Douglas PARE – Drunk Driving

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – Driver facing Impaired charge after traffic stop.

On September 5, 2025, at 3:16 p.m., a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) while on general patrol on Vanneck Road in the Municipality of Middlesex Centre, observed a suspicious vehicle.

A traffic stop was initiated at which time the driver was placed under arrest and transported to the Middlesex OPP Detachment.

As a result, Douglas PARE, a 32-year-old of Ailsa Craig, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on October 8, 2025.

The Middlesex OPP wants to remind the public that if you see anything suspicious or suspect an impaired driver you should contact the Ontario Provincial Police or your nearest police authority immediately.

Philippe POLIQUIN Was Arrested Again

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to several incidents over the weekend, resulting in multiple charges being laid, including theft, drug possession, and stunt driving..

Drugs

On September 6, 2025, at approximately 9:15 a.m., police responded to a single-vehicle collision on Highway 401 eastbound in the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand. The vehicle was reported to be on its side and off the roadway. The Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) also attended to assist the two occupants.

Both individuals were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

As a result of the investigation, a quantity of drugs was seized and additional offences were identified.

Philippe POLIQUIN (44) from Quebec has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – methamphetamine
  • Fail to comply with probation order
  • Careless driving
  • Driving motor vehicle – no licence
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in October.

David GORDON Was Arrested

(PETERBOROUGH, ON) – Officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual with impaired after conducting a traffic stop.

On Saturday September 6, 2025, at approximately 2:45pm, a Peterborough County OPP officer was conducting speed enforcement on Wallace Point Road when they observed a vehicle at a high rate of speed. The officer conducted a traffic stop and upon speaking with the driver, determined them to be impaired. The individual was arrested and transported to an OPP detachment for further testing.

David GORDON (age 62) of Otonabee-South Monaghan Township, ON., was arrested and charged with;

• Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

• Speeding

• Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit

• Fail to have insurance card

The accused had their driver’s licence further suspended for 90-days, and their vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on October 22, 2025.

Brian MARION – Drunk Driving

(BLIND RIVER, ON) – A person was charged after police were called to a vehicle in the ditch on Astles Road and Highway 557.

On September 4, 2025, at approximately 8:30 p.m. the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call of a blue pickup truck that crashed in the ditch.  The complainant also reported that the male driver was out of the truck and too drunk to stand. Police arrived a short afterwards and spoke to the lone driver who was stumbling and only wearing one shoe. A strong odour of alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath and displayed signs of alcohol impairment. Police also learned the person was previously prohibited from driving. He was arrested and the vehicle was towed and impounded.

Brian MARION, 53-years-old, from Sault Ste. Marie was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired by alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while Prohibited under the Criminal Code

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on October 2, 2025.

Eryc SHAVER – Drunk Driving

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual was charged in connection with an impaired driving investigation in Simcoe.

On Saturday, September 6, 2025, at approximately 12:34 a.m., officers from the Norfolk County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program on Cockshutt Road in Simcoe when they stopped a vehicle and evaluated the driver’s sobriety.

After administering a roadside sobriety test, officers took the individual into custody without incident

As a result, 38-year-old Eryc SHAVER of Norfolk County was charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs,
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.

Robert TUTTLE Was Arrested

(CALEDON, ON) – Members from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid charges against an individual following a search warrant.

On August 31, 2025, officers from the Caledon OPP received a report of a stolen utility trailer containing various construction equipment. In the following days, the stolen property was listed for sale on an online classifieds website.

On September 2, 2025, as a result of the investigation, a search warrant was executed by the Caledon Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) at a residence in Bolton, where approximately $10,000 (CAD) worth of construction equipment was recovered.

Robert TUTTLE, 47, of Bolton, was charged with:

  • Trafficking in property obtained by crime
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on October 2, 2025, to answer to the charges.

Rodriguez DE LUNA – Drunk Driving

(PENETANGUISHENE, ON)- A Penetanguishene resident became the subject of a drinking and driving investigation after an officer on patrol checked on a vehicle parked at the side of Dunlop Street, Penetanguishene at approximately 5:00 a.m. September 7,2025.

The officer spoke with the driver and made an arrest at the scene which led to transporting the driver to the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) for further investigation.

As a result, 35 year old Armando Rodriguez DE LUNA has been charged criminally with Operation while impaired – alcohol and further with Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice  on September 25, 2025, and was also served a 90 day drivers licence suspension. The involved vehicle was towed and subject to a 7 day vehicle impound in accordance to the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.

Detachment officers also set up and conducted seven Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) spot check locations over the past weekend as a road safety initiative.

Ryan WALSER Was Arrested

(ESPANOLA, ON) – One person has been charged with refusal after police received a traffic complaint.

On Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at approximately 11:00 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a traffic complaint reporting a possible impaired driver on Highway 17 in the Sables Spanish Rivers Township. Police located the vehicle parked on the shoulder of Highway 17 near Massey. The driver of the vehicle failed to comply with the breath demand given by police during the investigation, and the driver was subsequently arrested.

The driver, Ryan WALSER, 39-years-old from Guelph, was charged with:

  • Refusal to comply with demand
  • Having care or control of a motor vehicle with liquor readily available

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on October 6, 2025.

Cruelty To Animals – Leonard (Len) MENARD

(NORTH SHORE TOWNSHIP, ON) – On September 9, 2025, the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a person for multiple animal cruelty related offences.

In March, 2025, the OPP and Provincial Animal Welfare Services began the investigation after attending a property on Old Hydro Road in the Township of the North Shore. On the property was a structure housing 10 goats – nine were deceased and only one was alive. Veterinary consultation was also involved, which determined that the animals were not adequately cared for (providing food, water, shelter) over a long period of time. 

