(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment has charged a 37 year old male after police stopped a vehicle at an East Quarter Line Road, North Walsingham, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Saturday, May 3, 2014, at approximately 10:58 p.m., police were conducting patrols in the area of East Quarter Line Road, when a vehicle attracted an officer’s attention. The vehicle was subsequently stopped and investigated.

As a result of investigation, police arrested and charged 37 year old Jason Douglas LAWSON of Norfolk County, Ontario with Driving over the legal limit.

He is to appear in Provincial Court, Simcoe at a later date to answer to the charge.

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment is investigating a theft at a 1st Concession Road ENR, Houghton, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Sunday, May 4, 2014 at approximately 8:18 p.m., police received a call from a concerned resident after noticing that unknowns removed a stop sign from the intersection of 1st Concession Road ENR and Fairground Road.

Street sign theft occurs when street signs are stolen, often to be used as decorations. Sometimes considered to be a prank, the theft is often costly and inconvenient. This is extremely dangerous to the motoring public and could have caused a serious or even fatal collision for anyone not familiar with the roadways in Norfolk County.

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment has charged a 46 year old female after police stopped a vehicle at a Blueline Road, Woodhouse, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Sunday, May 4, 2014, at approximately 2:20 a.m., police were conducting patrols in the area of Blueline Road and Radical Road, when a vehicle attracted an officer’s attention. The vehicle was subsequently stopped and investigated.

As a result of investigation, police arrested and charged 46 year old Christine Anne BOER of Norfolk County, Ontario with driving over the legal limit and drive motor vehicle not equipped with an approved ignition interlock device.

She is to appear in Provincial Court, Simcoe at a later date to answer to the charges.

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Bracebridge detachment members have investigated a crash on Westvale Drive in the Town of Bracebridge.

On May 5, 2014 at approximately 7:20 am a bicyclist was struck by a truck while travelling on Westvale Drive toward Wellington Street North in the town of Bracebridge.

The male cyclist was not wearing a helmet and was transported to the hospital. His injuries have been found to be serious in nature.

The OPP closed Westvale Drive temporarily while a thorough investigation was conducted. The driver of the pickup truck has been charged with careless driving under the section 130 of the Highway Traffic Act.

Police are now clear of the scene and Westvale Drive is open to the public.

(HUNTSVILLE, ON) The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continues to seek the public’s assistance in solving the murder of Bernie COOPER. The investigation which has been active for the past 10 years continues to be conducted by members of the Muskoka Crime Unit under the direction of OPP Detective Inspector Shawn Glassford, Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).

Mr. COOPER was 66 years old at the time of his death and lived on West Road in Huntsville. He was found deceased in his apartment on Thursday May 6, 2004 at approximately 2:20 p.m. Officers, along with paramedics, were called to the apartment after receiving information that a male was found with no vital signs present in the residence.

A post mortem examination conducted determined that his untimely death was a result of a homicide.

Investigators have determined that he was last seen alive on Monday May 3, 2004, on Main Street East in downtown Huntsville around 12:30 p.m. at the Toronto Dominion (TD) Bank and later at the Beer Store in the Brendale Square.

Mr. COOPER lived alone and was known to be security conscious, typically allowing only people he knew into his apartment. Investigators believe that he may have known the person responsible for his murder allowing this person(s) into his apartment

A $50,000 reward continues to be offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for this crime.

(MOOSONEE, ON) – At approximately 10:30 pm on May 5, 2014 members of the Moosonee Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call regarding a possible domestic assault on Hutchison Road in the Town of Moosonee.

The Moosonee OPP attended the residence and located a male with multiple stab wounds and another male with minor knife wounds. The officers arrested a female, also at the scene, for the assaults. The victim was transported to hospital where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The 46 year old female of Moosonee has been charged with the following

– Aggravated Assault

– Assault with a Weapon

– Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused has been held in custody and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins, Ontario on 15 May, 2014.
