During the afternoon of Saturday May 10th, officers responded to a traffic complaint, where it was reported that a suspect had been observed getting into a vehicle while intoxicated, and drove off. The vehicle was located by the police a short time after receiving the call for service, at which time the driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol and subsequently failed a roadside screening device. As a result of the investigation, 31 year old Chantille GRAY of Frenchman’s Head, Ontario was charged with operating a motor vehicle over the legal limit. GRAY was released from custody and will appear in Sioux Lookout court on June 17, 2014.

FIRE BURNS DOWN TWO HOUSES
Just after midnight on May 12, 2014, members of the Sioux Lookout OPP along with the Sioux Lookout Fire Department responded to a house fire on Drayton Road. One house had become fully engulfed in flames, which subsequently spread to the neighboring house before the fire could be contained. Both houses completely burned as a result. No one was injured in either of these fires. At this time, no foul play is suspected, but while the investigation continues, anyone who has information that may assist with the investigation is asked to call the Sioux Lookout OPP at 807-737-2020 or 1-888-310-1122.
(OTTERVILLE, ON.) – The Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a fatal collision that occurred at approximately 9:09 a.m. yesterday on Main Street in Otterville.
The collision involved a Terra-Gator sprayer and a car. The car was travelling westbound and the sprayer was travelling eastbound when the collision occurred.
The 9 year old female, Ainsley SWANCE has been identified as the deceased.

Upon speaking with the driver, police discovered that he had been drinking. He was administered a Roadside Screening Device test which resulted in a fail.
The Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and his motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.
Scott OBRIEN aged 37 of Guelph has been charged with Over 80 mgs contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on May 23, 2014 to answer to the charge.

BREAK IN TO COTTAGES
(HUNTSVILLE, ON) Huntsville Ontario Provincial Police is investigating reported break ins around the Huntsville area.
On Friday May 9, 2014 the owners of a cottage on North Menominee Lake Road in Lake of Bays Twp. returned to find that their cottage had been broken into. Sometime between Easter weekend and May 9, 2014 unknown culprits broke into the cottage, once inside they removed an IPOD, cash and alcohol.
On Friday May 9, 2014 the owners of a cottage on Jo-Lee Point Rd., Huntsville returned to their cottage to find it had been broken into. Sometime between Tuesday May 5, 2014 and Friday May 9, 2014 unknown culprits entered the cottage and removed a list of items from the cottage, including a 42†flat screen TV, 6 to 8 bottles of alcohol.

(BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – – On Saturday May 10, 2014, at approximately 8:45 a.m. a Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was patrolling Main Street, Sauble Beach, South Bruce Peninsula, when he conducted a vehicle stop on a red 2010 Dodge Charger. While speaking to the driver, evidence of alcohol consumption was detected which lead to further investigation and the driver being arrested.
Subsequent tests indicated that a 17 year old female from Saugeen First Nation Territory, who cannot be identified under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was over the legal limit. She is scheduled to appear in Owen Sound court on May 27, 2014 to answer to the charges of operate over the legal limit, take motor vehicle without consent and two charges under the highway traffic act.

Beware Of Paving Scams
(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) On Saturday May 10, 2014, a West Perth resident contacted the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) to report a possible paving scam.
At around 2 p.m., a male person drove a small car onto the resident’s driveway. The male advised the resident he worked for a roadway construction company out of Mississauga. He said that his company was involved in road construction along a local Provincial Highway and that they had surplus asphalt. He offered to pave the resident’s driveway for $2,500 however the resident had to let him know within an hour for the deal to work.
The resident did not trust the male and checked on-line to see if this presentation followed other scams, which it did. The resident also called the 905 area code number provided by the man, and spoke to “Johnâ€Â. The resident asked information about the man who had earlier been on the driveway and made further queries about the jobsite location. The line went dead at this point. It is believed that John was the male who was on the driveway earlier. He is described as Caucasian 6’0’’ tall, slim build, wearing a construction vest an orange hat, and blue jeans.
With the warmer weather, scammers will be going door-to-door offering numerous services such a paving, and roofing. If someone comes to your door, ask to see some identification. If you are interested in what this person has to offer, take time to find out about their business and their offer.

