POLICE INVOLVED IN AN ACTIVE CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION

(HEARST, ON) – Following the collaborative efforts of the Members of the James Bay Hearst Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) with the assistance of the James Bay Crime Unit, the Northeast Region Emergency Response Team, the OPP Canine Unit and OPP Helicopter, a Hearst man was apprehended shortly before 8:00 pm this evening on Front Street in the Town of Hearst, Ontario.

The 26 year old male Jean Dube of Hearst has been arrested and charged with 12 Criminal Code of Canada offences stemming from an event that occurred on May 27, 2014.

The accused stands charged with one count each of Assault, Assault cause bodily harm, Assault with a weapon, Point a firearm, Utter threats to cause death, Overcome resistance to commission of offence, Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, Careless use of firearm, Unauthorized possession of firearm, Careless storage of firearm, Personation and Fail to comply with undertaking, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused is in police custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cochrane for a bail hearing on Friday May 30, 2014.
