OPP WARNS BUYERS TO BEWARE

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) – With the arrival of the good weather many consumers are looking to purchase recreational vehicles, including boats, ATV’s, RV’s and trailers and they are going to various computer sites to find good deals on used items.

With this in mind the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) would like to remind those making purchases of vehicles to be cautious. A recent investigation revealed that a vehicle purchased without an ownership had actually been stolen several years, and several owners ago.

The ownership is proof that the seller actually owns the vehicle being sold. Without an ownership the vehicle cannot be registered with the MTO and any vehicle being purchased may actually have been stolen, so buyers beware!
