VEHICLE DITCHED DRIVER CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED DRIVING

(MUNICIPALITY OF GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) – On Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at approximately 5:33 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a vehicle in the ditch on Grey Rd. 4, east of Durham Rd. B, in the Township of Southgate.

The vehicle, a 2012 Ford SUV, was observed travelling on the shoulder of Grey Rd. 4 at a slow speed prior to driving down a steep embankment into the east ditch and continuing for several meters into an open field.

Police arrived and found that the driver had been drinking alcohol. A part bottle of alcohol was seized from the vehicle.

The driver was transported to hospital by ambulance as a precaution. She was arrested for impaired driving. Breath tests conducted indicated she had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in her system.

Barbara DAYE, 60, of the Township of Southgate, was charged with impaired driving and over 80 milligrams, as well as driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor under the Liquor Licence Act.

She is to appear in Court in Owen Sound on Thursday, June 19, 2014.
