour, while on foot patrol, in the Town of Tillsonburg.

On August 10, 2025, at approximately 9:40 p.m., members of Oxford OPP identified a suspected impaired driver on Bloomer Street in the Town of Tillsonburg.

As a result of the investigation, Joseph KNELSEN, a 22-year-old resident of Port Rowan, has been charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 plus
  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Fail to Stop for Red Light
  • Having Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with Liquor Readily Available
  • Having Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with Cannabis Readily Available
  • Drive Motor Vehicle – No Mudguards
  • Fail to Properly Wear Seatbelt

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock on October 7, 2025.

Wendy HICKS – Drunk Driving

 (EAST ZORRA-TAVISTOCK, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Oxford Detachment took another impaired driver off the road as the result of a R.I.D.E. check in the Township of East Zorra-Tavistock.

On August 9, 2025, at approximately 3:15 p.m., Oxford OPP set up a Reduced Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) check on George Street in Innerkip.

As a result, Wendy HICKS, a 58-year-old resident of Woodstock, has been charged with:

  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Operation While Impaired
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 plus
  • Driving Motor Vehicle with Unsealed Alcohol
  • Fail to Stop for Police

The accused has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

R.I.D.E. programs are set up at various locations during the day and night. They continue to prove to be helpful in getting impaired drivers off Oxford County roadways.

 (TILLSONBURG, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Oxford Detachment responded to a single vehicle collision, resulting in one person being charged with impaired driving charges.

Jonathan DAVIS Was Arrested Again

(BANCROFT, ON) – Members of the Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged one person following a disturbance involving multiple downtown businesses in the Town of Bancroft.

On August 9, 2025, shortly after 3:20 p.m., officers responded to reports of a male causing a disturbance at several locations on Hastings Street North and Station Street. It was reported that the male approached employees while in possession of a pickaxe, made inappropriate comments, and was confrontational with staff and members of the public. The male was also observed yelling at passing vehicles and pedestrians.

The accused was located a short time later and arrested. Investigation revealed he was bound by two probation order.

As a result, Jonathan DAVIS, 47 years old, of No Fixed Address in Bancroft, has been charged with:

  • Causing a Disturbance – contrary to section 175(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order – two counts – contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code

The accused was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bancroft on a future date.

Jody WATSON Was Arrested Again

(BANCROFT, ON) – The Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two people after a traffic stop in the Town of Bancroft.

On August 10, 2025, just after 1:20 a.m., officers stopped a vehicle on Bridge Street East. During the stop, suspected crack cocaine was observed in plain view. Both occupants were arrested and a search of the vehicle led to the seizure of drugs, cash, a prohibited weapon, and items associated with drug trafficking.

As a result, Jody WATSON, 39, of Bancroft, and Thomas PARRELL, 42, of South Algonquin Township, were jointly charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (other than heroin)
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada

WATSON is further charged with:

  • Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

Both accused were held for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice.
