Bilal KAHN – Impaired Driving

(PERTH, ON) – The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Toronto resident with impaired driving.

On Sunday, February 8, 2026, Lanark County OPP officers received a complaint of a possible impaired driver leaving a business in Perth. Officers located the vehicle just after 12:00 a.m. in the parking lot of another business and conducted a traffic stop.

The driver was arrested and transported to the OPP Detachment in Perth for testing.

As a result of the investigation, Bilal KAHN, 32-years-old, has been charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol

·        Drive while suspended

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Monday, March 9, 2026.

The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days (Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Meryl MCGIVERN – Impaired Driving

(PEMBROKE, ON) – A City of Pembroke resident is facing a Criminal Code (CC) impaired driving charge after the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) recovered a stolen motor vehicle.

On February 5, 2026, at approximately 9:30 a.m. members of the UOV OPP responded to a report of a male passed out in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. Officers located the vehicle in a parking lot on Alexander Street in Pembroke. The male was taken into custody and as part of the investigation a Standard Field Sobriety Test (SFST) was conducted, and further testing was conducted by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) at the detachment.

As a result of the investigation 39-year-old Meryl MCGIVERN has been charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) offence:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was returned to its owner. The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on March 3, 2026.

Another Fatal Snowmobile Collision

(KAPUSKASING, ON) – The Kapuskasing Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating a fatal snowmobile collision in Kapuskasing.

On February 7, 2026, at approximately 2:30 p.m., members of the Kapuskasing Detachment OPP responded to a report of a single snowmobile collision on Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Club (OFSC) Trail L123 near the intersection of Stephens Road and Swanson Road in Kapuskasing.

The driver, a 67-year-old male of Ingersoll, Ontario, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

OPP Technical Collision Investigators and Reconstructionists (TCI) are assisting with the investigation.

OFSC Trail L123 was closed between Trail L137 and Trail L143 for the investigation, and the trail has since reopened.

Mohid KASHIF Was Arrested

(PETAWAWA, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested one individual and seized a prohibited firearms magazine following the execution of a search warrant in the Town of Petawawa.

On Saturday, February 7, 2026, at approximately 11:00 a.m., members of the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), with assistance from the East Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), executed a warrant at a residence on Paardeburg Boulevard.

Mohid KASHIF, 22 years old of Petawawa, has been charged with possession of a prohibited device or ammunition for a dangerous purpose, contrary to section 88 of the Criminal Code.

The ongoing investigation is being carried out by North East Region OPP, and East Region OPP Crime Units under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on February 8, 2026.

Fatal Snowmobile Collision In Kearney

(KEARNEY, ON) – The Almaguin Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating a fatal snowmobile collision in Kearney.

On February 7, 2026, at approximately 2:00 p.m., Almaguin Highlands OPP officers responded to a report of a single snowmobile collision into a tree on Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Club (OFSC) Trail AL301 in Kearney.

The driver, a 51-year-old male of Whitby, Ontario, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

OPP Technical Collision Investigators and Reconstructionists (TCI) are assisting with the investigation.

OFSC Trail AL301 was closed at the intersection of OFSC D Trail for the investigation, and the trail has since reopened.

Male Located Deceased Following Fire

(GREATER NAPANEE, ON) – One person is deceased after a house fire in Napanee.

On Saturday, February 7, 2026, shortly before 9:30 p.m. members of the Lennox and Addington County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to the scene on Switzerville Road.

Napanee firefighters were already battling the fire and reported that people were potentially trapped in the house.

Two men, aged 59 and 34, were able to escape from the home. The 59-year-old man had jumped from a second-floor balcony to escape the smoke and flames. He was transported to hospital in critical condition. The 34-year-old was not seriously hurt.

A 65-year-old male was unaccounted for. All three men were residents of the home.

Human remains were located inside the residence by firefighters. A postmortem examination will be conducted to confirm the identity.

Firefighters remained on the scene overnight and the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the blaze.

Fatal Collision North Of Clinton

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Members of the Huron County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a fatal collision on Base Line in The Municipality of Central Huron, just north of the Town of Clinton.  