(BRUCE TWP, ON) – On May 8, 2014 at 11:29 pm, a South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on patrol along Highway 21 in Bruce Township saw a Grey Ford SPE moving at a high rate of speed. The vehicle speed was displayed on radar at 113 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone. When the vehicle was stopped, the officer noted that the driver had been drinking alcohol. 34 year old Jeffrey GLOVER of Kincardine has been charged with Operate over 80 milligrams. He is scheduled to appear in court on June 9, 2014 to answer to the charge.

(SOUTHERN BRUCE COUNTY, ON) – Each Spring, bears awaken from their winter hibernation and start looking for food. Sometimes the search for food leads them into populated areas which some people can find very unsettling.
The South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is offering some tips from the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) bear wise program to help reduce your chances of encountering a bear:
Store garbage in containers with tight lids
Only put garbage out the day of collection
Clean outdoor grills after each use, including the grease trap
Only fill bird feeders during winter months
Don’t let leave pet food outside
Pick ripe fruit from trees and bushes
Bear sightings should be reported to the MNR Bear Hotline at 1 866 514 2327.

PORTABLE GENERATOR STOLEN
(Otonabee South Monaghan Township, ON) – On Sunday May 11, members of the Peterborough County OPP were called to investigate a report of a theft from a residence that occurred on County Road 28.
Unknown suspect(s) attended a residence on County Road 28 and made their way to the rear yard. In the rear yard they entered a garden shed and stole a Gas Generator and 5 gallons of gas. The suspects then fled in an unknown direction.
Stolen is a Honda Gas Generator model 1500 and 5 gallons of Gasoline. Value of theft $2000

(Essa Township, ON) -At 6:11 a.m. May 12,2014 Nottawasaga OPP were dispatched to a two vehicle personal injury collision at intersection of King’s Highway 89 and Kindlers road in Essa Township.
Upon arrival police two vehicles in south ditch near guardrails and 2 involved parties were taken to Stevenson Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening minor injuries by Simcoe County EMS.
Investigation is continuing with no charges laid at this time. If any persons witnessed this collision they are asked to contact Provincial Constable Rotar of the Nottawasaga OPP at (705)-939-1939.

(HUNTSVILLE, ON) On Friday May 9, 2014 just after 8:00pm Huntsville Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was made aware of a break in that occurred on Brunel Rd., in the town of Huntsville.
The victim came home from work to find that his back door to the inside of his residence had been left open. He went into his bedroom to find that the wooden closet door was off its hinges and his gun vault was missing from inside the closet.
On Sunday May 11, 2014 the investigation led to the recovery of all the firearms. Still outstanding are the PS3 video games, cash, the bottle of alcohol and the hunting knife. As a result of the investigation an 18 year old male from Huntsville has been arrested and charged with Possession of a Firearm, contrary to prohibition order, Break and Enter, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Break and Enter to steal a firearm and Fail to Comply with Probation order. The accused was held for a bail hearing and will appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on May 12, 2014 to answer to his charges.
Huntsville OPP is continuing their investigation into this break and enter.
(NAPANEE), On Saturday the 10th of May 2014, the Napanee detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a mischief that took place on West St., Napanee to a residence. They also received a report of a break and enter, and a theft from residence that took place on Dundas St., Napanee.
Investigation revealed that on the 10th of May a window screen and frame was damaged at an apartment on West St., a break and enter, and theft of various antique and vintage coins were stolen from the residence on Dundas St West., Napanee.
On the 11th of May 2014, Adam SWEET, a 32 year old male of Napanee, Ontario was arrested and charged 2 counts of break and enter, 2 counts of mischief under $5000.00 and one count of theft under $5000.00, contrary to the Criminal Code.
SWEET was held in custody for a Bail Hearing on the 12nd of May, 2014