After a lengthily investigation, police arrested and charged the owner.   

Leonard (Len) MENARD, 61-years-old, from North Shore Township, was charged with:

  • Cruelty to Animals – Unnecessary pain, suffering or injury – three counts
  • Cause damage or injury to animal or bird – fail to provide suitable/adequate food, water, care, shelter

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River on September 9, 2025.

“Drug” Bust

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – A Haldimand/Norfolk Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) investigation into an illicit cannabis operation has resulted in an individual facing multiple charges.

On Wednesday, September 3, 2025, members of the Haldimand/Norfolk OPP CSCU, with support from the Elgin/Middlesex and Brant/Oxford CSCUs, the West Region OPP Emergency Response Team, the West Region OPP Canine Unit, and the Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team, executed a search warrant at a property on McDowell Road East in Simcoe as part of an illicit cannabis investigation.

During the search, officers seized quantities of dried cannabis, cannabis oil, edibles, and vape products, along with various operational equipment, paraphernalia, a utility task vehicle (side-by-side), and Canadian currency. In addition, two enclosed utility trailers, confirmed to have been stolen, were recovered.

As a result, 47-year-old Jeffery OPPERMAN of Norfolk County was arrested and charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Possession of illicit cannabis,
  • Possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling,
  • Possession for the purpose of distributing,
  • Alter or offer to alter the chemical or physical properties of cannabis by the use of an organic solvent,
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000 – in Canada,
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 – in Canada – two counts.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe at a later date.

Troy CLEGHORN Arrested Following Collision

(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TOWNSHIP, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Rockwood resident with two criminal charges stemming from a two-motor vehicle collision.

On September 5, 2025, at approximately 8:20 p.m., members of the Wellington County OPP attended the scene of a two-motor vehicle collision on Main Street in Rockwood.

Troy CLEGHORN, a 25-year-old from Rockwood, is charged with the following:

  • Operation while Impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus
  • Fail to Remain

None of the involved parties sustained any injuries.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on September 16, 2025 to answer to the charges.

More Impaired Drivers

(SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX, ON) – Drivers facing charges after traffic stops following a disturbance in Southwest Middlesex.

On September 7, 2025, at 3:37 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a disturbance at a business on Longwoods Road in the Municipality of Southwest Middlesex.

Two individuals left the business in separate vehicles prior to police arrival. 

Shortly after, traffic stops were initiated as the suspect vehicles were located on Longwoods Road.

The drivers were both placed under arrest and transported to the Middlesex OPP Detachment.

As a result, Nicholas PATERSON, a 37-year-old of Strathroy-Caradoc and Shaun HOGAN, a 37-year-old of London have both been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused have been released from police custody and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on October 8 and October 7, 2025 respectively.

Body Of Missing Person Recovered

(MISSISSAUGA FIRST NATION, ON)- On September 6, 2025, at approximately 4:30 p.m., the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a marine call on the Mississagi River.

Two individuals were in an aluminum boat when it overturned. One person was located and was assisted by members of the public. The second person was unaccounted for.

The OPP’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) with a Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS), Helicopter, multiple marine units, and the Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) conducted the extensive search. The OPP’s Provincial Liaison Team (PLT) also assisted with the investigation.

On September 8, 2025, the missing person from Blind River was recovered from the river.

The investigation is ongoing under the direction of the Office of the Chief Coroner and Forensic Pathology Service (OCC-FPS). A postmortem is scheduled for Wednesday September 10, 2025, at Health Sciences North in Sudbury.

Gilles ARBOUR – Drunk Driving

(WEST NIPISSING, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged a person attempting to leave in a motor vehicle at a community event.

On Saturday September 6, 2025, at approximately 10:40 p.m., members from the Nipissing West Detachment of the OPP observed a driver attempt to drive away at a community event on Millrand Road, West Nipissing.

Police approached the vehicle before it drove away and found the driver to be impaired by alcohol and was arrested, then transported to the OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Gilles ARBOUR, 69 years-of-age, from West Nipissing, was charged with, operation while impaired – alcohol and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday November 6, 2025, in North Bay.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

RIDE Results

(WOLFE ISLAND, ON) – A weekend traffic initiative, including RIDE programs, on Wolfe Island, has resulted in multiple charges including one driver who was charged with impaired.

On Saturday, September 6, 2025, members of the East Region Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME)Team spent several hours on Wolfe Island.

They conducted two RIDE programs, checking a total of 324 vehicles, as well as numerous traffic stops.

One driver was stopped during a RIDE program and an approved roadside alcohol screening device was utilized. The individual was arrested and transported to the Kingston Police Headquarters for additional testing.

As a result of the investigation, Philip BIRD, age 75 of Wolfe Island has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Driving with liquor readily available

The individual was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kingston on October 28, 2025. Their driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and their vehicle was impounded for seven days.

One other driver was issued a three-day suspension as a result of registering a warning on the roadside alcohol screening device.

As a result of the RIDE programs and traffic stops, officers also laid charges for:

  • Three seatbelt violations
  • Driving without a licence
  • Failing to provide a driver’s licence
  • Having liquor readily available
  • Having an obstructed windshield
  • Using an unauthorized licence plate
  • Having an unnecessarily noisy vehicle
  • Driving a vehicle with no catalytic converter (contrary to emissions regulations)
  • Pulling an unlicensed trailer

One vehicle was taken off the road after being determined to be unfit for the road.
