(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) – On May 6, 2014, in the evening hours, an officer from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on routine patrol in the village of Bobcaygeon. The officer observed a male staggering down Bolton Street. A short time later the officer observed the same male driving a motor vehicle eastbound on Canal Street swerving from side to side.
The vehicle was stopped on Boyd Street. While speaking with the driver the officer determined that he had been consuming alcohol and he was arrested for impaired driving.
As a result of the investigation Colin JOHNSTON, 44 years of age, of Bobcaygeon, was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and refuse to provide a breath sample, contrary to the Criminal Code.
The accused was held for a bail hearing and was to appear in court, in Lindsay, the following day.