On Saturday, February 7, 2026, at approximately 2:00 p.m., emergency crews responded to reports of a two-vehicle collision involving a pickup truck and a van on Base Line between Lobb Road and Dutch Line.

As a result of the collision, all four occupants of the van were transported to hospital. One occupant, a 38-year-old female from Exeter, was later pronounced deceased. The driver of the van remains in hospital with serious injuries. The two remaining occupants sustained minor injuries.

The driver and sole occupant of the pickup truck was transported to hospital with minor injuries.

The investigation remains ongoing with assistance from the OPP Technical Collision Investigators and Reconstructionist. Base Line was closed for several hours while emergency crews and investigators were on scene, but it has since reopened.

4 More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – The Bracebridge Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged four more drivers with impaired driving this week.

On Saturday January 31, 2026 at 8:15 p.m., Bracebridge OPP officers responded to a concern from a member of the public about a possible impaired driver on Wellington Street and Monck Road in Bracebridge. Officers located the vehicle in a nearby commercial parking lot and subsequently arrested and charged 45-year-old Nicholas ARBOUR of Courtland, ON with Impaired Operation and Over 80. He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on March 10, 2026 to answer to his charges.

On Thursday, February 5, 2026 at 6:00 p.m., officers responded to a two-vehicle collision that occurred on Dill Street at Wellington Street in Bracebridge. As a result of their investigation into the collision, police arrested and charged 45-year-old Christopher BROWN of Bracebridge, ON with Impaired Operation and Over 80. He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on March 10, 2026 to answer to his charges.

On Friday, February 6, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. police responded to a concern from a member of the public about the condition of a driver in a commercial parking lot located on Muskoka Road South in Gravenhurst. Officers located the vehicle travelling on Bethune Drive, conducted a traffic stop and subsequently arrested and charged 31-year-old Christopher GARBOS of Toronto, ON with Failure/Refusal to Comply with Demand (Breath), Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor, along with several Highway Traffic Act and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act offenses. He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on February 24, 2026 to answer to his charges.

On Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 4:20 p.m. Bracebridge OPP officers responded to a concern from a member of the public about the condition of a driver who had left a residence in Huntsville. Officers located the vehicle travelling on Highway 11 South near Taylor Road in Bracebridge and subsequently arrested and charged 45-year-old David HILL of Lynden, ON with Impaired Operation, Over 80 and Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available. He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on March 17, 2026 to answer to his charges.

David Brandon CANAVAN Busted Via ALPR

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – The East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged a driver with numerous offences.

On February 6, 2026, at approximately 1:00 p.m., officers were on general patrol, Highway 108 Elliot Lake, when they received an expired plate notification from the Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR). This alert was in relation to a black pickup truck being operated with an expired temporary plate. The pickup truck was subsequently stopped, driver charged, and vehicle towed.

David Brandon CANAVAN, 33-years-old, from Elliot Lake, was charged with:

  • Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit
  • Operate unsafe vehicle
  • Insecure load
  • Fail to have insurance card

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on April 20, 2026.

Miranda BENOIT – Drunk Driving

(HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, ON) – Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid another impaired driving charge in Hamilton Township.

On Monday February 2, 2026, at approximately 4:40 a.m., officers received a call regarding a vehicle that was stuck in a snowbank at a location on Division Street. Officer arrived on scene and observed a black 4 door sedan with its front wheel lodged in the snowbank. A female was found slouched over in the driver’s seat. Officers woke the driver and observed a strong odour of alcohol. Upon speaking with the driver police suspected the individual had been consuming alcohol. The driver was taken into custody and transported to a near by OPP detachment where investigative testing was conducted which resulted in the driver registering over three times the legal limit.  

As a result of the investigation, Miranda BENOIT (age 44) of Colborne Ont. was charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on February 25, 2026.

Joshua HANNES Was Arrested Again – Assault, Etc.

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual has been charged following an assault investigation in Windham Centre.

On Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at approximately 1:03 p.m., members of the Norfolk County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an assault at a property on Windham East Quarter Line Road in Windham Centre.

The investigation determined that an interaction occurred between two individuals on the property, during which one individual assaulted the other, resulting in minor injuries.

Officers located the suspect at the scene as they attempted to leave the area in the victim’s vehicle. The individual was taken into custody without incident.

