Monday, May 19, 2014, 6:47 p.m, a sixteen year old Kitchener female was riding her bicycle along a downslope on Lower Mercer St. in the city of Kitchener. The bicycle did not have functioning brakes and as a result as she approached the intersection of Lower Mercer St. and Woolner Trail, she lost control and hit a vehicle traveling eastbound along Woolner Trail. The cyclist did not have a bell or horn attached to her bicycle, and was not wearing a helmet. She was transported to Grand River Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Charges are pending.

On May 19 2014, a resident at 529 Church Street South Cambridge was doing some exterior plumbing work when sparks from a torch ignited the wall underneath the exterior siding. Family members smelled smoke inside the home and called 911. Waterloo Regional Police and Cambridge Fire Department responded. The area was vented and fire extinquished by CFD. The fire was extinguished. Damage estimated at $1000.

On Friday May 16, 2014 at 11:36pm a male driver was arrested for drug related offences at Westheights Drive and Blackwell Drive in the city of Kitchener after a routine traffic stop. Police located 77grams of marijuana and marijuana paraphernalia in the vehicle at the time of the traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle was arrested for possession for the purpose of trafficking marijuana by police. The adult male was later released, he will have to attend court on July 4, 2014 to answer to these charges.

On May 18th 2014 at approximately 1 p.m., a male suspect took some merchandise while exiting a convenience store on Highland Rd. E. Kitchener. The suspect was confronted by the store employee before leaving about the unpaid merchandise. The suspect assaulted the employee and fled the store on foot. The employee was not seriously injured. The suspect was last seen on Spadina Ave and is described as a white male 30-40 yrs old, short hair, black baseball hat and jean shorts cut below his knees. She was pushed to the ground by the males and her money was stolen. The two males were last observed running towards Belleview Street. ATM stolen
The Guelph Police are investigating the theft of a truck and ATM that occurred in the early morning hours of May 18, 2014. Two suspects went to the south end of Guelph, broke into and stole a pickup truck. They then took the stolen pickup truck to an ATM vestibule, where they used the truck to rip the ATM machine from the wall. Police located and recovered the stolen vehicle a short time later close to the theft location.
The suspects are described as:
Male, white, 5’9â€Â, wearing a black checkered jacket and beige pants
Male, white, 6’, wearing a grey jacket and black jacket and black pants

Collision
Guelph Police are investigating a motor vehicle collision that occurred at the intersection of Speedvale and Delhi at 1:30 p.m. on May 19, 2014. The collision involved a white Kia SUV and a silver Honda Accord.

3- On May 19, 2014 at 1:47 a.m., the Guelph Police investigated a break and enter at Waverly Drive School. Culprit(s) entered by smashing a window to a classroom. Police located laptops piled inside the entered room and also located laptops and electronic equipment in the school yard. G4S security responding to the alarm is believed to have forced the culprit(s) to vacate quickly.

Theft from cars
Over the weekend the Guelph Police received multiple reports from Guelph residents reporting thefts from their cars. The locations were Summit Crescent, Vanier Drive, Scottsdale Drive, Lincoln Crescent, Woodlawn Road East, Kathleen Street and two on Marlborough Road.
This crime is easily avoided by locking your cars and by keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle. Mystery Shopper Scam
The Guelph Police Service Fraud unit would like to make citizens aware of an Employment scam – “Mystery Shopper Scam†that is currently active in Guelph.
This is how the scam works:
The victim answers an enticing ad to become a mystery shopper. The employer” sends a letter
Mischief
At approximately 12:55 am this morning the Chatham-Kent Police were dispatched to Campers Cove Campground at 21097 Camper’s Cove Rd in Wheatley to investigate a possible stolen golf cart. Upon their arrival they observed the security gate arm to the Campground broken. Investigation revealed a 21 year old Wheatley man was trying to get his golf cart back into the park by manually lifting the security gate, when the arm broke off.
He was subsequently arrested for Mischief Over and released with a future court date.
Public Intoxication
Early this morning at approximately 12:38 am the Chatham-Kent Police were operating a RIDE Program in Wallaceburg and observed a 22 year male walking in the middle of Dufferin Ave. Investigation revealed that the 22 year old had consumed a substantial amount of alcohol and was is no condition to care for himself. The 22 year old was arrested for Being Intoxicated in a Public Place contrary to the Liquor Licence Act and held until he was sober.
At 11:45 p.m. last night an officer saw a pick-up truck travelling southbound on Lacroix Street in a fast and erratic manner. The officer recorded the vehicle was travelling 82km/h in the 50km/h zone. A traffic stop was conducted to investigate the driver. Based on observations made by the officer, a roadside screening test was conducted and the driver provided a sample of breath in the warm range. Further investigation revealed the driver was unlicensed, and the vehicle validation was expired.
A 39-year-old Chatham man has been charged with speeding, driving without a licence, driving a motor vehicle with expired validation, and failing to surrender insurance. He was also issued a 3-day licence suspension for alcohol consumption, and the vehicle was towed from the road.
Recovered Stolen BBQ
At 3:36 a.m. this morning an officer observed male pushing a BBQ down the street in the area of Harvey/Cross Street in Chatham. The officer stopped the male and commenced an investigation. It was confirmed the BBQ was stolen from a house on Jeffrey Street a short time before. The male was arrested and later released with a future court date. The owner was contacted and arrangements were made for the return of his BBQ.
