(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) On May 27, 2014, just after midnight, a Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting RADAR enforcement on Highway 401 eastbound near Harwich Road.
The officer observed a Saturn automobile that appeared to be exceeding the posted speed limit of 100 km/hr. The RADAR registered a speed of 165 km/hr.
The officer stopped the vehicle, and as a result of conversation with the driver, 19 year old Jacob WALL, from Ridgetown, a small amount of suspected marihuana was seized.
Subsequent investigation also revealed that the driver had been consuming alcoholic beverages. A roadside test was completed which resulted in a warn range suspension.
The male driver, 19 year old Jacob WALL, from Ridgetown, is scheduled to appear in a Chatham court on July 3, 2014, to answer to the charge of Possession of Marihuana, under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
The driver has also been charged with the following:
Drive Motor Vehicle-Perform Stunt – Speeding By 50 or More Km/hr, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
Class G2 Licence Holder – B.A.C. Above Zero, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
The driver’s licence has been suspended and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days, as per statute.