As a result, 36-year-old Joshua HANNES of Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Assault with a weapon,
  • Theft of motor vehicle,
  • Driving while under suspension,
  • Fail to comply with Probation order – two counts.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.

John CHAMBERS – Drunk Driving

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – Two individuals have been charged following separate impaired driving incidents.

On Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at approximately 10:44 p.m., members of the Norfolk County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint involving a suspected impaired driver on Middleton-North Walsingham Townline Road, just outside of Langton.

Officers located the vehicle at the scene and, following a roadside sobriety test, took the driver into custody without incident.

As a result, 32-year-old John CHAMBERS of Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus),
  • Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero,
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.

On Friday, February 6, 2026, at approximately 1:43 a.m., a member of the Norfolk County OPP observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 3 in Delhi.

The vehicle was stopped, and following a roadside sobriety test, the driver was taken into custody without incident.

As a result, 35-year-old Curtis LLOYD of Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus),
  • Speeding – 1-49 km/h over posted speed limit,
  • Driver fail to surrender licence,
  • Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe at a later date.

Thomas PAULMARTIN – Drunk Driving

(MOOSONEE, ON) – The James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver for impaired driving after a proactive traffic stop.

On January 31, 2026, at approximately 12:15 a.m., the James Bay OPP conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on First Street observed to not have licence plates or a rear light.

Officers spoke to the driver and determined that they had been consuming alcohol. The driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the Moosonee OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Thomas PAULMARTIN, 28 years of age, of Attawapiskat, has been charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·        Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

·        Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero

·        Drive motor vehicle, no permit

·        Drive motor vehicle, no plates

·        Driving a motor vehicle with open container of liquor

·        Drive without proper rear lights

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on March 3, 2026 in Moosonee. Additionally, the driver was issued a 90‑day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS).

Drug Bust – Names Released

(OTONABEE-SOUTH MONAGHAN, ON) – Two arrests have been made in relation to an investigation into trafficking.

In December of 2025, the Peterborough/Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) began an investigation involving the trafficking of Cocaine and Fentanyl within the Peterborough area.

On Thursday February 5, 2026, an individual involved in the investigation was observed leaving a motel, at which point officers made contact with them, and an arrest was made. A second person with them was also arrested who it was later determined was also wanted by the Peterborough Police Service (PPS).

Two others in a vehicle were found to be breaching court orders by being in each others presence and were also arrested.

As a result of the arrest, the following items were seized:

• 84 grams of suspected Fentanyl

• 56 grams of suspected Cocaine

• 250 suspected Dilaudids

• Multiple cell phones

• $4,880 in Canadian currency

Kody CUMMINGS, age 28 of Peterborough, ON., has been charged with:

• Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Fentanyl

• Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine

• Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Dilaudids

• Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

Megan CASEY, age 42 of Peterborough, ON., has been charged with:

• Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Fentanyl

• Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine

• Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Dilaudids

Both accused were held for Bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.

Christine LEACH, age 46 of Peterborough, ON., has been charged with:

• Disobey court order

Andrew MCARTHUR, age 45 of Peterborough, ON., has been charged with:

• Disobey court order 

Both accused were released with a future date to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.

Drug Bust – WORKMAN & LEVERE

(NORTH GRENVILLE, ON) – Two people face charges after a drug seizure in North Grenville.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) began a drug trafficking investigation in late 2025 into the sale of cocaine in areas across Leeds and Grenville.

On Wednesday, February 4, 2026, members of the CSCU, assisted by the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit, executed a search warrant at a motel on Highway 43. Two people were arrested without incident.

Officers seized more than 167 grams of suspected cocaine and a quantity of suspected crack cocaine. They also seized over $5000 in cash, nearly 20 cannisters of bear spray, a spiked bat and items typically associated with drug trafficking.

Brian WORKMAN, age 44 of Ottawa, and Alexis LEVERE, age 21 of North Dundas Township have each been charged with:

  • Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – two counts
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000

WORKMAN was also wanted on arrest warrants by two other police services.

Both of the accused have been remanded in custody. LEVERE is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville on Monday, February 9, 2026, while WORKMAN is scheduled to appear again on Thursday, February 12, 2026.
