TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO DRUG SEIZURE

(KENORA, ON) Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have made a drug seizure in result of a traffic stop on Highway 17 in the Township of Haycock. On Friday June 6, 2014 at approximately 10:30am, police stopped a vehicle on Highway 17 for a traffic violation. The police investigation resulted in the arrest of the male driver and search of the vehicle. With the assistance of the Organized Crime and Enforcement Bureau (OCEB) Kenora Drug Unit, police located approximately 4 pounds of Marihuana in the vehicle along with an amount of Canadian Currency. The drugs have an estimated street value of $8,000.

As a result of the investigation, Joseph FRECHETTE, age 55 of West Pineridge, Manitoba has been charged with Possession of a Schedule II Substance for the purpose of Trafficking-under 3kg, Trafficking Schedule II Substance-Cannabis Marihuana under 3 kg under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5, 000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

He is to appear in court on July 17, 2014 to answer to the charges.
