(Kenora, ON.) – Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police has received funding from the Ministry of Children and Youth Services to hire students for the Youth in Policing Initiative (YIPI). Successful applicants for the position will assist the Community Services Officers with the delivery of public safety programs within the community including general foot patrol duties. The students will also be seen as ambassadors for the OPP and the City of Kenora. Pay for the position will be $10.70 an hour based on a 40 hour week for a total of 8 weeks. Criteria on which the applicants will be chosen include:
Applicants must reside in the the Kenora area.
Be between the ages of 14 and 17 years of age.
Must be returning to school in September.
Cannot apply if applicant has participated in the program in the past .
Completed resumes need to be delivered to the OPP detachment on the Kenora bypass no later than 4:00 pm Tuesday June 3, with interviews taking place between 10 – 12th June. There will be an expected start date of Monday June 30 and concluding Friday August 22, 2014.
