(MIDDLESEX COUNTY, ON)- On Thursday May 8, 2014 at 2:46 a.m. Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a speeding motor vehicle travelling at over 70 km/h over the posted speed limit on Oxford Street, located in the City of London. A traffic stop was completed at which time the officer discovered that the driver had been drinking. A roadside screening test was administered and the driver registered a “FAILâ€Â. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to the OPP detachment for further tests.
As a result police have charged Benjamin O’DONOVAN SCHALK of Middlesex Centre with Driving with More than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in his Blood as per Section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code and Race a Motor Vehicle as per Section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act. The accused was released from police custody by way of a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to appear in a London court room on June 5, 2014 to speak to the charges. The accused licence was suspended and the vehicle impounded.
