(DESERONTO, ON) – One person has been charged, and arrest warrants have been issued for three others in connection with a serious assault in Deseronto.
On Friday, May 16, 2025, just after 4:00 a.m., officers with the Lennox and Addington County (LAC) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a disturbance at a residence. One person was transported to hospital by Lennox and Addington County Paramedics with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
This is believed to be an isolated incident and there is believed to be no public safety risk.
As a result of an investigation by the L&A OPP Crime Unit, arrest warrants were issued for four people.
On Wednesday, June 11, 20205, a search warrant was executed at a residence on Old Highway-2 in east-end Belleville. One person was arrested.
Jean LEGAULT, age 55 of Belleville is charged with:
- Aggravated assault
- Assault
- Assault with a weapon
- Forcible confinement – two counts
- Intimidation
- Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm – two counts
- Uttering threats to damage or injure an animal – two counts.
The accused was held for a bail hearing.
Arrest warrants remain outstanding for:
- Cherie PAMMETT, age 51 of Deseronto for:
- Aggravated assault
- Assault with a weapon
- Forcible confinement
- Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
- Dorothy SPEIRS, age 51 of Belleville for:
- Aggravated assault
- Assault
- Assault with a weapon
- Forcible confinement – two counts
- Intimidation – two counts
- Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm – two counts
- Uttering threats to damage or injure an animal – two counts
- Fail to comply with a probation order – two counts
- Kerry WEEKS, age 63 of Marmora and Lake Township for:
- Aggravated assault
- Assault
- Assault with a weapon
- Forcible confinement – two counts
- Intimidation – two counts
- Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm – two counts
- Uttering threats to damage or injure an animal – two counts
These individuals are urged to turn themselves in to police. If you encounter these individuals, DO NOT APPROACH.
