DRIVER CHARGED WITH RACING

(TOWNSHIP OF CHATSWORTH, ON) – On Friday, May 23 2014 at approximately 7:50 p.m., a Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on patrol observed a 2014 Mazda motor vehicle travelling at fast rate of speed south bound on Hwy. 10, south of Holland Centre, in the Township of Chatsworth. The cruiser’s radar was activated and registered the speed of the Mazda between 130 km/hr and 145 km/h. The radar was locked in at 134 km/hr. The posted speed limit is 80 km/hr.

Syed Abrar SARWAR, 21, of Mississauga, was charged with racing a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. He is to appear in court in Owen Sound on June 9, 2014.

The vehicle was impounded and his driver’s licence was suspended for 7 days.
