(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) On May 3, 2014, just after 9:30 p.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were conducting a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program at Highway 40 near Longwoods Road, when a Dodge van entered and stopped for the officers.
While officers were speaking with the driver, Michele TURATO, age 45, from Chatham, it was determined that she had been consuming alcoholic beverages.
Subsequent tests indicated that she was over the legal limit and will appear in a Chatham court on May 27, 2014, to answer to the following charges:
Driving With More Than 80 mgs of Alcohol in Blood, under the Criminal Code of Canada
Fail To Surrender Insurance Card, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
Driver Fail to Surrender Licence, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

Chatham-Kent OPP would like to remind drivers that there is no safe amount of alcohol consumption when driving. If you consume alcoholic beverages, plan for a safe ride home by using a designated driver, a taxi or public transit to ensure that you and others sharing the road arrive safely.
