IMPAIRED DRIVER LOCATED IN FORT FRANCES

(FORT FRANCES, ON) – Shortly after 2:00 pm on April 22, 2014, members of the Rainy River District Detachment on the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received information regarding a possible impaired driver.

Shortly after 3:30 pm on the same day, the suspect vehicle was located and a traffic stop was conducted. As a result of an investigation at the scene, Derek Archie a 41 year old male from Big Grassy First Nation has is charged criminally with:

One count of operating a motor vehicle with ability impaired by alcohol; and
One count of operating a motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams (mg) of alcohol in 100 milliliters (ml) of blood.

He has also been charged under Ontario’s Highway Traffic Act with:

Driving while under suspension; and

Under Ontario’s Liquor Licence Act with:

Driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor.

Derek Archie is scheduled to appear in Fort Frances Provincial Court on May 29, 2014 at 9:30 am to answer to these charges.
