(MOOSONEE, ON) – On June 8, 2014 members of the Moosonee Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) hosted the 2014 Ontario Law Enforcement Torch Run in support of the Ontario Special Olympics (OSS).
Members of the Moosonee OPP as well as a small contingency of runners gathered at 11:00 am and ran a 5 kilometre loop to help raise awareness and funds for the OSS.
The run concluded at the Moosonee OPP Detachment where a charity barbeque was held from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm. With the assistance of a power outage throughout the town, the barbeque was a huge success. In total Moosonee helped to raise over $1000 that will directly benefit OSS athletes in Northeastern Ontario.
The Moosonee OPP would like to thank all participants, volunteers and the citizens of Moosonee that turned out to show their support. A special thanks goes out to the Northern Store, Two Bay Enterprises and the Sky Ranch Restaurant without whom this event would not have been possible.
