(PETROLIA, ON) Lambton Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is reminding the public to immediately notify the OPP if confronted with a suspicious event or situation or an event that is illegal or that may be illegal.
On May 26, 2014 just before 6:00 p.m. a young girl out for a walk with her dog on North Street, in Petrolia, was approached by a suspicious male operating a brown van or Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) that had dark windows.
Although this was not an attempt to abduct, there was a suggestion by the older male driver to have the female go to his residence for candy. The female then ran away to get help and the suspicious male drove off.
The male driver, who never got out of his vehicle, was approximately 50 to 60 years of age, almost bald with white stubble on his head, and he was wearing sunglasses. Further, he was wearing a brown shirt and he also had a dark mark on his left temple like a birth mark or age spot.
Anyone with information that may assist Lambton OPP with this incident or any similar incidents is encouraged to report it to the Lambton OPP or your nearest police authority.
